No way we get all those top teams at home and play the scrubs on the road. The NFL is cheating for the Chiefs crowd will go nuts.

Everyone will say Chiefs and Cowboys on Thanksgiving but if Roger wants to go after the NBA out of spite he'll put it on Christmas. Christmas is on a Thursday next year so there should be 3 games.

The main thing I remember is Smith throwing on third down for exactly one yard shy of the first down, over and over and over.

Home/Away schedule is insanely lopsided with only Buffalo as a hard road game. Hope the Jags game is one of their London games so I get to see the Chiefs live for the first time.

I'd kind of like it if our guys don't get anymore short rest holiday games shoved up their asses next year.

The schedule is formulaic. It depends on if we are playing them as a part of the regular Division vs Division once every 3 year rotation or the Division finisher every year rotation.

In 2020 we played at Buffalo because we played the whole AFC East Division and it was our turn to play there. Then in 2023 we played the AFC East and played Buffalo at home because it flips. In 2026 we'll go back to Buffalo

In 2021 and 2022 we played them at home as the East vs West 1st place finishers. Since there are 3 other division champs it doesn't flip flop every other year. For example the AFC West champ plays the AFC East champ at home 2 straight years (21 and 22) and then it flips for 2 straight years. So we got them this year as division champs. We'll go back there in 2025 as division champs. Then in 2027 (because 2026 is a division v division year) we'll host them again (assuming both teams finish in the same position within the division in 2026).

The schedule is a predetermined formula.

You'll always play the other first place teams in the AFC as long as we keep getting 1st place. They shift around the divisions you play every year but you'll still get the other 1st place teams.

Every year you play:
6 Home and Away within division
2 Away vs another AFC division
2 Home vs the same AFC division
2 Away vs an NFC division
2 Home vs the same NFC division
1 Home vs team with same place finish in previous season in AFC
1 Away vs team with same place finish in previous season in AFC
1 Home/Away (it rotates every year) vs NFC team with same place finish in previous season vs the division that was played the season before last (the 17th game that was added a few years ago).

The single most remarkable thing is that people here need to be reminded of this literally every single year.

We basically know 14 of our 17 opponents - and if they're home/away - several years out barring some overall scheduling change.

We were just in Germany ****ing last year, and wasn’t it London the year before, or was that two years ago? Either way, there are enough teams that there should be a led ent layoff between international games.

But given how the league likes to do stupid shit with our schedule, we’ll likely end up with one any way, Because Chiefs (the ONLY time that saying is still relevant).

The Raiders have become even more irrelevant.

It was confirmed over 2 decades ago when the league started scheduling the way they do now.

I know how they used to do the 16 game schedule. It was perfect.

How do they determine the 17th game? Do you play the NFC equivalent? The Chiefs are the 1 seed, so they will play the 1 seed from the NFC?

Not exactly. The Chiefs will play a team - with the same ranking - from the NFC division that they faced off against 2 years prior. So, they played the NFC West a couple years ago and that's why it was 49ers this year. They played the NFC North last season and thus next year it'll be the Lions or Vikings (whoever finishes 1st). The year after that it will be the winner of the NFC South which they faced this year.

It's basically to keep some rotation where teams aren't just meeting each other every 4 years.

Buffalo might as well join the AFC west that way we can occasionally get them at Arrowhead.

All of this is true. But, it wont stop the meme of "the NFL is in the tank for the Chiefs" from continuing on.

FOX had the most recent Dallas/KC game in 2021, so seems like CBS, NBC, or ABC/ESPN will get next year's match-up.

CBS gets the Dallas Thanksgiving game in 2025.

Doubtful that the game will go to Amazon Prime, and of course it couldn't be played on Black Friday since Dallas plays on Thanksgiving.

The broadcast networks would definitely be pissed if they gave the game to Netflix on Christmas.

besides the jags, who've never played on thanksgiving, the chiefs actually have the longest thanksgiving day "drought" if you wanna call it that. so it would make sense to go to dallas then. i have a feeling the nfl likes to keep us on christmas though.

I just don't see them wasting the Chiefs/ Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Turkey Day will get the ratings anyway, and the Chiefs/ Cowboys will be a huge draw no matter when it's played.
