Arrowhead Crowd

It appears that capitalism has officially ruined the mystique of Arrowhead. Last night was by far one of the worst crowds I’ve ever seen at Arrowhead. I was told by Chiefs fans to sit down while we were on defense. So many people have treated their season ticket packages like they’re playing a ****ing stock market and the atmosphere is disappearing. The place should have been going absolutely insane last night from the banner ceremony. Instead we had whole sections sitting on defense and an entire crowd of Chiefs fans that left in droves with 2 minutes left with all 3 timeouts to use. The whole experience was just depressing. Hopefully it was just a bunch of Chiefs fans trying to recoup their money and overlooked a good Lions team, but something tells me this is just the way things are going to be now unfortunately.

Spott 09-08-2023 05:40 AM

Never, ever sit down on defense. **** anyone that says otherwise.

I was a bit surprised at how many Lions fans were at the game. Lot of blue in the stands.

Yeah, a bit surprising, but if I had season tickets I'd be really tempted to sell high to a fanbase that's been so deprived of winning, especially early in the season (of course, none of us expected the Chiefs to play that poorly).

There were a couple times in the 2nd half that I thought it sounded pretty damn loud from my couch.

People have been telling other people to sit down for years though.... I remember being told to sit down during a SNF game against John Kitna's Seahawks in ~2000-ish.

LoneWolf 09-08-2023 06:37 AM

I hope you told the dumbasses that were asking you to sit down while KC was on defense to go **** themselves.

That's a shame.

Rodney Harrison said he didn't feel the energy @ Arrowhead.

Hopefully they got in line all the way to Detroit. They only pay for their kids to participate in sports.

Zap Rowsdower 09-08-2023 07:31 AM

I do feel like Arrowhead has become a bucket list type of place the last few years and so we are seeing more visiting fans at games. Which sucks because it drives up ticket prices.

AdolfOliverBush 09-08-2023 07:36 AM

The crowd sounded loud as **** on TV, like it always does.

Maybe it did quiet down a little as the shit show went on, I guess you'd have to be there to know.

HC_Chief 09-08-2023 07:38 AM

Perhaps we need a video displayed before the game, instructing the crowd as to how to cheer. You know, like MU did :D

(tbf KU and KSU had their own awful cringey vids; the MU one is just the most recent... and awful)

Dartgod 09-08-2023 07:40 AM

I disagree. It was loud as **** out there last night. Plenty of energy in the stands.

And props to the Lions fans in attendance. There were a lot of them and they were loud.

the only one for KU I remember is when I was a student they had to tell the student section to stop yelling "rip their ****ing heads off" after every kickoff

no one in the student section stopped of course

I think any loud and rowdy Chiefs season ticket holders who sell their tickets to sites that will re-sell to opposing fans should be put in JAIL!!!!!!

wazu 09-08-2023 08:47 AM

I have been a season ticket holder for 25 years. My 4 seats to this game sold for over $3K, and I'm not wealthy enough that the money doesn't matter.

I still go to the playoff games. Those are actually less expensive than regular season games, by a fair amount. People don't like the cold, I guess. But it is still two games so for me it's a decent chunk of money to take my family.

Also FYI I've never had anybody yell at me to sit down, offense or defense. It would be like shouting at the rain because even if I wanted to sit there are always people in front of me standing.

That’s what was so disappointing about the section I ended up in. There were only about 4-5 other people standing in my immediate area. It just felt so weird. There were about 5 families that brought their preschool aged children as well. I’d never seen that many kids at Arrowhead before. Maybe it was just isolated to that section 321 I was in, but it was a very disappointing section last night for sure.

redfan 09-08-2023 09:18 AM

Caused a false start, and made the Lions use timeouts.

NAh, I go to every game, and their light blue colors stand out more. I'm guessing there were about 5000 Lions fans, pretty normal for a traveling team to Arrowhead. The worst was the Matt Moore game vs. the Vikings. There were probably 30,000 Vikings fans, with Mahomes and 4 other starters out and folks selling their tickets. We beat them with a guy coaching HS football the week before. That was pleasant.

Seanathon 09-08-2023 09:52 AM

I sat up high below the scoreboard row 11 and I swear I think it was the best view I've had. I've always bought lower level but they were just too expensive this time. Glad I was up high. I thought the stadium was extremely loud last night and most of the people from both teams that showed up were actually pretty easy to deal with. Yeah, everything is highlighted by a bad loss, but there was a lot of blue. The worst was 2013 against Denver, tons of ugly jerseys and cheering.

Dunerdr 09-08-2023 01:10 PM

From my experience season ticket holders are less rowdy usually than the people they sell too. Usually those people are only going to see one game a year and want to make the most of it.

But for the home opener with the prices what they were your probably looking more at a middle age crowd whos just not going to be as rowdy as the college kids willing to tough out a december game against the fade.

Hammock Parties 09-08-2023 01:12 PM

I was in 321 and it felt lit to me.

First time I've sat in row 3 of the upper deck and I have to say it's one of my favorite views. We had a great view of Mahomes first two TD passes.

dlphg9 09-08-2023 01:29 PM

Sounded loud as **** until the game got boring as ****.

Hey the Soviet hockey team was pretty good back in the day!

I also don't know what people expect, with the costs of everything not everyone has several grand to drop on season tickets or **** the several hundred for 1 game.
