Driver record/point system

Someone explain this to me: The state of Wyoming DMV, DOES NOT use a point system. Yet our work is looking at new insurance and they told my boss I have 3 points on my lic. My lic is a Class A.

The only violations I have had since 2007 are the following:

Aug 2007, ticket for Expired/non valid Ins & following to close
( was in minor accident, the only one ever, from rear ending another car.)
Jan 2008, driving under suspension... (was in Montana)
ended up with fine, but no additional suspension. (was suspended for 3 months from 2007 ticket)

My License was re-instated in Feb of 2008 after the 3 month suspension

Nov 2011 ticket for no seat belt

All citations/suspension where in WY, other than the one in Montana

These are the only tickets ect I have had going back to 1999...

So how is it I have 3 points on my lic?
And no I have not got a copy of my record yet as I have to wait to get it from DMV, and local offices are closed this week for some BS.

Because gubbments at the state, local, and federal level are incompetent idiots.

Getting into a wreck and not having insurance might be worth a few points.

Because in Montana, driving while suspended/revoked is a 6-point hit on your license. Over time, those points will drop off.

Here in Montana, we do work on a points system. Consider it a gift that keeps on giving.

I don't know. But I've been driving for a LONG time and have NEVER, never, ever once made a claim. No accidents, 2 tickets in the past 15 years and somehow my car insurance almost doubled. Went from $280 for 6 months for $500. I called them up and asked wtf and they said the cost of doing business in my zip code went up. **** THAT. So I look around for a better price and can't find one.

What the **** did I do? The cost of doing business with ME is all profit for them. I'm pissed needless to say.

From the way I understand it, each state has their own number of points assigned per offense, and each state has their own number of points allowed before your license is revoked. Hypothetical example (I don't know what the actual points are for this) in Missouri you get a speeding ticket and it puts 1 point on your record. If you get a speeding ticket in Wisconsin they put .5 points on your record for the exact same offense. A collision could be 3 pts in one state and 2 in another.

If I understand it right, the points will go away after a while, but I don't know the time frame on that, or if its specific to different offenses.

On a side note John, which city/county has the 11 plates in WY?

BigMeatballDave 05-01-2012 06:41 PM

No moving violations in nearly 10 yrs.

I rock.

there's a difference between speeding and careless & imprudent.
location, location, location.
