Chiefs to the rescue?
Chiefs to the rescue?
<Apr. 28> After entering the offseason as the No. 1 prospect at defensive end, Hali's stock dropped precipitously because of average workouts and fairly mundane 40-yard times. People found out that, although Hali was a good pass rusher, he didn't have as much explosive upfield speed as they had hoped. However, the Chiefs might provide Hali a safety net, writes ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli. The conventional wisdom is that Kansas City will choose a cornerback in the first round. But in the Cover 2 scheme that coach Herm Edwards will employ, the cornerbacks have to play run support as much as coverage, and the Chiefs feel the cornerback depth in this draft will allow them to get such a player in the second round. The Chiefs have been onto Hali for a while now and he would provide them another pass rusher to team with emerging star Jared Allen. ------------------ http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/rumors ------------------ Grain of salt-type post. I personally hope this is not the case. |
we are in love with Penn State players....

He will never be there at number 20. I agree about the corner though. And the pick of the Kansas City Chiefs is Marcus McNeil, OT, Auburn.
|
I will be absolutely "whelmed" by this pick.

This off-season, including the upcoming draft, is adversely affecting my bio-rhythms.
Why do I continue to experience this uncomfortable and distressing unease that, in reality, the Chiefs don't have a plan? FAX |
I will be happy with CB,S or DE with our 1st pick.
Who the specific player is......I trust Carl to get the right guy. :p |
If he is there and we take him, where does he play? I'd hate to sit Allen down, the guy is a sack machine. And I don't see them replacing Hicks either. The guy couldn't earn a starting spot on most teams, but it's like he's got Tenure here and doesn't have to worry about his position.

The logic still holds true. |
Really? When was Hali the #1 D-End? Because Kiwi was still ahead of him after the season ended, MK didn't drop until after the Senior Bowl, and Mario's been the #1 guy since the day he declared.

Like I said though, I don't think Hicks is going anywhere. The guy has 1 standout season in his career, then goes to par and subpar play but is a guaranteed starter. He's got to have compromising pics of Carl or something. |
If we go OT in the first round I will throw a fit of Vladlike proportions.

Mario Williams was #1 on everyone's board but you couldn't really call him it because he was only going into his junior year. Kiwi was the #1 senior on my board and I suspect most people's boards. As for when the season ended, Hali was the consensus #1 SENIOR end. |
