Dear Browns fans

Welcome to Chiefs Planet

We have many threads about air fryers and related threads. These are the only ones you are

Please check all of them out. Nothing else on this forum will be of use to you.

**** it. I'll say it.

I'm happy for you guys. Prior to Patrick Mahomes II, we were in a similar malaise of ass and failure.

I'm happy for you.

Mostly because I'm sick of the same ****s in the playoffs every year, and knocking Big Rape out in spectacular fashion was worth the price of admission.

Thanks.

Now **** off and die.

Graystoke 01-11-2021 08:26 AM

I am actually happy for the Browns and their fans.
They won a playoff against a familiar rival that has been kicking their ass for decades.
Welcome to CP.

This year is the first time it truly feels like a new era in the AFC. Bills and Browns actually having a modicum of success while the Patriots and Steelers are well and truly dead and now the Chiefs are the gatekeepers.

Thank the football gods. I'm 40 and nearly my entire adult life has been wasted skipping super bowls that featured Indy, Pitt, Balt and Cheaters.

Look at the difference in the starting QBs for the next round in the NFC and AFC;

NFC; Brady, Brees, Rogers, Goff

AFC; Mahomes, Allen, Mayfield, Jackson

In the NFC you have 3 in the "Ok Boomer" category and a broke dick / never will be.

In the AFC four of the "next generation" (not stating anything about skill, just perception) of QBs in the NFL.

Exciting times.

Not sure what we're celebrating here. AFC Pride? Personally I'd rather see a few of those QBs in the NFC.

Yup. Browns won their super bowl yesterday. The fans deserve it after all theyve been through. They're not there yet and most browns fans, the most self loathing fan base out there, knows that. The Chiefs will handle them but they should be very pleased with how the season went

Hoover 01-11-2021 09:09 AM

Welcome to the Planet Shit Stains!

I kinda root for your team, and especially Baker. Thought the coaching hire was perfect.

But mostly because of your win vs Pitt, I hit on a three team parlay. Thanks for the 800 bucks!

Eh, I have two lines of thinking about it. On the one hand, I obviously want the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl every year. But then is it really in the best interests of the NFL for that to be the case? The past 20 years in the AFC have, honestly, kind of sucked with it being nothing but Brady, Manning, and Roethlisberger every year. Meanwhile, the NFC has been a lot of fun with a revolving set of winners.

So yes, it would be nice for the "good" QBs to get out of our way, but as long as it's new and interesting teams having success, it's not gonna bother me that much.

Cleveland has suffered longer, I guess it’s okay.

smithandrew051 01-11-2021 09:33 AM

Browns win kind of reminded me of the Chiefs beating the Texans in the playoffs in 2015. It was a long time coming and the Texans (like the Steelers) absolutely collapsed.

Additionally, the Chiefs still weren’t ready to be a true contender as we lost to the Patriots in the next round. I suspect this will be similar.

morphius 01-11-2021 09:45 AM

I still love the "factory of sadness" video, man how we could relate to that.

ClevelandBronco 01-11-2021 09:49 AM

I’m tempted to watch the game this week. I won’t, but it helps to admit that I’m tempted.

I don't mind the lack of parity, I'd rather see the best teams every year, even if that means the same few teams.... granted, it's also kind of sad hearing about these teams that have gone 10+ years without even one playoff victory.

I do like these QBs being in the AFC though... next season they'll see Allen again and IIRC the AFCN set of young QBs. Hopefully we'll see a great rivalry or two out of it.

I know how Browns fans feel today....

They feel like they're nervous poopers....they've been traveling for Christmas, had some big meals and got home for a "home game" in the outhouse.....Their pants fit better and they feel like a new person.

In that division, Cleveland is the only team it's not easy to hate.

Yup. Especially those who care. I could give a shit about fair weather fans like the chargers. Or fans like cincy and indy who ive found can barely name a few players on the team. Cleveland and Buffalo, like kc, sat through the shittiest of shit and still were diehards. I'm not even a little sad that we'll sledgehammer their hopes and dreams but much respect to their fan bases.

gblowfish 01-11-2021 12:50 PM

I see this game for the Browns in this similar light: KC went into Houston and shut out the Brian Hoyer led Texans for their first playoff win in FOREVER. The next week KC went to New England and lost to Hoodie. We were playing with house money. Nobody expected KC to win. They played a decent game but lost. I think Cleveland is at that same spot in their journey now. They finally got the Steelers and the Playoff monkey off their back. Now they're playing with house money coming into KC. Chiefs are the more talented and playoff experienced team. Browns will most likely play well but come up short at Arrowhead. Predict KC-Buffalo for AFC Championship game. A chance for KC to get even for the Bills knocking Joe Montana out in 1993. I'm all about revenge from past nightmares. This would be sweet.

L.A. Chieffan 01-11-2021 12:54 PM

The draft may be an issue. Look at the nfc. Horrible teams are ending up with 5 or 6 wins because they're beating each other up. Meanwhile bad teams in the AFC get beat up by good teams and end up with bad records.
The worst afc teams will end up with better draft picks that make it more likely they get a better qb.

As I recall, there was a lot of talk going into that game about them getting revenge on us for the '66 AFL championship. However, I don't really need revenge for that game because we weren't the better team and we weren't going to win the super bowl. I prefer the idea of giving them reason to fear us in any future matchup.

LOL. I really was not going to waste time addressing this, but it is way too funny. You guys and your care for who I like, and the shit you make up is comical as hell. Never liked the WFT, did and still do love Alex. Came here because of Alex, stayed because i genuinely liked the Chiefs and most of the fans here, but Ive supported the Browns since 99 when my life long Browns fan grandfather passed away. But i like it better. We will just assume i like everyone, and you, a guy i have NEVER spoken to in 8 years can keep up the weirdo behavior. I find it funny as hell.

I'm not 'scared' scared of the Browns, but what I am is happy that we face them right away.

They're gonna come down off a high this week, but if we were facing a team that has NEVER been to the SB in the AFC championship game instead, that's a wide-open animal.

The Browns are so well coached that a let down wont be likely. The difference is in Talent at qb, the skill positions, and experience. Sendejo our starting free safety is a very poor man's Sorensen, you guys know all about Terrence Mitchell, and MJ Stewart, and Kevin Johnson really shouldnt be on NFL rosters. WE have ZERO answers for Kelce. I cant even fathom who is going to attempt to cover him. TakiTaki cant, Jacob Phillips Cant, Bj Goodson cant, Karl Joseph you guys saw for years with the Raiders cant. The only guy with any shot is Ronnie Harrison, and he gets hurt EVERY GAME. Kelce may have 200 yards receiving.

Howdy Chief Kingdom. As a Browns fan, still trying to process euphoria from last night.

I think any rational Browns fan realizes the season will most likely end next Sunday, but regardless of what happens, this season has been a win. I wouldn't be surprised to see them cover the 10 points however. Chiefs should see a good dose of Chunt, and with return of multiple pro-bowlers and starters/coaches from COVID list, should be respectable.

I was introduced to the Chiefs as a kid, watching Deberg and Okaye beat the Browns like a dirty carpet in early 90's. The 02 Dwayne Rudd helmet toss game still lives on in Browns lore, also was the last year we made it to the playoffs.

Glad we can meet up in the playoffs finally- look forward to Sunday.

Odds are the Chiefs will prevail easily, but if they don't, I'll be joining the Browns bandwagon. We know how great it is to end the playoff drought around here.

"Watching DeBerg and Okoye beat the Browns like a dirty carpet"

I like the cut of your jib, good luck in the playoffs... NEXT year :)

Pretty much this. There is also a sigh of relief for fans that we don't have to keep looking for a FQB and coach for the foreseeable future. The light went on midway through the year for Baker which coincided with some of the offensive explosion games.

Get the experience this year, and spend the entire draft/FA on defense and see where next year goes.

Welcome. Can barely imagine how much fun last night's game was for you. Gotta love Roethlisberger giving Browns fans the satisfaction of seeing him literally cry on the sidelines.

10.5 point spread is stupid.

If I were gambling on football I’d take the browns to cover.

Stick around. Talk ball. Don’t troll.

It's a blessing and a curse. The browns probably have their version of Alex Smith. Not good enough to take you all the way but seems good enough to give the team some consistent stability. He doesn't look to me like an FQB but he seems like the stopgap Cleveland needs.

Being a Chiefs and Royals fan, it's easy for me to like Cleveland's teams and fans and wish them well and success, except when they are playing KC. One of my favorite sportswriters, Joe Posnanski, is a big Cleveland Browns fan. The Indians long-time announcer, Tom Hamilton, is one of my favorite radio broadcasters and would always amaze me how well he knew the Royals and how fairminded he was about them in calling Royals-Indians games. I just now learned that his son Nick has been a Royals scout.
In addition to the two hilarious hastily-made Cleveland tourist videos, there seems to be a lot to like about Cleveland. My friends who grew up rooting for Cleveland teams are fun to be around. They know the pain that being a sports fan can cause, that's for sure. I can definitely relate to a 20+ year NFL Playoff Victory drought, given that the Chiefs have two of them in our history! I'm glad Cleveland ended that drought yesterday.

Considering the conveyor belt of QB suck that's rolled through Cleveland over the years, I'm sure Baker looks like the second coming to them.

Yup. It's a familiar feeling for us.

Meh.. if it was early season Baker I would agree with you. His play recently has actually been really good. The guy has been in three different systems since being drafted, and think this offense is finally clicking with him.

Another year with the same coach in the same system will do wonders. Would be disappointing if he turned out to be more of a Alex Smith type QB.

I think that's a LITTLE unfair. He's not Mahomes, but he still has plenty of potential. He at least throws the ball down field from time to time.

LOL. You all aren't bad over here.

Personally, I much rather have the Chiefs be the AFC leaders than the Patriots/Steelers/Ravens. We also share a strong hatred of Elway and Broncos with you guys. :toast:

I feel like Browns and Bills fans are cut from the same football cloth, so pretty cool to see both in the AFC Divisional round. Hope this is the future of the playoff landscape.

Alex Smith isn't bad either. It's a compliment. Baker can do more things than Alex but that doesn't mean he should. He's at his best in the limited way Stefanskis using him. Making less mistakes, scripted reads, creative misdirection. Open it up too much and I feel like he can hit a real Jake plummer streak.

They're gonna come down off a high this week, but if we were facing a team that has NEVER been to the SB in the AFC championship game instead, that's a wide-open animal.

Not scared 'scared' of Cleveland, but a bit nervous about the Chiefs...their performances in December do not encourage me. I really hate to think of another one and done like 95 and 97...
