Right on.

Ever since I moved back home, it's always kind of bothered me there was nothing honoring the Chiefs or the SBIV Champions. Stram's squad won 3 AFL Championships and a SB . A lot of those players never left KC. We stood on their shoulders for 50 years waiting for the current success. What better time and way than to involve the past/current Champions?

I have the sketch. I have the wall. i have the dream.

I'm just hoping enough Chiefs fans feel the same way.

So, how big is this wall? You have a sketch, does it have individual players, coaches, etc?

I'm intrigued.

30ft tall.

Lamar, Hank, Andy and players from both squads over a huge Chiefs logo with Super Bowl Champions underneath

Not the first or last time I’m gonna say something combative and retrospectively slightly dumb. But the OP was way light on details.

I vaguely recall Stevie being an artist. His style isn’t my jam but sounds like a worthy project.

I would help because there's no questioning Stevies talent, and it's a big deal for a city. Denver is covered in them.

For reference $10k for a 20x20 mural here is normal. The project deserves help.

I'll certainly throw up a couple bucks lieu of the free room & board you and your lovely family provided me on my travels with hopes of seeing it in person on my next Chiefs game.

Already up to $720, but it has a long way to go. Come on Planet, let's get this one going.
I do have one little suggestion....Put the Superbowl Champion Roman Numerals sporadically on the mural, so that future numerals can be added over the image. IV, LIV, LVII... We've got more coming.
I can't wait to see it completed, Stevie!

Yup, the AFL championships, too. Stram was considered one of the best coaches of all time, because he won it all without an OC, DC or ST coach.

It would be cool if they can be honored, the mural would last for years.

Is there a plan for the funds if the goal isn't met? I'd personally be more comfortable with the Kickstarter model, but I'm open to donating if there's an alternative use planned.

Thanks & thanks for asking.

...if the goal isn't totally met....say only 10k is raised, I will attempt to paint the mural at 15ft x 15ft. I think any smaller wouldn't be as impactful.

Anything under that, I will most likely kill the project and all money will be returned, or possibly paint a big mural of a player, but only if the people who donated approve.

Go Fund me hasn't even asked for any banking info at this point.

I feel like this is doable...are there 2000 Chiefs fans willing to donate $10? Or a thousand willing to donate $20? Or 200 willing to donate $100?

I like to think there are, but I guess we'll see.

A Lenny mural would be nice if it came down to it, but I bet you get enough to do the whole thing.

Stevie,

A question, simply because I don't understand how much time/effort something like this costs.

We have a donation goal of $22k. How much of that goes into supplies, etc - and how much is " labor, for lack of a better word?

How much time do you envision completing something like this will take?

2k will go to the lift and supplies.
If Im lucky and put in long days, a month
Most likely more.

The goal is to have it finished by the home opener.

After Go fund me fees and expenses, I will net around 18, which puts the cost of mural at 20sq ft, which is actually low, considering it's lettering, a logo and multiple portraits.

It's hard to imagine the scope and scale.

For instance, Lamar will be around 8ft tall and the length of the logo will be around 12-13 ft long.

Hope this helps.

It's not a crime for an artist to pitch an idea they'll make some money on. No one in their right mind would 1) expect someone to do this for free or 2) assume that this would cost $20k in materials.

Pitch in if it's worth it to you. Don't if you don't. That's about all there is to it.

Why are you such a dick? I don't give a shit about this mural but if you don't want to donate, don't and shut the **** up. You pay an artist for their time and skill. He's not flipping burgers for a month and then asking for 18k.
