NFL Combine Thread
Let’s discuss the combine here.
Which players are going to make the biggest upward or downward movement for themselves at the combine? Thursday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. -- Defensive linemen, linebackers Friday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. -- Defensive backs, tight ends Saturday, March 1 at 1 p.m. -- Quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs Sunday, March 2-3 at 1 p.m. -- Offensive linemen Results: https://www.nfl.com/combine/tracker/.../all-colleges/ |
I think both the OL and RB projections will be shaken up.
|
DBs always tend to sort out
|
I wanna see Devin Neal’s 40.
His “long speed” is seen as a weakness. If he runs well, maybe he raises his stock to the third round. |
I can’t ****ing wait for it to get going already.

Something going on with Luther Burden?
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">So Todd McShay, Mel Kiper Jr., and Daniel Jeremiah all have Missouri WR Luther Burden III falling out of Round 1 in their mock drafts.<br><br>I don’t get it. Are we missing something off the field?</p>— Marcus Mosher (@Marcus_Mosher) <a href="https://twitter.com/Marcus_Mosher/status/1894368562048881029?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 25, 2025</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

He's been a great gadget weapon for Mizzou. I'd say his strengths are his ability to break tackles and make people miss in space (he is absolutely phenomenal at this - exceptional contact balance, would be elite for a RB - like Deebo Samuel, but not a broke-dick) and his ability to make plays down the field in single coverage situations. He is really adept at going up and getting back shoulders, or just going up for the ball in general. I think his hands are a plus. He seems to have a feel for finding space against zone coverage. Honestly, his QB play has really held him back. To me, if he had been playing with an elite QB, we're talking about him as the first WR taken. I haven't heard a hint of off-field stuff from him, but I'll do some checking. I think if he somehow falls to KC at 31, you should push the button and be pretty happy about it. You know Andy Reid would be able to get great production out of him as the gadget weapon, and he and Rice would be an incredibly dangerous combination for underneath stuff. I don't think Burden is really a traditional X at present (though he has the overall skills/package to become one, even if he's a little undersized at 5-11). That may be depressing his value, if teams look at him as a slot-only gadget guy. |
luther burden in our offense? jeesh. that's pure insanity.
|
Yeah I’ve been pining for burden, please be true because he’s going to be elite. His qb killed him this year. He will test well at the combine and I imagine he will climb back up boards unfortunately.
|
Did some checking.
Other than stuff you hear about a lot of star WRs - requires a lot of TLC, moody, pouty when not getting touches - there isn’t really anything. No pending legal or personal issues. |

Rice, Worthy, and Burden would be a dangerous WR core moving forward. ...My highlight reel pet peeve is that EVERYONE uses the same song!!! |

His 2024 highlights probably aren’t as good as this set:
https://youtu.be/Xi1_hKs5qIQ?si=6dApHpOD5YJown_s His QB played better last year. He looked better as a result. |

I just don't see Burden falling that far unless he bombs at the combine. I know we say "If he's there you have to take him at 31" about 20 different guys but I don't see Veach letting that one get by. Rice, Burden and Worthy. 2020 offense here we come.
|
When do the OL get measured?
I'm pretty sure Wyatt Milum is a really REALLY good football player and a damn nice fit for us. And I can't decide if I want him to measure short so he falls to us at the back of 2, or if I want him to go out there with 34 inch arms so I can consider him at the back of 1. I think Milum is maybe the safest OL in this entire class. I'd be SHOCKED if he's not a really really really good Guard and I absolutely think that, at worst, he could be a Schwartz sort of proficient RT who gets by on athleticism and technique. |

DL measurements. Scourton a little shorter than I thought. Harmon is perfect on paper.
Spoiler!

Alfred Collins looked pretty fluid a bit ago

This guy next to Jones would be fun.

Landon Jackson. I think we need to start talking about that guy.
|
Just so, so much DL talent. I’ll be a little sad if they don’t get at least two from this draft.
Something like … Nolan or Harmon And Princely Would be boner inducing. |
Never heard of this Kain Medrano guy, but he looks really athletic

If we're going to have a $100 million OL, I'm not sure what choice we have but to save money on defense. Because sign Smith or trade him - we HAVE to pay for an OT. So Smiths money isn't coming from the OL - it's coming from the DL. |

9.75 overall score. Big time athlete here, but kinda small. Looks like most projections had him late or undrafted. Seems like the type of athlete you throw a late pick at or prioritize as a UFA. |

Two guys who seem to have disappointed, and I'm kinda happy about, are Princely and Deone Walker.
I might have expected a little more than the 4.7 from Princely, but I really haven't seen the apparent speed from him on tape, his first step is repeatedly just...not that impressive. Given he's on the visit list I don't hate him not showing up. Walker, man, he's just too stiff and upright. I'm not convinced he doesn't go in 3rd somewhere. |

How do these guys keep getting so much bigger, stronger, faster every year? And when do we reach the peak of human athletic ability and start to see a cap on what’s humanly possible? lol I talk about this all the time with my HS football buddy, these kids just keep getting better every generation. |

I dunno -- I mean maybe with a 4th? And if we had a 5th, that's probably where I'd be looking at him. He's more of a BJ Thompson sort of overaged developmental pick on the 3rd day than anyone I'd be looking to target in the first 2 days in a class this deep at DL. |

4.63 40 for Ferguson
|
Helm got to the 4.8 range on his second attempt
|
Quote:
I really expected him to pop athletically. When a guy with quality of competition concerns doesn't time well, people start to re-evaluate the tape really closely and it often goes very poorly for them. |
Arroyo would've had a great combine, but it might be a good thing that he wasn't able to showcase his athleticism.
|
Quote:
Mason Taylor has been the winner of this group. Just looks smooth and natural doing everything. It was sad to see Luke Lachey look like that. That lower leg injury that knocked him out a few years ago appears to have sapped a lot of his explosiveness. |
Arroyo makes me nervous. Giving off Greg Dulcich vibes. Size, speed, fluidity, natural pass catcher but can’t stay healthy
|
Surprised Helm ran so slow. He doesn't look THAT slow.
Doesn't matter, going to pay nothing but attention to OL. With Alaric Jackson going back to LA, there isn't anyone worth a shit on the market. |
Taylor looked by far like the best athlete. I wouldn't mess with any of the rest of them.
|
Worthy’s Texas teammate Isaiah Bond said he’s gonna beat Worthy’s record. Guess we’ll see
|
Judkins ran 4.48
|
Blue-4.40
Henderson-4.43 Harvey-4.41 Tuten-4.38 Yup we’re drafting a RB alright |
For the locals
Giddens-4.43 Neal-4.60 …uh oh |
Was not expecting Hampton to run mid 4.4's
Can't wait to see Tuten prime time during player introductions |

Skattebo 39.5" vert. If he runs a decent 40 he could easily be off the board before we pick in the 2nd.

So Bhayshul Tuten...
is the most athletically explisive RB in this class (40, broad, vert)... Averaged huge YAC in college... Catches the ball extremely well... Is a dynamic run-away threat every time he touches it... I mean, if the fumbles can be cleaned up, there's every reason to think that can be a superstar playmaker who fits in the KC offense the exact way a superstar playmaker RB needs to fit... |
Lot of guys ran even faster times on the 2nd try. Woo buddy

Just like Henderson not running quite as fast as he plays. |
Gordon and Neal didn’t run too well.
If we could get Neal in the 4th or 5th, sign me up. |
Some guys like Blue and Sampson had a bit of a fumbling issue but I think that’s correctable so not really worried.
The challenge for the Chiefs is gonna be getting a guy they think can be a 3 down back year 1. A guy who can block on 3rd down. Outside of the OSU kids who will be gone in rd 2, none of these hyper athletic guys appear to be above average at blocking which will make them 2 down backs as rookies. They are tough and are willing but may need time to develop that area of their game. Kind of like Jamaal Charles. Wasn’t great at early but really became a great blocker. That’s the key, bc it doesn’t matter how good of a back you are, if you can’t block at an adequate level, you can’t be out there on 3rd down. |
Judkins had one of the best 10 yard splits of the backs.
|
Quote:

Matthew Golden 4.30 wow

Feel like Hampton locked himself in at RB2 with that time at 220+ lbs.
Judkins may have pushed himself even/ahead of Henderson. Those are impressive performances from those two. |
Yes. Let that 40 time push Henderson down to us.
|
Quote:
Now obviously, you have to have big runs to get caught from behind so it’s not a total negative. He’d probably be RB1 most years. Really complete back. |
