Matt Miller’s “7 Rounds in 7 Days” Mock
Day 1
31. Kansas City Chiefs The Pick: OT Teven Jenkins, Oklahoma State A right tackle for the most part in college, Teven Jenkins told me last month that he’s comfortable playing on the left side. That’s music to the ears of the Kansas City Chiefs, who couldn’t reel in a free agent left tackle. Jenkins is a powerful run blocker and mean finisher when he gets his hands on a defender. He also has the size and length to be effective cutting off the backside on all those beautiful Patrick Mahomes rollout passes. Brett Veach could always surprise us with a wide receiver pick here, but Jenkins feels like a match of need and value they can’t ignore. Day 2 63. Kansas City Chiefs The Pick: WR Nico Collins, Michigan After shoring up the offensive line with earlier picks and free agency, the Kansas City Chiefs look to address a wide receiver room that lost depth and ability through free agency (Sammy Watkins) and a lack of development. Nico Collins would give KC a big receiver (6’4”, 210 lbs) but keep their track team in tact with his 4.4 speed. Day 3 94. Kansas City Chiefs The Pick: LB Baron Browning, Ohio State The Chiefs checked off the biggest needs at offensive tackle and wide receiver; now it’s time to address a defense that quietly has a few needs. Linebacker is one of them where Anthony Hitchens is no longer a fit in the scheme. Willie Gay, Jr. might be part of the future, but they need an impact player. Baron Browning excels at weakside linebacker and in space. He’s ideal for this scheme. Day 4 136. Kansas City Chiefs The Pick: CB D.J. Daniel, Georgia General manager Brett Veach has to hit some home runs in this draft to re-tool the roster. D.J. Daniel could be this year’s version of L’Jarius Sneed for him as a Day 3 surprise. Daniel doesn’t have great size, but his agility and versatility could make him a dangerous slot cornerback. 144. Kansas City Chiefs* The Pick: TE Brevin Jordan, Miami I’ve gathered from readers that I’m a lot lower on Brevin Jordan than most, but the shoulder injury in 2020 and leg injury in 2019 are concerns when moving his game forward. He has awesome pass-catching traits when healthy, though, and that could make him a fun TE3 and H-back option in Kansas City. |
I’ll update the header with his daily picks since I’m subscribed to his stuff.

my mind read it as Trezelle Jenkins...

I'd be fine if we got him - especially at #31 which I don't think he'll fall to - but man it's almost like it's a bad omen or something. |

Saw a story the other day with former pick 31 draft choices. in 1995... Trezelle Jenkins |
Love Nico Collins, mentioned him in the Call Your Shot thread. I'd be really happy with these two picks, although I don't think either guy will fall that far.

Updated with day 3

STRONGLY disagree that Hitchens is no longer a fit in the scheme. But Browning in the 3rd wouldn't be bad value.
I don't love Nico Collins. |
Agree with Duncan on Collins not being my favorite but he's ahead of quite a few to me. If this draft flip-flopped Browning and Collins it would be solid.
So far so good. |
Yeah, I wouldn’t hate Collins. But I think there are better guys available at the end of the 2nd if they go WR.
Also feel like Tomorrion Terry is a better version of Collins who fits KC’s scheme better and will be available later. |
Day 4 is up.
|
Terry 's hands are a concern, and Collins can't separate. I'd pass on both.

He never finished because of trades but here is his final 7 round mock.
58. Kansas City Chiefs (from Baltimore Ravens) — EDGE Payton Turner, Houston 63. Kansas City Chiefs — S Richie Grant, UCF 144. Kansas City Chiefs* — WR Josh Imatorbhebhe, Illinois 175. Kansas City Chiefs — CB D.J. Daniel, Georgia 181. Kansas City Chiefs* — WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette, Iowa 207. Kansas City Chiefs (from Pittsburgh Steelers through Miami Dolphins) — LB Monty Rice, Georgia |
Not bad. I don’t think we take a safety at 63, but I love Grant.
|
Marshall and Dyami Brown go 46 and 49. Wallace and Amon Ra are at the bottom of the 3rd.
