Bob Newhart-gone.. ugh
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Bob Newhart has passed away at age 94. His wit and deadpan delivery and stammering style made him a must-watch for generations. One of the best |
94...whoa
Life well lived. One of the best RIP.
Well damn. He was one funny dude. RIP
What an icon. I hadn't seen him in anything since "Elf".
That's a big loss for humanity. I really enjoyed his humor.
I was about to comment that he seemed old when I first saw The Bob Newhart Show as a kid. But the numbers work out. He would have been in his forties when I was a 12 year-old kid, and when I was 12 a guy in his forties was old. |
I did see him a few years ago.
Some of the material was dated, but damn he was funny |
Love that dude.
When I was a kid I had a thing for his actress wife in the Bob Newhart Show-Suzanne Pleshette. Man I thought she was foxy. RIP Bob |
I'd say 94 is a pretty fkg good run. RIP, comedy legend.

94... What a life! RIP and Godspeed Bob!
Son of a bitch. A very funny, funny man.
RIP By the way, the final episode of Newhart was the best final episode of any series ever. |
Someone play taps for MAJ. Major M. Major, please.
Damn, this has been a rough week for celebrities.
Dick Van Dyke is still cookin'
This one hurts despite his advanced age. What a legend. And still so sharp and funny so late in life.
Damn. He had a good run, though. RIP and thanks for the many laughs.
Wow. Suzanne Phleshette died 16 years ago and Mary Frann died 26 years ago.
Love the SNL sketch where Farley and Chris Elliot get drunk playing hi Bob in front of Newhart.
One of my favorites RIP Bob!!
they are getting now getting plastered in heaven...

RIP. He was really good.

If you can find his Sir Walter Raleigh bit, it is hilarious.
Professor Proton on the Big Bang Theory...
I loved the Vermont show and how at the end they called back to the first show.

The ending to the show 'Newhart' has to be the best Sitcom ending in American TV history. From standup to shows, Newhart was a class act.
I would say that this would be extremely effective in a lot of therapy situations: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/jvujypVVBAY?si=Vz0511LV1t8Upiwt" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> RIP to one of the greats. |
His timing was superb. He could fill out a 'pregnant pause' with glances and mis-starts, building tension while the audience starts mentally filling in the reply, so when he actually gives the reply the audience gets an endorphin release.
Did somebody check to make sure he wasn't buried alive in a box?
Guess we will start seeing reruns soon. I'll be sure to time in
RIP Bob.
Damn! Thanks for all the laughs. RIP
Very unique sense of humor. An original OG.
God speed Mr Newhart. |
RIP Bob You were one of the best comedians of all time...
One of my favorites. Loved his stand-up and his shows.
Him and Don Rickles together were hilarious. |
RIP Bob you were great. Man, everyone is keeling over this year. :(
Sad, he and Mary Frann were awesome and Darrel and Darrel epic. RIP funny man
Tough week to be a celeb. RIP
Damn, loved Bob Newhart!
RIP to a comedy icon. Bob was also responsible for many a hangover from playing the "Hi Bob" game as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hi,_Bob
I used to watch the Newhart show with my father, I did not get his jokes until I got older, I do not care much for Newhart but he was a great actor and person, rest in peace Mr. Newhart
94…. What a run. Thank you Bob for all the laughs throughout the years. It’s already been stated here and elsewhere what a tremendous wit and gift for timing this guy had in the comedy game.
Dude was best buds with Don Rickles, and while the two couldn’t have been more different in style, the two performed together for years back in the day, and their stuff is incredible. To be a fly on the wall with those two… And has been said here already, the final episode, or more precisely, the final sequence from his 80’s/90’s sitcom Newhart is positively the gold standard on how to pull off a series finale. It won’t be topped. Absolute legend. RIP. |

You have to understand both shows to get this

He was magnificent in The Rescuers movies.
I hope Suzanne Pleshette greeted him into the afterlife with "Hi Bob!"
