Truck Stops/Travel Centers
What chain is your favorite?
|
I took my wife into a Iron Skillet one time. She never realized how lack of hygiene the drivers were. I told her it’s basically camping except your tent is a semi and you have to drive it long distances.

Neat story on Stuckey's. They were once everywhere and then suffered some poor ownership. Hopefully, the revival takes place. |
Anyone make Buc-ees their goto stop when traveling through Texas?
|
Whichever one has refrigerator magnets and Pibb/Pepper. Clean bathrooms are nice, too.

Can the mods edit the poll to add Buc-ees? |
I've never visited a "truck stop" or "travel center."

Questions for which I have never thought about and have no answer to.

Loves, generally speaking the truck stop versions are newer and clean. As a truck driver I appreciated the capitol Loves has put into new locations nationwide.
|
I just stick the Tesla on autopilot and shit out the window so I don’t have to stop
|
And if I’m with the old lady and she won’t let me shit out the window we prefer to stop at Kohl’s
|
Grandparents took me on a car trip to Disneyland when I was 5yo, and Stuckey's was a major player in the experience. The billboards were nearly every mile the entire trip and we had breakfast there most mornings.
Grandparents got a kick out of; I would have hot chocolate with breakfast because they were having coffee, but I was too young for that. And at one of the stops I 'sweet talked' the waitress into putting as much whipped cream on top as there was hot chocolate in the cup. They would tell that story to anyone who would listen for at least a couple years after. . . Good times. But since then, I've never been back to one, and any memory of even passing by one has long passed. |
Who the **** prioritizes truck stops?
Offseason is the worst... |
I have not been to many of these...but I heard that Sapps has bidets in their toilet stalls...and that counts for something.

I'm going to go with Love's, they always seem the cleanest. I travel in my van a lot, almost to the point of 1/2 van life. I am on the road on most weekends traveling as a Mountain Bike instructor.
|
I think the only 1 mentioned in the poll I've ever been to is Love's. Many years ago there was a chain along I-70 called Tommy Oil. Those seemed to be spaced a just the right distance for peeing.
|
Pretty obvious this forum thinks of truck drivers like the rest of America.
Give them more places to park and shower instead of writing tix for parking in a rest area too long and your opinion would change. Without truck drivers, America stops! |
Been to several on the list, but can't say I can think of any differences between them to say any are better or worse.
|
Loves are almost everywhere.
|
My one and only truck stop adventure since getting my drivers license was when I drove from northern VA to Scottsdale, AZ in 2017.
I stopped in Tulsa for 3 days to visit a close friend and their family. I went first to the Flying J. I took a shower and changed after driving 24 hours. It was super clean, cheap to rent, incredibly large and nice service. Once done I went into the drivers lounge, sat in a recliner and took a 2 hour nap. Then I left to visit my friends. I give it an 8 out of 10 |
Other: QuikTrip

Some real redneck shit here. Love it! Which one is the best after a night of hot wings and guineas? CP never change
|
Be advised this is a public poll.

Pilot = Pee Lot. As in truck drivers literally stand on the steps of their rigs and piss after being on the road for 10 hours.
|
Just go man!

Some of the funniest ****in reading is on the bathroom walls in truck stops

This topic happens to be in my wheelhouse. I've told stories here before that I once worked at a Subway, the sandwich place. It was semesters between college.
What I never disclosed about those years is the following: it was at a Pilot. I served those sandwiches up fasst, because it was a well run place that truckers appreciated. Co worker of mine got so amped up he took yellow jackets, a form of truck stop amphetamine. It was lively Pilot over Lowes wtf is a Lowes? |

If you need a ****in hammer, go to Lowes sec |
Since a raiders fan made this I'm going to assume he is asking for which has the best glory holes he can work.

There are some nassssty truckers out there. I mean I always knew it but didn’t witness until I got my CDL . when I drove the max I went without a shower was two days. I made damn sure I got a shower Granted I was usually only out on the road Sunday through Friday afternoon and my length of hail was much shorter as I was running flatbed. Not like I was out on the road for like 14-18 days at a time . Honestly the bigger Pilots had some really nice shower areas /rooms.
But holy shit I saw and smelled several of these nasty truckers when I would submit paperwork via scanning inside the truck stop after fueling. I can’t see how someone would want to be that nasty all the time. |
I voted Loves but it doesn't matter as long as ****er's keep pissing on the floor of and all over the shitter! Just got back from the Florida Panhandle and the wife wanted to go to Elvis' birthplace. There was a nice clean shitter there. Next time I drive that way I'm going to stop there again, buy a deck of Elvis cards and use their shitter again.

Buc-ees for the win. Their brisket sandwiches and beaver nuggets are the things dreams are made of
|
Love's won handily.
Not surprised considering the Midwest fan base. |
We always stop at Flying J in Limon Colorado on our way to the mountains. Always clean when we're there with several food options.
