What went wrong against the Broncos?
 

From 27-0, to.... that.

In a few weeks, nobody is really going to care what the game looked like, only that we got the W.

But for tonight, and for the next few days, I want to know what changed between 27-0 and the end.

I can't think of two back to back games as frustrating as these past two.

Defense gave up easy TD's and let the donkeys back in the game.

Mahomes had 3 picks.....but there was no reason for the defense to not hold the donkeys to at least a FG on those drives--at least a couple of times.

Defense did come through after Pat's 3rd INT--got the ball back and allowed the Offense to close it out and not give the donkeys another chance.

Defense is not getting better as the year goes along.....they shit the bed too often on drives.

Same problems as ever. Pass rush barely there, poor tackling on defense. Poor tackle play on offense. Predicable play calling in key situations. Combine it with a once every few years poor game from Mahomes and you have… a win.

We are great coming back from a large deficit but struggle keeping a big lead. Focus issues.

Chiefs got caught playing with their food. The donks have been a punchline but they have some talent on that team. Russell Wilson could’ve temporarily reverted back to his old self and made some plays.

We let one mistake turn the tide of a game that should have been a blood-letting. It was shocking that we couldn’t snap out of it in the first half. The D couldn’t make a stop and we couldn’t protect the ball.

I’m super happy for the win, but that was about unsatisfying a win as you can get. 3 INT’s? That’s really really bad.

Momentum is a real thing.

We've seen the Chiefs use it to their advantage on many come-back performances all the way to a Super Bowl ring, and we've seen it hurt them from epic first halves of football, to some of the quality of football you would find on a high school field.

That second INT was a huge momentum killer, and Pat doesn't have the luxury of an amazing defense to get away with it.

Three picks. Mahomes was kinda ASS today, even though he was 300+. We should have been cruising. When we were up 27-0, they should have been running the ball a ton more and not passing. BUT...nobody expects Mahomes to shit the bed that bad.

God that was frustrating. But we know that this team can and does do better. This was not a big game, so I think the Chiefs were sleeping, especially after that big lead.

Dungver always plays us tough. They have an unbelievable advantage with that Mild Sigh air. Defense was gassed after going full blast the first 25 minutes. Patrick added 2 more amazing plays to his highlight reel. A win is win. Lots of stuff to clean up too. Trust, those Dungkeys were DESPERATE to stop the streak. But wasn’t enough. 14 in a mother ****ing row!!!

On another note...is there another team in NFL history that can look so unstoppable 1 half and then basically look like the 22 Broncos in the other?

One of the continuing issues is Andy making it way too complicated on 3rd and 1 plays.

Get to the line quickly and run Pacheco to get the first down.

It's ok to say Mahomes seemed to lose his focus once we got up 27-0 and was not extremely accurate today and made some poor throws/decisions, it's also Ok to realize that his great plays were able to overcome these mistakes. But, if he is sharp and making better decisions, this would have been a rout.

Turnovers and short fields are a killer, even when facing a bad offense.

And as many times as I read "run the ball more" and roll my eyes, when you're up 27-0 AND you're forcing throws, you're asking for trouble. And just for the sake of Mahomes' health, too, as he might have been killed on that last TD throw.

The NFL (and pro sports in general) are weird.... you can be THAT much better than another team, to be up 27-0 in the first half, yet it's still a pretty fine line of execution, focus, intensity, etc; and you throw a couple picks, get soft on defense, and let that dumpster fire of a team back into it.

We hold Mahomes and the offense to a ridicoulously high standard, but give excuse after excuse for the defense.

If Mahomes had only "shit" games for the Broncos....they would be 12-1 right now.

Well, the 27-0 was a little misleading. We got a couple of easy scores on the flip pass to McKinnon and the Gay INT.

Denver has a good defense. They had the right schemes in the secondary to jump the 10 yard passes. Andy needed to mix in some different passing concepts once he saw they were going to emphasize stopping those.

The defense did not play as bad as it appeared. The Chiefs forced 7 punts, had 6 sacks, and forced 2 interceptions. The Broncos running game was essentially Wilson's scrambles. Without Wilson, they rushed for 49 yards at an average of 3.3 yards per carry. The Broncos were fortunate to string their good plays together when they counted, to score 28 points.

Just one of those games, and I'm pleased with the Chiefs' win.

Pretty sure he's talking about when we didn't blitz. When we didn't blitz we couldn't get any pressure. When we did, we either got the sack or allowed a first down.

Pat was off tonight in some ways, but that second pick was lucky garbage... take that one away and things look much better
