The guy just leaves me speechless at times. He's not human....

Enjoy it guys. We are about 1/3 the way through the journey.

Don’t ever take him for granted.

jd1020 10-03-2022 09:45 AM

Appears to me he looked directly at him and tossed it up.

Very true.

rabblerouser 10-03-2022 10:11 AM

I love him.

In a non-homosexual way.

(I think the kids say "no homo, no cap"...which translated to English, means "I'm not gay, and I know it seems I am, so I'm going out of my way to point out how not gay I am in an effort to downplay any homoerotic overtones that may have been construed. And I'm not lying about it, either.")

If Brady can play until he's 45, I don't see why Mahomes doesn't have a solid 15 year career in front of him.

I mean, Brady adapted his game and refined it as he got older. I can definitely see Patrick having similar savvy.

Buehler445 10-03-2022 10:18 AM

Mahomes puts his body in more danger though. Anything is possible and he could very well have an equally long career, but Brady has always been a statue that's relied on just making the right reads and getting the ball out before taking a beating. Mahomes will scramble around and take a hit to make a play where Brady would have just thrown the ball in the ground and gone onto the next.

He really doesn't take the terrible hits - the one time he was really hurt was the freak thing with his knee. The other was when he got choked out in the Browns game. He slides away from contact, like how Marcus Allen used to take a hit, you know? The opposite of Walter Payton (or Jimmy G at Arrowhead), he just shifts away so that the hits are more glancing as opposed to having the impact of a car crash.

Chiefnj2 10-03-2022 10:54 AM

If you watch the Ravens/Bills highlights and the controversial failed Baltimore drive, on third and goal Lamar starts to scramble and has a guy wide open for the jump shot as he begins to run toward the LOS, but he falls on his face and doesn't think of passing.

That's one of the many reasons Mahomes is so much better than Jackson as a QB.

Easily. Nobody has ever played the sport at the level he has before and I don't think anybody being honest with themselves could disagree with that.

This play in particular was absolutely remarkable, not just for the athleticism, skill, and vision it took but also the awareness he had that he was right at the line of scrimmage.

I thought the 3rd down conversion throw to JJSS was going to be the WOW moment of the night. It's probably still top 3, but damn.

Same vision as he showed in the AFCCG against the Titans when he dragged his foot to complete the pass to Kelce.

Injury, age and will to compete all play into that. It's hard to know what any of that looks like at this point.

He has uncanny awareness with the line of scrimmage in these situations. Maybe it’s the alleged photographic memory. He makes a mental note before the play, gotta release the ball before this yard line no matter what. Saw some funny comments from people on YouTube that it seems like Mahomes can see the yardage graphic from the TV broadcast and he knows exactly how far to go before releasing the ball. Lol

Great play by mahomes, no look or not, no doubt.

And not to be the Debbie downer here, but... definitely could have been a flag for illegal man downfield. There was a o lineman at least two yards in the end zone when the ball was thrown.

Too close to call. The buffer for linemen is 1 yard and the LOS was just outside the one.

When his career is up it might not even be a top 25 to 50 of his greatest plays. I guarantee we still haven't seen the best out of #15 just entering his prime years. We are so blessed.

Mahomes is definitely fun to watch.. I have no hate for the guy, he's a hell of a QB.

chiefzilla1501 10-04-2022 06:27 AM

People talk a lot about his baseball skills but this year he’s showing out his basketball skills. He’s become next level at dodging players in the pocket. This was one of his more traditional rollouts. But there were a few throws early in the game where he was zig zagging in the pocket like a point guard trying to dribble by a defender. Maybe I’m just too locked in to watching one player, but it seems like the way he eludes defenders is different from most QBs. Without a doubt there is no qb in history that has been more creative in that small pocket of space between where he moves and how he sets up throwing windows. It’s a very very different game than what we saw him start his career with. Most qbs with athleticism pinball defenders like josh Allen or they escape outside like Russell Wilson.

For every QB not named Mahomes its 0% because they don't even attempt it and simply try to break a tackle and run it in.

So far for Mahomes its 100%.
