Who are we hoping the Chargers take at 5 (assuming they stay there)?
I really don't want them to get Harrison Jr. or Nabers.
Odunze, Alt, and Bowers would all still suck, but not as bad. I'm hoping they reach for a CB. |
They're going to take Nabers. They'd be completely insane not to.
Our best hope is, I guess, that someone trades into 3 to take Harrison and the Cardinals take Nabers at 4. At that point I guess the Chargers would trade down to put a QB needy team at 5 for Daniels. But I feel like there's about a 0% chance that Nabers isn't the guy at that pick. And with an aging receiving corps and a strong, young LT, there's literally nothing else that makes any sense for them to do. |
Well they hired a guy from the Ravens so they'll likely take whoever the best player is...
And it may be Nabers because I could see a world where Allen and Williams are both gone. |
Yep it'll be Nabers or Bowers. In my wildest fantasies they go mad and take an OL guy or DT. But nah, it's Nabers
|
I think they take an Alpha WR if one is sitting there for them.
|
It’s Jim Harbaugh so it’s probably gonna be Alt/Fashanu or whoever the best pass rusher is.

He was big though. |
If I was Harbaugh I’d take Verse. That defense was terrible up front minus Mack. Bosa is also a broke dick.
Wanna have any shot of beating us? Only thing that has worked for sure is an elite pass rush with your front 4. Kid had 9 sack seasons in back-to-back years at FSU. He’s gonna be elite

Fastest 40 by anyone at Combine with 33+ arm length and 30+ Bench reps (last 10 years)

1. Reporter thought seems to be it will be Alt and he’ll play RT.
Seems in line with how Harbaugh rolls. |

But that just doesn't feel like the first draft pick of the Harbaugh era. Maybe it's jsut wishful thinking in disguise, but my gut says Alt. |

Please please please have this khaki'd douche expose himself a month into the job. |

It should be Nabers or Harrison depending on what happens in front of them. I just feel like they'll trade out though to gain more capital and address the defense (they pretty much need a guy at every level) and O-line.
|
Gonna trade Herbert and draft McCarthy.
|
With Harbaugh as coach and Roman as OC, they will be a run-first offense. Even if they got Nabers, I'm not sure he'd be a gamebreaker in that system.
It feels like an offensive linemen to me. Could be Bowers, though. |
Everything I’ve seen from guys who cover the team screams OT to me. It’s going to be Alt or Fashanu.
Though it would be hilarious and awesome to see them go totally rogue and trade Herbert. Looking at his deal, I think they could trade him for about a $10M cap hit. It seems like they could for sure get a top 3 pick in this draft for him, and then quite a bit more. Would seem like a Harbaugh thing to do. |

And i don't agree they'll go WR. They still have Allen and just invested a 1st in a WR. They need defensive help more than they need a 3rd pass catcher.
And lets not forget who their HC is. Im betting they go some type of DL. |
OL or DL.
|
Who is the best running QB who can only read one side of the field and has limited accuracy?
That is who they will draft. |
Quote:
I just don't see it being a receiver considering how much money they are dumping into the position with Allen, Williams, and Johnston. If they're smart they'll go best pass rusher. But it's Harbaugh, so they'll go best road grater/play action tackle they can find. |
Well they are gonna be so mad when NE takes Alt with the 3rd pick.

Well this would be less than ideal |

The Cardinals already have a shit ton of picks. They traded down last year, missing out on elite talent, and the Texans pick ended up being a late 1st. The Chargers trading back from 5 is much more likely IMO. |

Chargers gotta Charger. |
They can’t really blow it up with Herbert going off rookie deal. What if they went QB so Harbaugh could get his own QB?
They could probably get hella picks from Herbert as well? |
What? They are going to take Malik Nabers. They have no choice.
|
I'm not the Chargers GM but...
I got some cap space now so I'd sign WR Donovan Peoples-Jones. He knows my system from his days at Michigan. I'm gonna sign K.J. Osborn to be my slot. That's going to eat half my cap but WR is not longer a major draft need. Then I'd add another RB aside from Gus Edwards. Gimme D'Onte Foreman. He can start, he's a big pounder. Now I have a two-headed monster to smash people with. I would trade back to 12 with Minnesota and let them get the last Round 1-worthy QB. Grab a RT in front of the Raiders to fix the O-Line issues. Second round I probably have two picks now instead of 1 so I'm going CB early and LB later. Probably none of this happens and they go with Nabers, but I don't think it's their best foot forward. |
Imagine if they go like JC Latham to lock down the right tackle spot though. Wouldn't be that surprising given how Harbaugh likes to build, coach, and scheme.
|
Quote:
When you look at him getting rid of the WRs, I think you're going to see him bring in some smaller, faster guys to replace them. He'll have bigger, linear deep threats but his focal WRs are going to be just like Roman Wilson. His running backs will be good at stretching the play out and cutting it north/south on a dime. I suggested Dont'a Foreman because he ran that style in Carolina a lot. Anyhow all that to just go back to JC Latham... So, I don't know that he fits Harbaugh's offense "that well," but I also don't think he doesn't fit entirely. One thing you read in his scouting report is "he doesn't have the foot speed to reach the backside block" and I think that is a legit concern but it's really more just one specific aspect when you're looking at that. It means he doesn't have the footspeed as the "covered backside" tackle to reach his block assignment. That means he's going to struggle to reach a DT playing a true 3 technique when the play is going away from him. That "can" be a problem because the inside zone relies a lot on running backs hitting cutback lanes. He probably won't struggle as much when that DT is aligned in a 4i. So we're looking at one specific aspect of Latham's game that doesn't fit "perfectly." Now if you run more of a mixed bag of power gap and inside zone like the Eagles do, then it becomes even less of a problem. Now, with Latham, maybe you can look at this dude and see how good he is and have him drop a little bit of weight to increase his footspeed on those blocks. I don't know if there is necessarily a "better" option at RT in this draft. I think Fuaga is worse and Guyton doesn't run block well enough. So... there's that. And even with all that, so long as your backside OG is uncovered (he should be), he's going to strong arm that 3Ts inside shoulder to slow his roll before moving up to the 2nd level... There's not that much I don't like about Latham at RT, honestly. |
Hoping they trade that pick to the Vikings for their 2 firsts and next years so they can get JJ McCarthy!
|
We want them to draft JJ McCarthy. Max drama!
|
Hopefully Ryan Leaf 2.0.
|
Not even Harbaugh is dumb enough to move away from Herbert. Herbert is anything but the problem.

I think it means more that they'll trade down from 5 and take one of the highly rated RTs.
|
Quote:
It also fits with Harbaugh constantly pumping up J.J. McCarthy. A trade-down from 5 is a lot more lucrative if a team is coming up to get a perceived "franchise QB." |
Quote:

100% they would trade with Minnesota or another team. If they get two first round picks, then they can draft a tackle high and grab a WR towards the end of the first round.

Yes, everybody keeps pointing to the Cardinals at 4, but they already have a shit ton of picks. It's the Chargers at 5. That's the spot to trade up and take QB4.

Sean Payton knows he’s ****ed. The Cardinals aren’t trading back with MHJ on the board and there’s no way in hell Harbaugh is trading with Sean to take his college QB to be in his division. The Broncos are ****ed and I love it. Only chance they have is if NE traded back with Minnesota bc they don’t want a QB leaving one of the four to drop. I honestly can’t see that happening. |
I think they're pretty confident they will get WR Harrison Jr.

Cardinals really thinking this or is this BS? Sean Payton mentioned their GM being in a great position. Could not be any more obvious that Denver is trying to make a trade with them

At some point, you have to take a blue chipper. Maybe they're dumb enough to trade back again, but it would be a terrible move. |
The Cardinals have ZERO reason to trade back.
|
Quote:
What good is it to keep trading back and not getting elite talent? |
Quote:
That 2025 1st will most likely be top 5 like their current pick. Tough choice IMO |
Quote:
Their WR situation is terrible. Again, you can't just keep trading back. You have to pick a blue chipper when you have the opportunity eventually. |
Harbaugh has been putting too much out there in trading down to take a player at 5. Selling McCarthy or the best WR in the draft should Arizona trade their pick so someone can take McCarthy and then he would have the best WR fall in his lap to trade, but I have to think their first move by a long shot is trade. Best WR or Joe Alt is just the bonus if they can't get suitable compensation, but they're in one of the best spots in this draft no doubt about it unfortunately. I'm glad the Broncos and the Raiders ****ed themselves by trying to keep up with Patrick Mahomes last season, but the Chargers just went fetal position for a better draft pick in a Brandon Staley-less future, they played it right.
|
If Harbaugh thinks McCarthy is the best QB he's ever seen and coached, he would be foolish not to trade Herbert to Chicago or Washington and then draft McCarthy. He'd have the best QB ever (in his eyes) and the #5 pick for a LOT to protect the greatest QB ever.
