Rapaport: Kelce undecided about future, may retire after Super Bowl

Let's win this for Travis...

Nick Wright is saying the same thing… wouldn’t be surprising.

TripleThreat 02-08-2025 06:36 PM

Id hope he’d stick around another 2 years while we draft his replacement. Would nice to see a gronk/hernandez type thing.

Calcountry 02-08-2025 06:36 PM

I Saw him getting misty in the postgame interview on Christmas. Kind of look you get when you realize it’s almost over.

DCTwister 02-08-2025 06:39 PM

If we win, you know he’s gotta get one more….

digger 02-08-2025 06:41 PM

Surely he wants to be around for 4 in a row... I think he has one more year in him...

We already had our Hernandez in Belcher

RealSNR 02-08-2025 06:45 PM

It’s going to happen eventually. Don’t want to see him go, but I’m excited for Pat to see who he can turn into another all time great receiving threat.

Also, not saying Rapesheet is wrong, but remember when Jay Glazer ****ed up last year and thought Andy was thinking about retiring?

BigRedChief 02-08-2025 06:46 PM

Rappaport doesn't post BS or his own speculation. He has a public history years long.

I believe that's what he was told by someone close to the situation.

Rainbarrel 02-08-2025 06:46 PM

2 Receiving TD’s
A lateral TD
A PASSING TD TOO BITCHES.

A SBMVP, Jerry Rice’s reception record and a THREEPEAT on his way out, boys!

Let’s get it.

staylor26 02-08-2025 06:51 PM

I don't quite buy it, but it's definitely a possibility at the very least.

FloridaMan88 02-08-2025 06:54 PM

Seeing how his brother effortlessly transitioned to a full fledged media career, is probably a factor as well.

BWillie 02-08-2025 07:00 PM

Guys if he wins he is proposing and retiring all on stage after the game.

He is the greatest showman.

In58men 02-08-2025 07:20 PM

I want this to happen lol.

Since we’re considered the most annoying team now. I say he should retire, but stay in shape. Come out of retirement towards the end of regular season for one last run lol.

Similar to what Brady did, but more annoying lol

@AdamSchefter: BREAKING!!! Former @Chiefs TE Travis Kelce announced he’s coming out of retirement, per sources. He’s back for another Super Bowl run. #ChiefsKingdom

Just stay petty lol

chiefzilla1501 02-08-2025 07:22 PM

It’s clickbait. Rappaport also said kelce feels like he could play a few years and loves the game a ton. And then spins a headline like kelce isn’t sure when from the sound of it, all that means is that he is focused on the game. I am guessing barring some injury he will be back. Jason did this same thing for several years. If travis is choosing to retire while healthy I find it hard to believe he wouldn’t do a farewell tour where he can cherish every week.

chiefzilla1501 02-08-2025 07:30 PM

What’s unique to Jason’s situation that’s totally different from Jason’s is Travis can keep playing in a more limited role. Maybe I’m just being overly optimistic. But feel like Andy sticking around for at least another year means Travis will be back

He can make that in his first year of being a civilian. He'll get $10 million for his first movie with an additional % of the gross. He's getting $10 million a year from the podcast. And easier work with no one looking to clock his ass.

No, he is not. I imagine Travis is sincerely evaluating whether he’ll play next year or not and hasn’t committed. The headline makes it sound like he’s really strongly considering retiring. This feels a lot like Jason kelce the year before he retired where I believe he sincerely was thinking about it but knew he wanted to go back unless someone talked him out of it

If he does then I totally understand. We would be fine. Rashee was taking over as the new Kelce. Him and Worthy alone are gonna be a great combo. Would most likely keep Hollywood as well.

This is a great year to draft a TE. We need to do it regardless of Kelce’s decision

ForeverIowan 02-08-2025 07:38 PM

It feels too early. Dude literally just lit up the Texans. If I had to guess he finishes his contract and next year is his last.

I also recognize some monster opportunities may be waiting on him on the other side. Maybe he wants to take advantage of that while the iron is hot so to speak. His celebrity status outside of football will never be bigger.

Would be interesting what Veach would do with that $20M in cap savings if Travis did move on.

Really...He just told Pat MacAfee that he still enjoyed coming to work and could not see himself walking away.

ForeverIowan 02-08-2025 07:48 PM

Travis Kelce and Myles Garrett have damn near IDENTICAL 2025 cap hits. Just sayin...

Iconic 02-08-2025 07:50 PM

i really don't think he's retiring. most of the words out of his own mouth have said the exact opposite. i think he plays out his contract at minimum and from there it's a crapshoot.

philfree 02-08-2025 07:53 PM

Travis can make so much money with a farewell tour...He's the perfect personality for a farewell tour...win or lose I think he plays one more year.

Okchief80 02-08-2025 07:55 PM

I could see him retire if we win. I am just I got to see him play for my favorite team. I would be cool with another year. I hope he decides soon after the game. We need to spend that money off he is retiring.

Rain Man 02-08-2025 08:03 PM

I hope he's still around for the quadripeet. But I've noticed in the playoff games that players have been coming up after the wins with some worrisome poignancy. I hope I'm just imagining that.

We love your imagination:clap:

dlphg9 02-08-2025 08:16 PM

It makes no sense for him to retire. Just the other day he was asked what he thinks he will be doing in 3 years and he said hopefully playing football. There are so many reasons for him to keep playing and not really many reasons why he should retire.

He's said that he would hang them up when he is no longer helping the team. He's probably no longer the best TE in the league, but he is top 3-5.

He was a huge reason why we won the first Houston playoff game.

He's due to make $11.5 mil just for being on the roster and an additional $4.5 mil during the season.

He's played this game for probably close to 30 years and he knows when he quits, then he's never playing again. Guys like him retire when they can't play at a high level anymore.

I could see it. He'd be the only player in the history of the league to retire as a three-time defending champ, and he might sync up going into the Hall of Fame with his brother if he did it. Plus, he's been dabbling with roles in movies, has his broadcasting/podcasting career in front of him, and he does date some gal that might be famous or something.

I could definitely see him hanging it up if we win.

Rainbarrel 02-08-2025 08:29 PM

There are other ways to play football outside the NFL. Maybe in his own series

Eh the dude flat out loves the game. Once he’s done he can never go back.

Before Jason retired he waffled but you can tell he wanted to play but wanted to make sure Kylie was cool with it. The next season he waffled but you can tell he was drained and ready to move on.

I would honestly be surprised. Jason was sent off with every game his final season being something really special. And I just can’t imagine Travis not wanting that kind of send off.

He's got his whole life to do the media stuff. What's another couple of years of football? He doesn't have kids. It just makes no sense. He loves football.

If he and Taylor are getting married, and they both know it, $20 mil for playing football next year is truly meaningless. She is a billionaire.

Let's get real here. Reid said he is coming back. When the CHIEFS WIN this SB, the call out is going to be the Steelers chant, ONE FOR THE THUMB! If the CHIEFS can keep Hollywood Brown with Rice coming back, Worthy becoming great, Gray doing what he does and Pacheco - why would Kelce not come back 1 more year? Not buying it. :thumb:

Id agree there. On paper, it may very well be the best Chiefs team ever. Rice was playing like an All-Pro prior to injury. Worthy is on the verge of becoming a household name as well. At this point Id be somewhat surprised if Hollywood isnt back. Who knows land an explosive stud rookie running back in the draft sky is the limit.

Reid already said he is back. Itd be hard for Kelce to turn that down.

This will be the reerun level of the media as soon as the 3peat paint is dry.

I fully embrace it. Dumb shit like "Can Mahomes win one without Kelce" will drive Pat to get the 4th one done. It's not even honest - it's imaginary bullshit slung out there so if he can't win 4 in a row they have some narrative to spout against him.

They're Red-tards. They see Chiefs red and all rational thought stops. They have full Chiefs derangement syndrome and now even obvious and common sense items like Pat's 5 SB's will be measured by meaningless minutia.

Pat isn't vocal enough, political enough, black enough, cultured enough, or some other nonsense behavior that's actually paired with jealousy and hatred because their team just can't beat Pat.

Good. We've been there - we know how much it hurts. Now that we're on top we want it to hurt. You losing is every bit as much fun as us winning and growing more and more enjoyable by the day. Josh has proven that with the ball in his hand and the ability to win the game in front of him he just doesn't have it when it matters.

Lamar has proven he just doesn't have the RAM to read a playoff defense and make the right play. He IS the reason his team loses. He, himself, is responsible for 2 or more turnovers per game. He's no daisy a'tall.

And Burro. Poor Burro, the boss just can't afford to put a team around you. The Bangles fired the pro turd-polisher that elevated mediocre talent to a smothering and opportunistic defense. They can't pay the few studs they have and so the day of Burro competing with Mahomes for SB runs are long over.

I don’t know how anyone can question his work ethic. He played like a 35 year old. He needs more managed reps. And he can dominance these days is based on if a defense wants to take him away or not. He has plenty of gas left in the tank if we start getting very comfortable managing his reps which is pretty surprising we’ve only done sparingly so far
