Mike Edwards is back

Nice move. Thought was a solid player here. Allows Hicks to take on more of the Justin Reid role

Nice. We didn't have a true FS on the roster.

New World Order 04-03-2025 10:40 AM

Sweet. He played well here

Sassy Squatch 04-03-2025 10:42 AM

Neat. A nice backstop in case none of the young fellas can do the job.

Jewish Rabbi 04-03-2025 10:56 AM

Hope everyone is as horniey as me!!!

Chiefs defense is basically just missing Sneed from 2023. Safety room is different but has more range. Cook should be back to 2023 form now.

Chenal brings a different skillset from Gay but is roughly the same caliber of player and is better on ST.

We're gonna be nasty. Nasty AF.

And that’s BEFORE the draft.

We’re adding 2 contributors on the DL in the draft.

I could see this being 2023 with a slightly lesser secondary and a better pass rush.

Chargem 04-03-2025 11:12 AM

Really not a fan, did not think he played well 2 years ago

Why? Do you watch the games with your eyes closed?

I wonder if he ever makes his way back here, or if his body is broken beyond repair.

Would love to see a reunion if/when he gets cut or released by Tennessee in a year or two. I don't know the cap impact of what their options are with him, but I doubt he's a trade candidate on his current contract.

He’s a cut candidate next year based on his contract structure.

I wish he was a few years younger get but this should allow Hicks and Cook play more natural instead of playing FS. But I was kind of excited to see a guy Hicks size try it. Imagine him flying in from 20 yards deep.

Gary Cooper 04-03-2025 12:33 PM

I haven't paid attention to him since he left.

How did he look last season?

Mobilerudy 04-03-2025 12:36 PM

This dude get beat out by Hamlin? Must be beyond washed.

I'm assuming Connor is switching to safety next year. That should hopefully be a better fit for him.

Or they may decide to cut Williams/Johnson and keep Connor at #4 CB.

Small sample but PFF reckons pretty good, over 70 overall grade, 66 coverage. He isn't a great athlete, and he'll get greedy and get beat, but assuming it's dirt cheap it's a good depth pick and rounds out the room decently. I like it.

Pretty sure he was on 3 teams last year. Kind of makes me nervous.

Edit: Bills Titans and Bucs.

redfan 04-03-2025 01:14 PM

I like this re-signing.

Wisconsin_Chief 04-03-2025 01:17 PM

Man I love Veach.

BlackOp 04-03-2025 01:32 PM

Adding veteran depth that knows Spags...these kind of subtle moves make a difference in week 15 and players are beat up.

scho63 04-03-2025 02:04 PM

How am I supposed to feel about this? :hmmm:

Eh - he was solid enough in a limited capacity but we tended to give him a fairly small role.

As a depth safety, I don't have a problem.

If we need him for more than maybe 4-500 snaps, I think we're overexposing him quite a bit. He was extended a bit in any of those games where we were asking more than 30ish snaps from him and that was 2 seasons ago.

I don't think it's likely that he's gotten any better or more capable of taking on increased responsibility since.

If he's a Deon Bush replacement, that's fine. If we see him as any sort of base FS option, that's gonna be a problem.

he was a solid role player for us just 2 years ago, I doubt he's that washed.

Bump 04-03-2025 02:40 PM

And in case anyone forgot, he was part of that epic play vs Miami where McDuffie strips Tyreek, Edwards scoops up the fumble and laterals it to Cook and Cook brings it in for a TD.

Bowser 04-03-2025 02:42 PM

Nothing to hate about this signing. Great veteran depth addition that knows the defense and works well within it.

BossChief 04-03-2025 03:23 PM

Love the ballhawks like him.

Great depth signing that will help the young guns improve ball skills.

Mike Pennel bounced around a bunch of teams before we stashed him on the PS and he held up pretty well the entire season for an old guy.

He’s one year removed from being decent for us. At least the guy should be able to get us a couple INTs. Last year’s safeties did jack crap.

T-post Tom 04-03-2025 05:01 PM

29 in May. 1 yr deal. Vet that knows the system. Good player. Well done, Mr. Veach.

Great signing for depth and veteran leadership to help with the young guys.
