Chandler Jones to the Raiders

Oh brother!

Rain Man 03-16-2022 12:46 PM

Screw Chandler Jones. He sucks.

Wisconsin_Chief 03-16-2022 12:46 PM

I would have preferred he signed with the Chiefs. This is, like, the exact opposite of that. So I am unpleased.

Maybe, but may I present an alternate graphic:

Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes at QB
Broncos: Not Patrick Mahomes at QB
Chargers: Not Patrick Mahomes at QB
Raiders: Not Patrick Mahomes at QB

Now the chart makes more sense.

The rest of the teams in the West HAVE to do this to try and win. We don't. Obviously, we would like to be better there and I still have confidence that Veach will do something to help there, but we've done okay the last few years WITHOUT elite edge rushers.

This makes me far more concerned about finding a good RT than anything else. Wonder if the Chiefs are in on Billy Turner, he was terrific for the Packers and can literally play any spot on the o-line besides center. He'd be a great addition.

I know I'll get flamed for saying it, but I'd actually be OK with tacking a tackle in round one if the value is there. Pretty clear these teams are coming hard for Patrick.

Bradley Chubb isn't an edge rusher...he's a busted IR player. He comes in two modes...getting off of IR or getting on IR. In Madden he's a NPC.

Trade for Cox

To add:

What were the scores from the Chiefs-Raiders games this year?

41-14 in Vegas, 48-9 in KC.

So if we add Jones to that . . . . . . . . maybe, 34-17 and 35-12? And that's probably a little generous if I'm being honest.

Does make you realise how weak the roster is in certain spots. Obviously the entire DL bar Jones is a hot mess, but we're still very light at CB, could do with bolstering RT, RB, WR - there's a lot to do. At this point every other team in the division looks like they've improved.

LT Orlando Brown Jr.

LG Joe Thuney

C Creed Humphrey

RG Trey Smith

RT Andrew Wiley/ Lucas Niang

Bring them ****ers on. RT we can find another in the Draft, Breen Velch said he was going bolster the offensive and make defensive D line priority in the draft. I love this offensive line he put together. Trey Smith I can't wait to watch him put Kahil Mack on his back.

Just because the other teams in the West are blowing their wad early doesn't mean we have too and really got to watch our spending on old vets that just don't put out for more than a year.

I'm sure Veach knows what their weaknesses are. A shame they couldn't keep Ward unless by some miracle they upgrade that position.

If Wylie comes back they're adequate at RT and above average at RG. And while there's not much projection in Wylie, there's plenty in Smith.

The OL, against all odds, is a MAJOR strength for KC.

Smith struggled at times at RG, but overall was pretty solid. After all, he was a 6th round draft pick starting as a rookie. And he did make the PFWA All-Rookie team along with our center we drafted, Creed Humphrey.

And Wylie at RT was serviceable, but not great. We'll probably upgrade there a little, but our two rookies will be back and looking to build on their impressive rookie seasons.

So no, we're fine.

Smith looks an above average run blocker and OK-ish pass protector. Niang seems the same but a level lower. I'm not sure they are a major strength at this point, both need to develop. Pretty confident in Smith doing so, and perhaps Wylie hits adequate, so it's definitely not a weakness.

If teams are reacting to us using Niang and Wylie at RT by lining up Khalil Mack against them, that's a pretty good response.

What difference does it make so long as Mahomes drives for a touchdown every single time he takes the field?

Even in 2018 that didn't happen always. They were shutout by the Patriots at halftime in the AFC Championship.

Well, I'd rather he go to the Raiders than Bills or Colts. Raiders AREN'T contenders, even with this move.

Who says they are? As long Raiders have Carr, they are going to suck

Carr doesnt suck but he is not much more than mediocre. If he is surrounded by enough talent to carry him, he can find success in a Brad Johnson/Trent Dilfer kind of way.

was reading some analysis that the Raiders were a decent pass rush away from winning their first playoff game in almost 20 years after the loss to the Bengals, and this move proves there was some merit to that thought.

Take away the one big game and Chandler Jones had only 1 more sack than Frank Clark last year.

why are you taking away one big game..those sacks dont count???

..this is why noone likes Chiefs fans..always moving the goalpost to fit your narrative

didnt Chandler have 19 a few years back. .
