Kind of surprised someone else (Hammock?) didn't already post one of these. Excuse me if I did this wrong or stepped on someone's toes. Just thought we needed one for good luck.

Anyway, let's welcome our newest WR, Deandre Hopkins to the Kingdom, right?

Without further ado, I present to CP, Nuk doing what only he can do:

It's insane that his hands are noticeably big in real time

Megatron96 10-28-2024 11:09 PM

Just some fun pregame clips from LV. Ignore the title, no one's running full speed.

Direckshun 10-28-2024 11:14 PM

God it was so refreshing seeing Mahomes fire darts at him and he aggressively snatches the ball without a problem.

This is going to be such a great acquisition.

Looked SHARP in his first game!

Chris Meck 10-29-2024 06:45 AM

Megatron gets his man!

And at a price I can happily accept.

That's called a 'win/win'.

The sideline throw made me all tingly, especially when thinking about where Mahomes' trust in him will be after a week of practice with him and watching the tape of the Raiders game. Hopkins was open, a LOT.

FloridaMan88 11-04-2024 11:46 PM

I am glad Veach isn’t as dogmatic as some people here are about trading/signing players over 30 years old.

Of course you don’t want to overpay or build your team around aging players… but selectively adding them is beneficial.

Similar to Melvin Ingram’s impact on the defense in 2021.

-King- 11-04-2024 11:55 PM

Man Worthy should follow Hopkins around like a lost puppy. He should emulate basically everything Hopkins does on the field and to prepare.

That would be ideal. Ditto the entire WR room. They should be doing everything they can to emulate Nuk's every move. His every thought process. It can only make them better. I mean, maybe Skyy could be salvaged if he spent all of his waking hours trying to be like DHop. Maybe Ross as well.

smithandrew051 11-04-2024 11:58 PM

It’s probably no coincidence that Hopkins, Kelce, and Hunt play well and Mahomes (mostly) looks like himself again.

Let’s get Juju, Hollywood, and Pacheco back in the mix, then we’ll really be rolling.

OL kinks will work themselves out.

This team’s best days are still to come.

i think there's real value in telling a guy "this is your chance to get one with us" and they can trust you aren't bullshitting. they can pour out everything they have left in the tank.

100x this. A true HOF Caliber WR is in the building. Worthy should be learning every little bit he can.

Skyy is a lost cause. I’ve said this before that I think Ross got elevated because he can shadow dhop. We may need him to keep dhop fresh or, god forbid, use him in a pinch. I think mahomes will learn to become a different qb who begins to trust his WRs to do more than he has recently. I think Ross more than any of our other WR depth benefits the most from this.

****Official Deandre Hopkins Thread****

I predicted about 60 yards a game for around 650-700 yards here. Might be quite a bit under on that.

All CLASS!

Couch-Potato 11-05-2024 12:19 PM

He looks incredible out there!

All around pro, he and Mahomes look like they’ve been playing together for years.

Looking like an absolute steal!!!

ghak99 11-05-2024 12:31 PM

In the post game he admitted that he might have ran the wrong route. LMAO

An old pro just being honest and humble is refreshing. He seems very grateful to be here and appreciative of the coaches and team for cramming him with the info he needs to try to get up to speed.

He's also making it painfully obvious that we haven't had a set of hands like this for decades. Those big ass paws have ball magnets in them.

comochiefsfan 11-05-2024 12:36 PM

When’s the last time Patrick had a receiver actually make a play for him on a fifty-fifty ball like the one Hopkins made on the long throw last night?

He’s a breath of fresh air for the offense.

dlphg9 11-05-2024 12:44 PM

Holy shit, he's better than I ever could have imagined. He's not like any pass catcher this team has ever had. If he was here to start the season I think there is a very high chance he gets another all pro season.

Megatron96 11-05-2024 12:58 PM

I think 800 yds/10 TDs is a real possibility. Depends on exactly when JJSS comes back, and whether Andy keeps dialing up 6+ targets to Worthy for the rest of the season, but I feel like it's not that big a reach.

I mean kelce… kinda. Tyreek a few times. These guys are elite talents but just a different skill set. In terms of pure contested catches I don’t think we’ve really had a dhop. And that’s what I want for Mahomes… when he feels pressured just chuck it up and make your WR work for it. And sometimes you need some instant quick hitters whether that’s a quick slant or deciding to throw a jump ball right away no matter what.

I wasn't high on Hopkins and argued like a dumbass about what type of impact he could have and if he avoids getting hurt, then I have to say I was completely and totally wrong.

If he keeps this up, then he could be as important of a weapon as Moss was with Brady. I really hope he plays another season, because I would love to see him play a complete season with him and Mahomes on the same page.

I wonder if playing with Hopkins will change how Patrick evaluates WRs during the draft process and see more Justin Ross archetypes.

I doubt even DHop can get Mahomes interested in shitty WRs that aren't good enough to even get drafted.

chiefzilla1501 11-05-2024 02:06 PM

May this be a lesson to every WR out there. A qb can carry you all the way to the bank.

Juju and DHops careers were thought to be over. No gas left in the tank. These guys both sacrificed their whole reputation and future earnings chasing a few extra bucks to play with terrible QBs.

Hollywood had it right before he got hurt. Why don’t more Hollywood brown types use mahomes to get a big deal? And is it really worth it to chase a few extra million versus having a way more productive career?

ThaVirus 11-05-2024 02:07 PM

Hopkins may specialize in contested catches but he was out there running crisp routes last night.

The first TD was a nice move he put on the CB.

I love that someone brought up how Kurt Warner evolved from throwing to spots in St. Louis to realizing he had WRs who could make contested catches in Arizona. It does feel like some of this is mahomes learning how to play with new toys.
