Season starts tonight with Knicks and Celtics followed by Lakers and TWolves.

Will history be made early in the 2nd game?

The question isn’t if Lebron is the GOAT. The question is how much distance he adds between himself and second place this year.

I remember he had some falling out with Shannon Sharpe then tried to start up another one of those hot take machine shows with other grifters like Richard Sherman but afaik that flamed out spectacularly too.

He's unemployed and approaching 80. That was probably his last show.

That has been the same since 2016, but nobody wants to face that reality quite yet.

They shouldn’t be starting the season this early. Move it to Christmas time.

Saw him being interviewed on PMT the other day. Basically nothing, it seems. LeBron's career ended up both starting before and ending after his TV career.

Good luck convincing the owners to give up 20 games of revenue.

I have seen enough the Knicks aren’t beating the Celtics in a 7 game series. You can’t trust The 76ers so who else can? Honestly haven’t paid much attention during the offseason

Hoping for a much healthier season. Excited to see what Ja and Edey can do with some nice pick and rolls this season. Just hoping Edey doesn’t get shredded defensively!

smithandrew051 10-22-2024 07:42 PM

End of the Celtics game was hilarious.

Tie the 3 point record with like 10 minutes to go. Clank every attempt after that.

Ugh I really do not like Randles game. I just don’t get it. Divincenzo I get despite this dud. But I’ve always hated his effort and it always bothers me when players rely on holding the ball to score instead of being able to score in rhythm

If Bronny stays on this team at all after today, it’s pretty clear the team’s priority isn’t actually winning games this year.

DJ's left nut 10-22-2024 10:05 PM

Man.

Lakers bench is rooouuuugh.

And James still has some juice, but this is so completely Anthony Davis' squad at this point that it's a little bit terrifying. Because he's no sort of iron man and is going to take about 15% of the games he does play off in any given season.

And now they're getting just whupped on the glass.

I think they'll finish above .500. Maybe challenge 48 wins on the high side. But this team ain't very good.

DJ's left nut 10-22-2024 10:10 PM

Truthfully, I'm hard pressed to name anyone (apart from Davis) that's actually played well tonight for LA. Rui has been solid, I guess. Hayes has been good, especially as a rotational big.

But Russell is doing that "shoot them out of the game" shit. Reaves doing his best to aid him in that endeavor. Lebron's offense has been pretty inefficient (though his downhill game still looks pretty good). His defense has been...Lebron. I like what I've seen from Knecht but he's a rotation player at best.

Even with the lead, this team's giving me more questions than answers right now. Looks better coached than last year's version but I really felt like they needed Vincent to be a fairly significant contributor to have much success and they don't seem to be using him much.

DJ's left nut 10-22-2024 10:15 PM

Even when Edwards misses, he impresses the hell out of me.

LeBron was a top 10 player when healthy last year (and somehow doesn’t look like he’s lost much of a step still) but no way I’d pick him to play more than 60 games this year. 45 wins feels reasonable considering AD’s own injury issues.

KC_Connection 10-22-2024 10:17 PM

There’s also no way a 40 year old can continue to average 35 minutes a game so that will inevitably need to be cut down too. They don’t have the bench to really handle that.

DJ's left nut 10-22-2024 10:18 PM

Feels like Davis and Edwards are about to make this a 1v1 showdown over the last 5 minutes.

I've said it a lot, but the Lakers cannot lose ANY games where Davis plays like this. He has maybe 35-40 games/season where he decides "Yeah, I'm just gonna be the best player in the world tonight. See if you can stop me..."

Gotta win all of 'em.

Because when he's not, you aren't winning many.

I think Vanderbilt was the plan to suck up some of those minutes and his injury messed that up.

They'll try to make those lower use minutes where they can by going through Rui a bit more when the starters are out there as well.

Oh neat. My feed died. So that's cool.

DJ's left nut 10-22-2024 10:21 PM

{and p.s. the Lakers have been better with James on the bench than they've been with him in the lineup tonight anyway)

That won’t be the case in the games where AD doesn’t try (which is most of them).

KC_Connection 10-22-2024 10:24 PM

AD is singlehandedly winning this

DJ's left nut 10-22-2024 10:24 PM

Sweet Jesus, Anthony Davis.

This is a goddamn clinic.

You really can't play any better than he's played since he checked back into this game. This is unbelievable.

KC_Connection 10-22-2024 10:26 PM

Randle just feels like an awful fit for this team.

Randle was our best player during some real bad years and always played hard. I'll always have a bit of a soft spot for him (same as I do for D-Lo).

But honestly, he's an awful fit on ANY team with designs on winning anything. There are just too many things he doesn't do well and the things he's good at, he's by no means great at.

I do like DiVincenzo for them, though. So, that's good I guess.

Helps when the entirety of the league/media is keeping up the same lie…

I mean...everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, knows its bullshit.

It's not even really gaslighting. Not a single person thinks they're convincing anyone of it.

It's like talking about Santa Clause around adults because there are children in the room. Nobody believes it, but everyone just kinda gets through it for the sake of the kids.

The Raptors aren't gonna win too many games this year, but Gradey is going to be a very productive player in the league for a long time. Still think his ceiling is Klay Thompson if things break right for him. Whether he develops his defense will determine whether he can reach that ceiling.

Ochai looks like a rotation player in the league too, which is more than I had expected out of him.

I think Gradey is Kyle Korver, which is a great career.

Gradey is showing some flashes this season of being more than that, but I too have long thought that Korver is a very good comp for him.

If Ochai could improve his shooting to that extent, he'd be Danny Green in like every respect.
