Dotel's World Series run - specifically his efforts against the Brewers in the NCLS - will go down in Cardinal lore.

Not because he was some unstoppable hell-beast. No, it's because I'm not sure he threw a single decent pitch in the entire post-season but every pitch was hung so badly that nobody could hit it.

Watching him completely baffle Ryan Braun by throwing nothing but hung sliders will always be one of my favorite baseball memories (because Ryan Braun is a prick).

I'm betting these days we'd chalk it up to some seam-shifted wake shit that makes betters think the ball should be acting in accordance with its spin when it just wasn't. But at the time, it sure looked like the guy just kept hanging sliders and hitters were swinging through them out of pure shock.

MLB players period. One of the Cards best prospects in 30 years died in a car crash there at 22 after his rookie season.

And this is why I don't attend trips to the Dominican Republic.

Wasnt every good for the Cardinals either except he had some great games pitching in the playoffs and World Series in 2011 when we won the pennant. Looks like you went out having some fun. RIP

With his long career for many teams, he'll live on as a nearly daily pick in immaculate grid.

No doubt. This is why I don’t attend clubs in the DR

If it weren't for Octavio Dotel, we never would've gotten Kyle Davies.

No one really thinks about being killed by a falling ceiling. They're always there above us, faithfully protecting us from sun and hail and rain and eagles. You never expect one to go rogue.
