Loved this guy in round 5.
He’s a former 5 star. Great measurables. You all will like this pick after you dig in. Trust me. |
Makes sense. This will be the dude CP hates that flashes.

In Veach I trust.
But not the pick I would have made. There is a reason I’m not the GM for a team that has been to back-to-back Super Bowls though. Do like his upside and measurables. |
Florida state sucks at developing guys so he’ll probably be good.
|
Very much a Kpass esque upside pick.
|
Whoa, he’s a big kid. Highlights are impressive.

Joshua Kaindoh
POSITIVES—Long, at nearly 6'6" with a 6'9 7/8" wingspan which is one reason he was a blue chip recruit as a prep. —Very strong hands inside, which gives him a path to win in the NFL, despite his lack of production. —Has better burst and quickness than one would assume of someone with his frame. —He’s a secure tackler in the backfield, finishing pressures in the pass and run game that he started. —Has untapped potential, as it does not seem that his body is fully developed because of missed time on the field. —Understands how to influence the quarterback’s throwing lane. NEGATIVES —Despite being bursty, he’s not bendy. —Potentially in between positions right now in terms of his gameday playing weight. Videos you might like —Can slow-play coming off of the ball too much, which is why his get off is inconsistent. —Runs too wide at times when bending the edge, potentially a result of his lack of bend. 2020 STATISTICS 14 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 interception, 1 touchdown, 1 pass deflection NOTES —Consensus blue chip prep out of Maryland who played at IMG Academy in Florida as a senior and participated in the Under Armour All-American Game. —Played in just 31 of Florida State’s potential 47 games over the last four seasons, partially because of injuries. —Only recorded one sack in the last two seasons. OVERALL If you evaluate Joshua Kaindoh on the statsheet, his selection in the NFL draft will not be contextualized. He is a talented, long, strong and bursty defensive end prospect who did not meet his potential at the college level after playing for three coaching staffs and suffering injuries. From a traits perspective, he has upside at a position where pass-rushing upside is almost the only factor, which is why he’ll be given the opportunity to be a better professional player than a college player. Body-type-wise, he may find himself in a position like former Florida State defensive end Mario Edwards, where he will come to a fork in the road and have to make the decision if he is going to grow into being a bigger defensive end who plays a good amount on the interior, or if he is going to live on the edge as a strong edge-setter who can jump inside mid-play based on offensive tackles’ leverage. GRADE: 7.6/10 (3rd Round) OVERALL RANK: 78/300 POSITION RANK: EDGE12 PRO COMPARISON: Mario Edwards |
The only reason this guy wasn’t a day 2 pick is injuries and coaching.
Another high upside pick in the 4th like Sneed last year. |

Honestly doesn't seem like we should be surprised by this one. Big athlete who is raw and could be a good pass rusher if he gets coached up. Right up Spags alley.
|
Hasn't played much but we're rolling the dice on upside here.
|
About the best you can do at Edge this late. He won’t help much this year but could be a steal for years to come. People will get down on his likely 2021 production but this is a pick for the future, he has the best ceiling of any DE left. I would have gone Cade Johnson but I don’t hate this.
|
Man. If you look at his size, he looks the part.
Then you look at his scores. Damn! Yeah, this is a really high upside pick. Like, if you can coach this kid up, he'll be a star If not, well, you know. 4th round pick. Whatever. There were guys I preferred, but I was looking at production and video. But this guy has all the tools. |
It’s PFF....but here you go.

FUTURE HALL OF FAMER YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!!!!!
|
I will say that 10 yard split (1.58) is very good for a Edge though.
|
Didn't have this guy on my radar at all.
Initial thought: Oh, shit, I hope we didn't just take Tanoh again. Secondary thought: Maybe with the pressure that Reed and Jones will bring up the middle, they anticipate QB's having to roll out more often, and this dude's wingspan is like 10 yards thus ruining more plays. |
That 1.58 10 yard split at his size is fantastic.
We got a Sneed type of prospect again in the 4th guys. That doesn’t mean we’ll hit on it, but the upside is there. |
He's a freak athlete.
Let's see what Daly does with him. He's sort of the anti-Mike Danna. :) |
Looks like he's got a CAN DO attitude! Never heard of him but the highlights lol great. I'm sure he'll be ok.
|
So Clark, Taco, Danna and Kandoih
|
Only 10 career starts
Broke dick Zero sacks in 7 games last season Yeah not exactly thrilled with this. Adetokunbo Ogundeji Was a way better option IMO |
He wasn’t the guy I wanted but they took a DE and I can see why they think he has upside. It’s a meh pick to me but I’m still good with it.
|
Trust the process. Late 4th rounders are going to be project players. If he plays above his draft status then KC gets a steal. If not they didn't lose much.

The Danna pick looked as “meh” as it gets and look how that turned out. Kaindoh is a significantly better prospect than Danna. |
KPass Part Deux.
|
Chiefs selected Florida State DE Josh Kaindoh with the No. 144 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Kaindoh (6’6/260) was rated as the third-best defensive end from the 2017 prep cycle according to 247Sports, behind only Chase Young and Jaelan Phillips. Despite playing in 36 games over four years at FSU, Kaindoh had a hard time making a consistent impact on the field as injuries and inconsistent performance led to him starting only 10 of those games. Despite starting eight games in 2020, Kaindoh failed to record a single sack and produced just 3.0 TFL. He boasts incredible bend for his size and an eagle-like wingspan that helps him keep his pads clean. His splash plays are jaw-dropping, but far and few between, and he's admittedly stayed a below-average tackler throughout his career. Kaindoh is a developmental 4-3 DE who could be a serviceable defensive line piece if he can finally realize his physical potential. His stature comps to Josh Sweat. |

But we'll see. It was a position I wanted, and I'll trust Veach, Spags, and Daly know what they're doing. |

Yes, a Kpass pick if Kpass went on the fifth round.
|
As somebody that is very familiar with FSU, you guys just don’t understand how bad that program has become.
They’re full of extremely talented guys that underachieved. Kaindoh is one of many. The Chiefs obvious feel they can do much better as they should. |
If I recall, one of the RGR Football contributors did a draft crush on Kaindoh a few weeks before the draft.
Maybe he can come claim his prize...and elaborate. |
Well his RAS is a home run
|
Reach

I wonder who exactly they are planning to start across from Clark.
I like the swing. |

I still expect a vet like Ingram. And this kid in the mix some. Let's see how he takes to actual coaching. |
Imagine thinking that you know how NFL teams value these guys on day 3.
How is a guy with elite measurables at a valuable position with the last pick of the 4th a reach? |

Tanoh’s athleticism has always been overblown. |

Only behind Chase and Phillips coming out of high school.
We must see something fun. |
This kid is not Kpass. He’s way more explosive and has nice bend
|
If you’re going to take a flier I’ll take the long athletic dude over the limited try hard guy.

Kpass would’ve been fine as the last pick in the 4th. Hope this guy is Kpassian.

JK was the #3 DE coming out of HS behind Chase Young and J. Phillips. One word, injuries. He's not this year's Kpass. This is this year's Lucas Niang.
Kpass was a big reach from the start. This is where you draft guys like this. |

Kaindoh should be afforded time to develop before passing judgment, but my concern is the lack of production given the strong measurables. Obvious this guy does not know how to put it all together yet. I see too many snaps where he allows guys to get into his chest and just steer him. He needs to learn to use his hands better and keep blockers off his frame. Outstanding length and he has a pretty good jump off the snap though.
|
Maybe the Chiefs will give him a few snaps at TE, as that length would be great for endzone jump balls. The few tape bits I’ve seen, looks like he has good hands? :-)
|
This is exactly who you should pick at the end of the 4th round - high ceiling guy with a chance to be a solid starter. You're not going to get blue chip guys without risks at this point.
|
Picks are lottery tickets, especially at this point of the draft.
Wouldn’t you want a ticket with one of the biggest potential winnings? |

They've had multiple coaches since Jimbo left for A&M and each and every one of them has sucked ass. The dude clearly has great length, athleticism and upside so now, it's up to Spags and boys to coach him up, which I'm sure they'll do in spades. |

I was! That’s why these guys are my favorite picks. EDIT: I was wrong...I loved it. |
Funny how one evaluator says he has "great bend" while another says he's not bendy enough.
It's really difficult to trust these internet evaluations. |

The guy is big and fast. They obviously liked his measurables and felt he was a rare gem that just needed polishing. If it works out, it fills a need. I'm good with the pick.

our pick is in!
