My friend, Seclark
It’s not often that I don’t have the words, but this is one of those times. Today I received a message from Mrs Seclark that she asked me to share with all of you. It’s not an easy message to even type.
Sec passed away this morning after a battle with cancer and ALS. We communicated semi regularly and it was always a pleasure. Scott was one of the best humans, who lived to love his family and friends. Never once did he complain about his challenges, he was always so positive…and usually more concerned with what was going on with me. I can’t do him justice in this message, but in some of our last texts, when I mentioned his illness, he said the following quote that defines the man for me: “I haven’t tasted food in 3 months. But I Am Blessed! I have family and friends who love me and stay with me. I have elders and a pastor who visit me. My grandchildren are my pride and joy and they come and see me. That’s all I need in life” He was a great, great guy and I’ll miss him on a personal level. A random poster on a message board became someone I consider one of my best pals in life. I hope I can become as good of a man as I considered him to be. It is my hope that CP can honor him, and I will find an appropriate cause or fund that his family supports and ask those who considered him a friend, Like I did, to honor him that way. -Sec forever. |
Damn. Thanks for letting us all know. Tell his wife our prayers are with her.
|
Damn. RIP to a great CPer.
|
RIP sir. Great CP'er.
|
Dude was going through his own medical stuff yet he reached out several times after my wife passed.
Good dude. RIP |
RIP
|
A prayer to him and his Family.
|
Much respect RIP
|
Prayers for his family. RIP.
|
Wow. RIP. Very sorry to hear this.
|
Love you so much Sec. 💔
Thank you for being the best one. |
Well this sucks. Hopefully Sec and Haywire are able to watch the game together Sunday. Much respect for both of them. They had more dignity with their diseases than I think I would ever have.
|
May he rest in peace. Prayers for his family.
|
Damn. RIP sec.
|
Someone you could tell was a solid person just by their post. RIP Sec.
|
Oh, man. He was the best. I'm really sorry to hear this.
|
Thanks for letting us all know....prayers to his family and prayers for you as you deal with this loss.
|
He's been battling for years, and I really admire how he handled all of the adversity. I know he's been pretty vocal behind the scenes, offering others who were dealing with their own health issues encouragement. He was clearly a hell of a guy, and we'll miss him around here.
|
:(
Sad. I only knew him through the internet, but the guy had a terrific sense of humor. Loved his short efficient punchlines that were punctuated with his signature "sec" at the end. And obviously one hell of a great human. RIP sec |
RIP
Dude deserved better. I've been thinking back and I don't think I've ever heard an unkind word said about him. |
Always enjoyed him as a poster and it seems like he was a really great guy. He will be missed for sure.
|
Never was lucky enough to meet him, but seemed like a wonderful human being. He'll be missed for sure.
RIP, sec. |
Clearly he was in rough shape the last time he was able to post, but even so, I think his final posts say a lot about him. Shit sucks, but he was excited to go home and see his family.

Probably 20 years ago…when I was still embarrassed to tell anyone in y real life that I “chatted online”…and still never tell people that….
I did a small favor for sec, just a simple painting on an Indian axe head he had found. He trusted me and shipped it, I painted and shipped it. Not long after I received a shipping tube in the mail from him…. He had hand made me an authentic arrow with an arrowhead he had found in the river. I’ve always kept it in a place of prominence….and showed him a pic of that that this summer when I stopped at his house for our first…and way too late personal meeting. That arrow is one of my most valued possessions. He wasn’t much for words on the main board….but when your Son is in the burn unit, or you’re dealing with other things he learned about, that you don’t really tell people about, there wasn’t a better ear in the PM universe. |
Wow! RIP.
Threads like these always suck so much as another one moves on. Prayers to his family for strength during this time. Lastly the Chiefs have to three-peat now in honor of his memory. |
What an outstanding man and human being. Prayers to the family and friends. RIP sec. You will be missed.
|
One of the nicest posters on any board I frequent.
RIP to Sec.... Thoughts and Prayers to his wife and family!!! |
My favorite Sec story.
Well, besides Iowanni’s now. Quote:

Sucks but am glad the guy is no longer suffering from the ailments. Will sign this post in tribute. RIP

RIP to a Chiefsplanet original and a hell of a guy. I can't say that I ever had any direct conversations with him here, but I'll remember him as one of the CP greats.
FU cancer, haven't you taken enough lives? |
Will be very missed here.

His stories were legend.
RIP sec - a true CP gem. |
Sec reached out to me, a random stranger who is more interested in making snarky remarks than having serious discussion, with his personal phone number asking to reach out any time when he learned of my cancer diagnosis. His condition was far beyond where mine was. Says all you need to say about him.
Let’s win another Super Bowl for sec. RIP, and another **** cancer. |
Well dang.
RIP, CP brother. Def gonna be missed. |
May he rest in peace. This hurt.
|
RIP Sec
Damn, we lost a good guy today. :( |
It is amazing the strength and selflessness that many of the CP'ers have displayed here in their final days of life.
He was always a generous, considerate poster and he apologized to me once when he accidentally thumbed down a post due to his illness. He thought of me during his time of serious illness. What an incredible soul. RIP and God Speed to the loss of another great poster, seclark, whom I admired very much. |
Sad to hear about Sec passing, he was a good poster and I'm sure a great guy IRL.
Nice words Iowanian, thanks for the post. |
RIP :(
|
Dammit....
I really admired his positivity given all the crap he had to deal with.... RIP. |
RIP
|
RIP.. I didn’t know him but feel like I do now.. For him to mean so much to posters I respect means a lot… He will probably take a short timeout from watching over his family to check out the game Sunday… Chiefs are lucky to have him as a fan..
Prayers to his family….. |
Sad to see this. He seemed like one of the good ones and drew such a brutal hand. Sorry for your loss, Iowanian.
|
Never interacted with him but saw his posts a few weeks ago and was pulling for him to make it to the Super Bowl. It's a damn shame and condolences to those who knew him. RIP
|
Damn, didn't know of his struggles. Do remember him talking to Haywire I believe which makes sense now. RIP
|
Thank you for letting us know. He was such a good guy and really let his light shine there at the end. Prayers for his family. RIP my friend.
|
RIP Sec
|
I had the great pleasure of talking to him on the phone a couple of times.
Once was at Arrowhead where we trying to find each other in the parking lot. Super cool guy. Can't be stated enough One of a kind who leaves an incredible legacy behind that we would all be fortunate to acheive....one of cherishing all the important things in life. RIP, my friend. Won't be the same without you. |
Damn, he was such a good guy going all the way back to the old Star board. I was hoping he was doing better with everything, but this really sucks. RIP Sec
|
Damn. I'm so sorry to hear this.
|
Thanks for letting us know. And I agree with the others please let his wife, boys and family know they are in our prayers. We grieve with him even though people like myself didn’t know him outside here. 20 years or so you pick up things on people though. He’s one of them you really couldn’t find anything not to like but plenty to respect and admire!
It’s funny how like you said, this goofy posting online crap we do on this board about football has lead to people having impacts on other peoples lives. That’s remarkable. It truly is. I’m glad you had that opportunity to get to know him. Always admiring how much you could tell how much he loved and respected his wife. How much he loved his kids. Decent and funny. It’s not easy to be balanced in those ways but he sure made it seem easy! Like you mentioned, in his health battles and the way he handled it is something we should all be able to learn from. It set a great example for anyone who might have to go through the same or similar. That’s really awesome when a person can just be themself and by doing so they have an impact on people. And that’s just talking from my perspective of not ever meeting him. There’s been qualities of several of these folks that have passed recently and me personally I look at things that I like about them and if it’s something that I’m not like that I think maybe I can learn something there and try to improve that about myself. He was a really good guy to everyone. I’m sure you will find plenty of ways to honor him! Take care and God Bless you bro! |
Life is not fair, sec was a good dude. RIP Sec
|
Thanks for posting this, Pete. That was a lovely tribute to Scott.
I messaged frequently with sec over the last 20 years. Although we never met in person, I considered him a friend. He was just genuinely a good man and a CP legend. He will truly be missed. RIP, Scott. |
RIP to a great CPer. I will miss seeing your signature and your grace and attitude during these trying times was a great example to all of us. Prayers to you family and I hope you and Haywire and others are dancing in heaven on Sunday night.
as others have done, I feel compelled to sign this post appropriately... -Sec - |
RIP to one of the good guys out there. Hope his family finds peace and comfort

RIP. Only been a member since 2015 and I don't post often, but seeing this happen just tears at the heart strings. Opened the tab in my browser to read about the daily happenings and then I see this.. Man is it gut wrenching. My girl laughed at me because I started crying (**** you alcohol) and told me I actually do have a heart. Wish his family the best and I wish he could see his Chiefs do what no other team in the NFL has done, nor will ever do. Unfortunately, cancer is a bitch and steals way too much from us.
-sec |
Oh man... sec, I'll not forget you.
Travel quickly to the next life friend. From the sunshine to the sweet grass for you, sec. I'll miss you terribly. ****ing grief... |
I have no words. So many incredible people on CP that suffer in silence right until the end.
Rest in peace to a gentle man. |
Bummer. Wish he could have made it for one more Super Bowl. But his suffering is over.
RIP bud. :( |
‘ol timer.
Godspeed, Sec. |

RIP, Scott... you were a source of strength for so many
Heaven is now blessed with your presence |
I'm really sorry to hear this. Scott was always a very good poster and even a better person. I always had a lot of respect for him and the way he reached out to others in need, even though he was going through so much. I know he communicated with Hondo several times before Hondo passed.
Iowanian, I'm glad you had the chance to communicate with him as much as you did, I'm sure he really appreciated it. RIP friend, you were one of the best. |
Aw . . . dammit.
While I may not post here a lot, I always enjoyed his takes on things and he seemed like a guy I'd have enjoyed hanging out with if I was back in the Midwest. The original crew is getting thinner. Blessing on him and his family in these times. |
He was a good dude.
Love you, brother. |
Rest In Peace
