The revamp of the front office continues. Two good pickups with Brian Bridges and now Johnny DiPuglia.

DiPuglia signed Hanley Ramirez and was in charge of the Nats international scouting when they added Soto. Seems like he’s a great add. |
He signed Ramirez as a 16 year old for 20k so he can work within our budget
J/k this seems like a positive move |

This team isn’t close to .500 this year.

I’m just hoping they’re competent enough to be watchable.

Big daddy chiefs have to step in for support because the royals sure as shit can’t get it on their own

Maybe if they hold on a bit longer they can get another All-Star game attached to the stadium project.

The Royals/Chiefs proposal seems about as fair as one of these can get for John Q Public.
Extend an existing sales tax. Teams take on fees the county has been covering. They stay in the tax district. $1 billion ballpark district financed by team. And shit, if the Chiefs upgrade things at the current site, it could revitalize that area a bit. |
How in tf is Frank White STILL in some kind of position to dictate what is or isn't happening in Jackson County? How is he not facing charges over the property tax situations? Good lord.
(I'm not derailing the thread, I just had to get that off my chest) |
^^^with that being said, I was getting ready to ask “ but how does frank white feel about this”.
Thanks Pablo!! Baaaaw Gaaawd!! lol. You guys posted faster that I could say my piece. Sorry for those misplaced arrows. |

A 50 year tax is incredibly stupid especially when you consider that neither stadium will be there 5 decades from now. That area will never be spruced up |

This division is winnable. It really could be like the Twins in ‘87. 82-85 wins likely wins this division, and after that, all bets are off.
This is clearly what the Royals are banking on. But…. Free agency rarely works. Plus, we’re the Royals. When the hell does anything work out for us? Offensively, I think this team could be very sneaky good. BWJ is an all-star potential MVP player. Maikel Garcia could be underrated. A healthy Vinnie could go full-on Sweeney aka ‘99, or turn into Thome, either way, I’m happy. Can Salvy trim some weight and hit 30 homers? I hope so, and I think he can. After those four guys, it’s Waters, Isbel, Melendez, Velazquez, Massey and the big Henfroe acquisition. There’s a lot to like there, and I don’t think there’s a slot for anyone until they slot themselves in with performance. Ragans was maybe the best pitcher in baseball for two+ plus months last year. Can he perform at even close to that level for a full season? He looks like the real deal, barring injury, he is another potential all-star. But then we have Wacha, Lugo, Singer, Lynch, Lyles…. Can’t have enough pitching. I want the Royals to bring Greinke back. He can get his 3000th K in a Royals uniform, and if he is used correctly, he could be our pocket ace. Our bullpen still stinks. Can we sign Chapman again? Moves have been made, but again, there’s never enough pitching. If we can get out of April and May not being under 10 games, this team could be interesting to watch. But I think they really need more help in pitching. I tried to write a similar thing, but it was deleted because the site timed me out. Pitchers/catchers report in a few weeks! |

There's a thought process in baseball scouting that shortstops are the best athletes and are on the top of the defensive spectrum. It's easy to move a shortstop to another position with ease. It's not often you see an organization sign three amateur first basemen for instance because their value would be entirely in their bat. |
Frank White is the man

Matt Chapman to the Royals?

Can we please sign Zack Greinke? Goddammit, I need to see this man get 3000 K’s in a Royals uniform!
|
I find it hard to believe they'd go for someone like Chapman but the infield defense would be loaded. Seems like he'd be a bat pretty similar to Renfroe though. Urshela seems more like a Royals move.
|
Chapman would certainly be a move that stresses KC isn’t operating like the old Royals days.
First, he’s going to cost a bunch. Second, his offensive profile is low average, high OBP. That’s very much not a Royals move. I’d love it, though. An IF defense with Chapman, Witt, and Massey would be elite-elite. And they could trade Garcia at that point and get a decent return. |
Frank White is such a slimy mother****er. I'm starting to think he's slimier than Sherman. Dude has no reason to veto this. Let the God damn voters vote for what they want. Slimy shit.

Royals get Chapman, they probably become the favorites in the AL Central
