Is the NFL season next?
There’s talk about the draft getting cancelled.
Will the NFL season be next? |
No and the draft will not be cancelled. There just won’t be any fans attending. Maybe not even players.
|
It might get pushed back...thats about it.
|
Canceling the draft itself? Or the show around the draft. You can still show the draft on TV and have the teams call in their picks. The whole reason that videoconferencing was invented was so the NFL draft wouldn't be disrupted by a pandemic.
|
NFL has all next week to its self for free agency. They gonna enjoy that

Well look at it this way - if it happens, we'll be reigning champs for an extra year for free.
And if the world ends, we'll be reigning champs FOREVER! |
Covid19 is a seasonal virus, much like the flu. It'll have run this course by July at the latest. Then it's back next December but people will have been exposed so immunity will be better and possible a vaccine will have been developed by then too.
|
Yes for the next 10 years all events will be canceled and people will be forced to stay in thier homes 24/7.
Seriously 6 months away, if it hasn't run it's course already by then, then we're likly all dead already so why worry about it now. |
Jesus, no.
I do wonder what NASCAR will do. |
Televising the draft is the best way to ensure I stay home glued to my TV for the weekend. Televising the draft will save lives.

MLB might be able to argue that they don't have crowds at their games. |

The can call in the draft. Depending on the outbreak, they'll have to cancel or postpone the OTAs etc..

Then again, if you look at all the cases south of the equator they total up to around .25% of all the cases so maybe you’re right. |
Manfred is having a conference call with all 30 owners in about an hour. Announcement will be made after that

The whole god damn world will be cancelled and my ass will still have to go to work

LOL Rain Man
I had a double take looking at your Ermine..... Haha |
You can have FA and the draft be completely remote events. No reason to cancel.
This happened at the perfect time for the NFL. We’ve got a little over 4 months until camp starts and they can push that into August if need be. We should be in much better standing by then. |
NHL just suspend their season and the Eagles just closed their facilities
|
MLB just cancelled spring training and has pushed back the start of the regular season

It's a long time before the NFL season. However, the Olympics could be in danger.

The NFL. Dead at 100.

Our Chiefs played in the first SB and the last SB. |
Speaking of the NFL! We have a stud!!

NFL free agency/hot stove is basically going to be the only sports-related activity going on during the next few weeks.
NFL still saying that the league year is going to open next week as scheduled. |
Quote:
1. If I'm the players I sign that CBA now, our economy is tanking right now. 2. No reason not to have free agency. Teams can send private planes with docs to give physicals or bring them into the facility. 3. With no sporting events to cover, the NFL can own the space. Same with the draft, you don't need to do it in Vegas, but there is no reason not to have it. |
The XFL is here to save us!
I don’t think they have announced any cancellations yet ? |

this is just training wheel bullshit from govt to see how bad they can really make it and we'll still be dumb enough to take it. |
I agree you can still hold the draft, although it won't be the spectacle it normally is. Being a little selfish, the Chiefs probably won't be major players in FA so I really don't care. OTAs and such may not be that big of value. Camp could be pushed back and that could be a problem for fringe players because the season most likely will start on time. Bottom line for our Chiefs is other than CB, we pretty much know what our team will look like next year.
|
Could they play the games without fans?

I heard on some sports talk shows today, that the current economy due to this virus could make the new proposed CBA null & void. Basically there might not be the same profits they were expecting for the cap to go up, or to give the players the additional profit percentage etc., Does anyone think this is possible?
