I'm kind of surprised the Lions haven't signed and announced their pick yet. Stafford's agent must be playing hard ball.

According to a "source inside the organization," both the Lions and Matthew Stafford believe the Georgia quarterback will be the No. 1 overall pick regardless of any differences in contract talks.
This has been the general sentiment throughout the day Friday, and a loose agreement could be announced as soon as Friday night.

Take it for what it's worth, but anything other than Stafford would be a shock.

Wouldn't it work the best for us to have Stafford drafted and then Sanchez falls into our lap? That would make him a hot commodity, since there's no other QB that has that much value as him for at least 20-25 picks.

Maybe they'll remember they're the Lions and draft Aaron Curry.

Theoretically, but having Curry go first means Stafford or Sanchez could go second via trade, leaving us with the other (and both) OTs to dangle at 3.

If Stafford goes first, and then the Rams undercut us with a deal with another team, we're left with no value at #3.

It looks like Stafford and his agent are working on the contract. He'll be the pick regardless if it's done or not I think.

Oh, I watched the Mankind/Undertaker Hell in the Cell match earlier tonight. That is a great ****ing match.
