Herm Edwards a Scout?

Ok, hold on, before i get the neg rep, would it be a bad idea to try to throw Herm into our new scouting dept? He has experience, he sure is hell isn't getting a HC job this year, (at least he shouldn't) and he knows the talent on this team well, and knows what we need.

He can still relate/communicate with the players and be around for support for some of the young guys that really like him.

And Clark doesn't seem to really want to get rid of him. If clark wants to keep him, i'd much rather see him in the scouting dept than a coaching gig (unless it's as a DB coach)

kcfanXIII 12-31-2008 02:13 PM

i'm sure he could find the 5-7 players we need to be competitive.ROFL

Herm is about as overrated a judge of talent as they come.

Hootie 12-31-2008 02:17 PM

If we fire Herm...he's not going to do shit for the organization...he is going to sit on his ass and collect his $4M...

Demonpenz 12-31-2008 02:18 PM

I only trust him with the defence, so we can get some more tank, turk and dorsey

crossbow 12-31-2008 02:19 PM

Sure, why not? He said they were 85% done with the rebuild and only need two more players on offense. Might as well let him go out and get that last 15%....

<cough> <choke> wonder if one of the two players on offense would be:

1) center
2) right guard
3) right tackle
4) wide receiver
5) quarterback
6) full back

Hey wait a minute. I just listed 6 positions of need out of a possible 11. That would be 54% of the offense. Hmm...

Reerun_KC 12-31-2008 02:58 PM

The guy is a marginal at best talent evaluator, Hell there are plenty out there that out scout Herm every year...

Besides when did he all of a sudden become this amazing scout anyway? He scouted a few DB's for the Buc back in the 90's and now he is qualified to field an NFL Team?

Dear God please, it hurts to laugh this hard! ROFL

Where is the article with the anonymous source that talked about how Herm doesn't like watching tape with scouts and just rushes through the whole process?

King_Chief_Fan 12-31-2008 03:08 PM

Edwards as a scout? Yes

For the Chiefs? No

blueballs 12-31-2008 03:22 PM

THere is a possibility they want to bring Herm into the front office
I'd rather that spot go to T-Rich
but that was Carl who said he wanted to bring him in when his playing days were done

acasas4 12-31-2008 03:26 PM

God no! Herm is a joke. He got a couple of good DBs and that's it. His D lineman sure haven't turned out to be studs.
How the hell did he even get to be a head coach? He was never even a coordinator before.
Oh yeah, Herm knows defense...ROFL

dorseybowe 12-31-2008 03:27 PM

That wouldn't happen.

Agreed.

ChiefsLV 12-31-2008 05:40 PM

Only if he is confined to only scouting the cornerback position. That seems to be the only position he's decent at scouting.

Phobia 12-31-2008 05:46 PM

I'm certain Herm would love a $3,920,000 pay cut.
