***Official 4/16/25 Royals (Bubic) at Yankees (Schmidt) GameDay Thread***
Today at 4:05 Pacific, the Royals will be facing the Yankees in the Bronx, Bubic on the mound for the Boys and Clarke Schmidt on the hill for the opposition.
Lines are +124 for KC and -148 for NYY if you must bet into a 20 cent line. Bubic got lit up in his last outing after dominating before that, while Schmidt makes his 2025 debut after a stint on the IL to start the season. He's real good though so the play just might be the under, but that line already reflects the pitching talent (total is 8). Personally I'm putting a half unit on KC and my undefeated GameDay thread record both on the line in this one. Let us gogogogogogo! |

Wild lineup today.
India Witt Jr. Pasquantino Perez Garcia (DH) Melendez Waters Tolbert Isbel. Four of those batters will be hitting from the left side, if I can use the adjective charitably, which is ideal against a RHP. Less ideal is having your best defensive third baseman in as DH, a pinch running specialist at 2B, and a solid 2B out of position at 3B. |
I am looking for a better run output today.

Royals 1
Yankees 3 |
LGR!! :grovel:

MJ has made adjustments, that somehow have made him worse.

Bubic escapes a bases loaded, 1 out jam.
|
2 of these grounders by the Royals were fielded by the pitcher. :shake:
|
Great jump on that fly ball by Isbel. Saved a run.

Joey Wiemer might be worth a call up. He was good on the Brewers. Has talent.
|
Isbel with the RBI triple, 3-2 yanks
|
Tied at 3 after India's groundout RBI.
|
Have you ended up releasing Cavan Biggio yet? I notice he's not in the lineup.

The pinch runner playing second base just cost he Royals the game, most likely. They could have played Garcia at 3B and India at 2B.
That's what you call "fancy play syndrome" and it's on management not the team. |

Schreiber holds them, 3-3 after 6 innings.

Well, so much for that, why bring him back out when Lynch is there?
|
Shame that jASS got hit. Too bad it wasn’t in the nuts.
|
Lynch out after all of 11 pitches, and Zerpa is in....4-3 yanks bottom of the 8th
|
Since the 2015 crew we have been the Yanks AAA team. Don’t see it changing when they visit Kauffman. Manager is soft. JJ needs to sub him out for Ned to inject sone energy into the lineup. Pathetic

Oh Salvy...

Salvy looks like he is 1000 years old.

I think the Yankees double A team could ass whoop the Royals. 11 years without a series win in NY. They are beyond in their heads.
I thought they'd show a little more fire after those asshats Chisholm and Volpe clowned Garcia last year, but nah. |

That's about right. MJ rips one to tie the game and Bellinger does that.
|
MJ still blows
|
Games over, and Salvy still hasn't reached 1st base.
|
Siiiiiiiiiiigh……..

Bats are gonna heat up any day now…
Just be patient |
In 19 games, we’ve scored over 4 runs 2 times. That’s ****ing pathetic
|
It’s getting dangerously close to the time where I check out from the royals for a month.
I can’t take futility. |

He's guaranteed through 2026 with a 2027 buyout. How is it great bang for the buck when the Jays already have a subpar hitter with Gold Glove defense? |

The Jays ate his salary hoping they could get a $300 million dollar pitcher (Sasaki) for $8 million. Worth the trade off and the gamble. The Jays are printing money so it's not going to cripple them but Cleveland is one of the most efficient operations in baseball and they outrighted him off the roster and were willing to eat what was owed for him to play in the minors. |
Move this team to the Northland or Kansas. Let someone else pay for this mess. I'm getting tired of caring.
|
More unluckiness at the dish?
The good news is that the team has all the confidence in the world. In what, I have no idea... |

Not an outrageous take. Obviously he sucks. |

Little write up on Bubic's outing from Nick Pollack:
Kris Bubic (KCR) @ NYY (ND) – 5.1 IP, 3 ER, 7 Hits, 4 BBs, 6 Ks – 14 Whiffs, 35% CSW, 94 pitches. Blegh. The four-seamer, sweeper, changeup approach to RHB was all over the place, while he couldn’t get the slider or sweeper down to LHB. And yet, he still earned 14 whiffs and a 35% CSW. If only the sweeper wasn’t his most thrown pitch and his worst thrown pitch. Okay, maybe that’s the changeup, which was featured just eight times and looked pretty terrible. I’m glad we get Rockie Road up next, the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream equivalent to help pitchers get over their frustrating outings. |
