Leonard Williams, DE/DT, USC
If we can land a top pick, which looks likely, this is the guy I hope we get. I really liked Sheldon Richardson two years ago, but this guy is an even better prospect and has the potential to be the same type of disruptive 1 gap 3/4 DE, but even better.
You put him next to Poe with Houston and Ford on the outside next year (and possibly resign Bailey) and this defense will continue to get better and while taking some pressure off of our secondary with a dominant interior pass rush. I know people won't like the sound of a defensive lineman, but if we aren't drafting QB in the 1st the next best thing is to keep loading up on pass rushers. |
He does look really, really intriguing.
We need to be shopping for an elite WR or CB, however. If not a QB. |
He won't be fast enough to catch Raiders QB Marcus Mariota.

He wasn't very good against one of the top O-Lines of BC this weekend...He's a good prospect but I'd rather take a receiver or db in the first round!
|
If we have a chance to take Amari Cooper, I'd grab him. He has looked pretty good so far. We'll see how he does against better defenses.

At this point, you just need to be looking for talent that's (a.) promising, and (b.) fits our offense/defense. |
Highest upside by far is Shawn Oakman. Williams is more pro-ready and will likely be stronger at POA as a rookie.
Oakman has ridiculous burst for a 6'9" 280 pound 5-tech. He has a really strong punch and super long arms as well. Reminds me of Aldon Smith, only bigger. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HeerhUW1-I...00/oakman1.gif Check out his punch. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tbEx4HMJzB...00/oakman3.gif Burst upfield, misses the sack because the QB ducked under him, but that's his raw explosion/athleticism on display. He has the ability to beat OTs with deceptive speed and turn the corner on the outside as well. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bVdoV8JkIr...00/oakman2.gif He is athletic enough to drop back into coverage like an OLB, Baylor actually does use him like that from time to time. Very fluid athlete. |
Ive watched him twice this college season and he hasnt necessarily stuck out to me. I know he was battling injury the first game but I just dont think we should go his direction in the draft. We have too much weakness at the skill positions right now to be drafting another DL in the first.

if we don't draft a WR or a CB with our first pick I'm going to stop watching the chiefs.

Can he play QB?

|
