Only Jim Brown and Bobby Mitchell (Big10 sprint/hurdles champ) on a par with the thunder & lightnin' we saw with Larry Csonka & Mercury Morris. When Jim Brown walked away from pro football for Hollywood the Browns had a punt returner named Leroy Kelly...... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0D_590er3pA" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> ***about what baseball legend Jackie Robinson jumped while at Pasadena City, his older bro Mack a 1936 Olympic 200m silver medalist. |

He would return 3 punts and 3 kickoffs to score in his Browns days. He ran back 2 more kickoffs as a Redskins WR, a Hall of Famer. Trivia What RB did Paul Brown mention trading Jim Brown for? |
This guy just might be the most forgotten/lost in obscurity GREAT RB there is.

Suntanned my butthole this weekend. AMA. I now understand Algebra. .....I get how all that info must confuse ya. You seem to have problems. I Think I'm A Prick Over the course of this week I've been reflecting on my behaviors and overall general attitude and emotional well being over the last few months. It's clearly declining, certainly here, and I don't like it. Not to sound like a faerie, but this site was a great find for me and has been a big part of my life for quite some time. I've made IRL friends here, I made online friends and, like it or not, you guys (and Ladies) are a part of my life. I've taken that for granted. So this thread is not to make David feel better or anything. Rather it is to let everyone know that I recognize this and am changing course toward the David that used to be and the David I want to be. But not before I offer apologies to anyone I may have crossed. I know there's a few. Peace out. ~~~~~~~~~~ I just talk football, don't get all wrapped up with posters until they get funky. |

I think you're all overlooking Stump Mitchell, RB for the St. Louis Cardinals. Great balance, vision, and durability. Now the RB coach for the Cleveland Browns. Put some respeck on his name. |

He was out of The Citadel, he belongs in this thread! Cool first name...Lyvonia. |
Staying with birds.....

He was a good looking guy, had some work in Hollywood after football. |
He gets forgotten....

I would kick your behind in the 100m dash.

What seperated Usain Bolt from everyone else? He spent less time decellerating, why..........come on why? Being this thread is about running back, give me the fastest RB to ever play in the NFL (won't count Bob Hayes, he was a WR in the pros) And won't count Trindon Holliday, he was just a kick returner in the pros, which was a big mistake. Hint While in college he was the only NFL RB (to be) who was ever world ranked at 100m. Ram RB Ollie Matson was world ranked at 400m, an Olympic medal will do that. |

Texas A&M's Curtis Dickey is the fastest NFL RB ever, he has ran a 10.10. BUT...the fastest RB ever was a HS kid named Houston McTear out of Baker HS in Florida. As a junior he ran a 9.0 for yards to tie the WR. Averaged over 13 yards a carry, and here he is. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Tn2S7NIo6...tonQuarrie.jpg Here he's beating the great Jamaican sprinter Don Quarrie. |
I still bang the drum for James Brooks. I think he's hugely underrated in NFL history.
Among non-Chiefs, James Brooks and Kenny Easley were two guys that I thought didn't get the credit they deserved. I was delighted to see Easley go into the Hall of Fame. He was the best strong safety the NFL has ever seen. |

Kenny was Easley nominated to go into the HOF. |

I totally agree he was a stud especially for his size. Far stronger than he should have been at that size. Kenny Easley UCLA's Ronnie Lott, the guy was a ultra stud, I need a video. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/96VoLMlSKeU" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Can't wait for the Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch thread...........
|
Maybe not underrated but most certainly forgotten by today's fans: Hugh McElhenny. I can remember watching this man in action for the 49ers back in the day; simply one of the best.

He is and always has been the greatest white running back, and if not for sharing carries with the great Joe Perry his numbers would have been a lot better. The guy had it all. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0zP_SBa8MpY" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Then there was "Jaguar" Jon Arnett a 24 foot long jumper at USC. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8P0Vo-MQJXw" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I think guys like Natrone Means, Rickey Watters, and Deuce McAlister are criminally underrated...

Marion Butts.
Plus the chargers guys just had great names (Natrone Means, Marion Butts) in the AFCW era of big backs. I used to go to their games and always hated what they did to us. Then have to listen to “Hacksaw” all week on sports radio 610. |

MacArthur "Truck" Lane loved that guy he personified Marty Schottenheimer type back. Truck started as a linebacker switched to running back and played with the mentality of a linebacker. He would take you straight up and on usually dealing the Pain. Probably the toughest RB the chiefs ever had. He ran for 144 yards at age 36 for chiefs in a 1978 playoff loss to the Bills. Still a record in NFL for oldest player running for most years in a playoff game.
