Future Veach/Spags All-Pro!!!
|
Had shoulder season ending injury last year in October
|
Veach going to Veach.
|
Know nothing about him...but Veach knows late round defensive backs, so I will go out on a limb and say this kid has plenty of potential.
|
Let’s discuss.
Should we pay him or trade? Would you accept a second round pick? |
Not sure DB was a need but I will trust Veach.
|
LaJarius HaDEn!
|
Finally, a corner.
|
Looks like he'll win an insane amount of Superbowls with the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes
|
If there’s one thing we know about Brett Veach & Spags, they do an incredible job with the secondary choices. Guessing this kid turns out pretty good!

Already 23 so a little older for a project and he appears to be one. But really, it's all lotto tickets and probably single contract players from here out.
|
Travis Kelce has never seen this guy in his ****ing life
|
The next Dale Carter or Julian Battle
|
This Cornerback lived close to you?
|
Missed 16 games the last two years. This is a day 2 talent had he been able to stay healthy, excellent cover corner. Player only 5 games last year due to a shoulder injury that required surgery.
Kid is brittle but he's got the ability. I'll take that in the sixth round. |

It’s just so funny that we can take two DBs in these later rounds and basically be guaranteed at least one of them (and probably both) are going to be, at the very least, really good players. There isn’t another team in this league that can say that.
|
Let's be honest, he's going to be good isn't he?
|
Matt Miller said he had him as his 126th rated player. Only fell because of injuries.
|
I’ve heard he has a 13 inch dong from Billay.
|
It’s a highlight reel, but he looks real good against good teams. A ball hawk too!!

I don't believe there's a deeper secondary in the league rn. Veach is running a DB factory.
And that Hicks kid is going to replace Justin Reid next year. Book it. |

Another boundary corner with size and athleticism. Think you’re gonna see Nazeeh and Conner share slot responsibilities with McDuffie this year.
|
special teams
|
And score another for Veach on DBs, injured last year the only reason he's there in the sixth.

Don't mind drafting a DB at all. We draft one pretty much year it seems like and there hasn't been a single one that is not at least good.
|
Pretty good player to take a flier on if he truly is 3rd round talent.
|
I like how we just don’t even argue or evaluate any late round DBs anymore
|
But ya, keep our DB factory going! It's crazy how good it has been drafting DB's

Definitely a Spags CB. Can get physical and mix it up at the line. I like it a lot if his shoulder is 100%.

That's amazing. If he's at ALL like LJ play wise, what a steal.

I think they were saying his long speed wasn't as good as LJ. |

With DBs you draft a dozen of them to get the few you like
Doesn't matter if you like the dB room or not. Always good to stockpile some options |
This guy allowed a passer rating of 7.0 in 2023.
You read that right. ****ing 7. |

Wow. This kid's highlights look really good. He has really good vision and hand eye coordination. Ideal size. Looks to be a smart player. Didn't know anything about him before, but I'm really impressed now. Good stuff..
|
Nice pick!
|
With any luck he's the defensive McKinnon
Shows up with an injury history, but shakes it and goes on to shine... the stats and size alone make this yet another brilliant late round choice from Veach |

Starting to sound like Veach found another late round diamond who slid due to injury... gonna be a fun camp with all these new faces

Hadden and Hicks are both incredible talents. Going to be fun to watch them grow.

I wonder what happened with him. Maybe the shoulder is still a mess and he couldn't practice like he wanted to?
I never heard one media person mention anything positive about him on the field during training camp other than there was a long line of guys in front of him. |
I was told by old men in cargo shorts and goatees that Kamal Hadden was the real deal at training camp. Wonder what went wrong

Not sure I'm getting this troll shit about people thinking Hadden was amazeballs.
People were optimistic about the pick because it's Veach and Hadden is a late round DB. So people dug around and found favorable tweets from randos on the internet. I don't know anybody who was specifically rooting for this guy over the other DBs or thought he had more to offer than anybody else. People just wanted the best players on the team, and if that included Hadden, cool. If not, then whatevs... hope the players they chose instead are really good. Really weird reaction to have. |

His measurables made us think we found another Sneed.
And then nobody else ever mentioned him again |

Never understood the pick. The guy is overrated. He was never really good at Tennessee.

Don't expect too much from them and you might not be let down. There's just no reason to put a bar in place for these guys. 6th and 7th rounders are marginally more likely to make a team and make an impact than UDFAs (and even that is probably signal noise; a product of the opportunity they got by virtue of being a draft pick rather than any true distinction in talent from most UDFAs). Those last couple rounds are almost completely disposable. It's strange to me that anyone bothers calling this a 'miss' - it was barely even a shot. It was one of those throwaway heaves that players make from 3/4 court at the end of a game with a 13 point margin. |
Quote:
Roster is pretty damn well stacked IMO. They like the top 4 guys at corner in McDuffie, Williams, Watson and Johnson but that last spot was up or grabs with other draft picks like Nic Jones. This isn’t 2022 where we needed a bunch of picks to take spots. I think only 2-3 spots were really in play at the beginning of camp, and guys like Steele, Driskell and Roland-Wallace took advantage. Even with Hadden looking like a bust and Nourzad and Hanson needing plenty of work, the draft class and haul overall looks really good, especially compared to last year. |
Quote:
Exactly. Teams with terrible GMs would kill to have half the success of Veach from rounds 4-7 |
Remember that hitting on a third of your picks (hitting being a player that is a starter, spot starter, rotational player, or backup) is an excellent draft. Of course rounds come in to play. Getting a backup in the 1st round is not as good as a starter but in later rounds you are looking at overlooked players or are drafting on pure potential.
|
On the off season hard knocks the giants had him tagged with what most were assuming as character red flags fwiw. I haven’t watched much past the starters reps this preseason. So who knows

Having someone be good that you draft in the 6th round is mainly just luck...because if the guy was so good you would have drafted him in the 5th...and so would everyone else.
