When was the last time the Chiefs had a 2-deep OL like that?
I suggested something similar in another thread. Not what I would do (I’d let Trey walk), but I can understand the temptation to sign Smith and Jackson. The OL is likely set for this year and next when Thuney/Taylor could be gone. Some combination of Nourzad/Kingsley/Wanya should be ready for those two spots. |
I like it. Offense mostly taken care of via FA route. Defense infused with talent in the draft. Sign me up for this one!

I love it.

If you don’t sign Smith, you’re replacing likely 4 starters over two years. Nowhere to go but up from our LT situation, but those other 3 spots are a little scary. Smith + Jackson + Creed makes me feel much better about the OL after this year. You likely have the LG and RT replacements on the roster already with another year of development. I also like that the replacements would be on opposite sides of the OL. |
Quote:
You can spend big on OL and still round out your roster really damn good because the meat of the draft is on defense. |
Quote:
Gordon or Devin Neal in the 4th could round out a majorly upgraded position. |
Chris Paul is going by Poo Paul, great name man.

Yes, Duncan Idaho, swordmaster of Ginaz, slayer of Saudaukar? Insert Michael Fassbender perfection GIF here |
Throw this one in the dumpster fire. Alaric Jackson back to LA on 3/57. Yeesh. He would have got more on the market I think.
I don't like anyone else enough on the market to really get all giddy about. God, I ****ing dread Cam Robinson and that's probably our guy. FML. |

Back to square one for a LT
|
So draft wise, we are in position for one of these 2...
Josh Conerly Jr., OT, Oregon Conerly gave up just two sacks over three seasons at Oregon Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota Ersery is a massive blocker at 6-6 and 330 pounds, and he shows ample power and movement skills on tape. He allowed just four sacks over 39 college starts. |

Not only that aspect, but the Ravens have outright said they really want to bring Ronnie back. I think if they really want him, he'll sign there. I believe we're looking squarely at Dan Moore Jr, Cam Robinson, and Jaylon Moore as potential solutions, and Jaylon Moore has very limited experience. If that's not a shit sandwich, I don't know what is. I'd just as much like to take a shot on Jaylon Moore getting better over those other two. Cam Robinson is worse than Wanya Morris. Why on Earth people think he's a legitimate solution is beyond my comprehension. Dan Moore is a step above Robinson. Jaylon Moore played better than either in limited work. Hell, I'd probably trade Trey Smith to Chicago for Braxton Jones and some picks if they aren't committed to him long-term over any of those guys. He's been knicked up, though, too. I am confident Chicago is taking a LT at #10. Poles already came out and said there would be competition at the position. They sit in a really good spot to get Simmons. |

I wonder if the more realistic way of utilising Trey Smith is a trade and using assets gained for a trade up to get Conerly? I mean, no idea where that guy goes, but do they give up Braxton Jones given he seems to be a really solid LT? |
With Jackson resigned to the Rams and your boy Milum tumbling draft stock, maybe there is another short arm tackle you can pump up?
|
Is Josh Simmons worth trading up for? Is there another OT worth pursuing if he is taken by the Seahawks (18) or packers (25)? I guess I am asking what is Plan B? What other OT's do you like/have interest in the draft/FA?
