Who should be re-signed?
We have a huge list of players set to be UFA after this season. I know it’s only the halfway point, but it’s not too early to start the conversation.
We’re slated to have 24m in estimated cap space according to overthecap and currently have around 23m to rollover from this season. So, unless I’m way off (which is possible, I’m just adding up our current cap space and next years estimated taken from OTC), will have close to 47m in space before doing anything with Sammy Watkins. If we choose to cut Watkins, that adds another 14m in cap space. Chad Henne Xavier Williams Lesean McCoy Darron Lee Jordan Lucas Morris Claiborne Bashaud Breeland Emmanuel Ogbah Chris Jones Reggie Ragland Matt Moore Kendall Fuller Anthony Sherman Stefan Wisnewski So far, Ogbah, Jones, Breeland and Ragland have probably all earned reasonable FA deals unless Veach thinks upgrades can be had at similar cost. |
Ogbah, Ragland, Sherman and Moore if he wants to come back

ALL
|
- Henne
- Claiborne - Ogbah - Jones - Fuller - Sherman As for the rest, I'll give them the remaining 8 games to prove it. |

Terez says Chiefs will re sign Jones....... ****
|
ugh
he needs to work with watkins trainer this offseason to make sure his lower body issues don't become chronic |
I wouldn’t sign Chris Jones yet unless he agrees to accept Fletcher Cox money. He’s a tag candidate.
I’d try to extend Ogbah at a fair deal. Same with Ward. |
Veach you need to make 100% sure that re signing Jones is the correct call. He needs to actually do his job. Be more like Saunders and Nnadi but obviously a better pass rusher

Veach literally straight up stole Ward from the Cowboys. Talk about a highway robbery good god

Not exactly a list that has me overly concerned.
Definitely Ogbah and Ragland if they keep performing at the level they currently are. You need to bring back core guys who prove they can play in this scheme, and they both seem to be flourishing in this system. Obviously you have to keep Chris Jones, I'd put the tag on him as of right now depending on what he does in the second half of the season. If he blows up, I still might just tag him. I know I will get flamed for saying it but he strikes me as the type that will really fall off after getting paid. Fenton and Ward look like they can be really solid corners for this team for the long haul, and I think Fuller will price himself out of town. The value won't be there for him. Try to keep either Claiborne or Breeland for stability, definitely look to the draft and add another young guy in the high rounds. Overall we're sitting pretty good. |
Not McCoy

Ogbah and Ragland on reasonable deals. That’s it.
