Thank you to Chiefsplanet

Hey, folks.

This is a sentimental post, apologies in advance.

I am on cloud nine, both because I simply can not believe what we just witnessed and the also the various substances I consumed earlier today.

Some of you won’t care about this info (this thread could very well get buried - some old timers might dig it - we’ll see), some already figured this out (nothing gets by you, DaFace), but here it is.

“Just standin’ around, suckin’ on a big ol’ chili dog” was all my best friend and I. We found Chiefsplanet as sixth graders from gblowfish’s website. Reading through his “coaches who sucked” page was a cathartic event after a disappointing 2004 finish. A year later we decided to make accounts, and unsurprisingly, our 13 year old grammar, style, and lack of conversational ability did not go over well with the old guard here. My friends and I trashed Chiefsplanet after getting razzed by some of the regulars and old timers here. We were 13 & 14 years old and decided to troll on our way out and never come back.

Yet...

We never left. The community here had a way of keeping us around. Since being a teenager and surviving high school (unsurprisingly, school and certain parts of the childhood were a rough time for me) I started a non-profit and received unbelievable support from this community (shoutout to ChiTown!). It was thanks to a lot of the folks in the community on here that we were able to help fund the construction of a school in an indigenous community in Nepal (seriously) In 2016, I met an extraordinary person on here (C3HIEF3S) who was moving to Lawrence. He soon became one of my best friends in world and was eventually a groomsman at my wedding, and this week- I realized that I have now spent half of my life on Chiefsplanet and have grown up in a real way here.

Thank you to the mod and admin staff for creating such a fantastic culture here - and of course, to the entire community. We survived heartbreaks, the Pioli era, and saw disappointments that were too much for so many fairweather fans. After all of that, today we ascended to the mountaintop - and the feeling was better than anything I could have imagined.

I’m starting a $5 monthly donation. Chiefsplanet created a place of unity for us and I can’t wait to celebrate many more championships here. Thank you for making this place feels like home, folks. I’m now 27 years old and out in Colorado. Tomorrow my wife and I will be moving into our dream home, and I honestly can’t believe it.

How bout’ those Chiefs?

Thank you Chiefsplanet.

In June 2016 I moved to Lawrence and transferred to KU, where I didn’t know a single person, yet a man named Chiefspants sent me a private message here and offered to show me around campus and the city. We talked Royals for hours, we talked Chiefs heartbreaks, and we talked life.

He left Lawrence later that summer, but not before helping make Lawrence feel like home. This website gave me a best friend that I was able to attend the AFC Championship game with to celebrate what brought us together in the first place. I love this site, I love KC, and I am so appreciative that CP gave me a brother for life.

It was honor, dude. I knew if anyone would be up to go to the AFCCG from out of state on a whim - it’d be you. Still can’t believe that happened.

Thanks again for creating this community, Chiefsplanet.

The best people I've met in my life were members here.

I mean that.

I knew they were God's children when they didn't strangle me after I passed out...

In my book, Chiefspants... you’re the biggest sweetheart around here since Lonewolf Ed

I don’t think there’s a mean bone in you

We easily have the best online football community.

Happy to be a part of it.

Me too. Was a California native who became a soft-core fan in 1994, but in 2005 I joined this board, went my first Arrowhead game a year later, several bashes/tailgates. Eventually moved there but just for a couple years. Would never have done all that if not for this site.

Also, Crystal Plunger.

I might have talked the most shit on AC but I can't think of any man outside of Hough Heffner that gave me more joy over the years.

PROST TO YOU AC! :toast:

Prost to the man who gave all of us this for 2 decades...

Until you've ravaged a cheap motel with Bob Dole you're still soft-core.

Chiefsplanet taught me how to discipline a child and love a woman.

Met some great members this week in Miami and at Arrowhead over the last 3 years!
