Basement Drywall Question

I'm starting a drywall project in my basement. I have everything plumbed, wired, and framed when we built the house, now I'm getting around to doing the drywall.

Anyway, the exterior walls are framed and insulated, the walls are also covered in clear plastic. Do I just hang the dry wall on top of that or remove it?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have any experience with drywall?

Me? Just a little bit. I've got a guy who is going to help me that's done a lot of it.

I was going to hire someone to tape, mud, and texture the walls.

When I did my basement, I put plastic against the concrete wallthen framed and insulated it. Basically putting a moisture barrier up. Then just hung drywall on the framed in walls.

Move out of your moms basement, kidding just wanted to get it out of the way before all the fine members of the forum showed up. It's not hard, use screws not nails, spreading the mud takes practice, smooth skim coat means less sanding on the seams.

You're describing a moisture barrier which used to be code. The problem with a moisture barrier is that it traps water inside the wall. You don't want that. Take the plastic down.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Seemed odd to me when I saw it that way, but was nice as the the insulation was covered to keep it in place.
