Andy Reid: An Apology
Coach,
I have always liked you as an individual. We've never met, but from the outside you seem like a good man who genuinely cares about the people around you. And I think that's a rarity, something we could all strive to do more, and do better, whether we're in the NFL or not. It makes you an easy person to root for. But, over the years, I've never really been a believer in you as a coach. You showed yesterday, however, that you are everything that ownership and the front office, the coaching staff and the players have always believed that you are. The game was not pretty. It wasn't perfect. But the team came through when it needed to, made plays on both sides of the ball with the game on the line. And that's a testament to you. Sure, Patrick Mahomes was a big reason we won, once again doing things nobody else can do. But he wouldn't be the same player without you. This wouldn't be the same team without you. Coach, you have turned this franchise around. Turned it into a champion. I didn't believe you'd do that. Honestly didn't believe that you could. But you did. So no more doubts. I apologize for not believing sooner, and even more for some of the things I've said in reference to you as a head coach over the years. As it turns out, you didn't deserve any of it. Thanks for everything, with all sincerity. |
Loved going for it on 4th!

LUZZ ME SOME COACH REID!! |
Mitch and Art were talking last night about how sincere Andy's care for his players is. Guys want to be around him. Great job, coach.

It’s still crazy to think we’re here now considering the state of the franchise when Reid took over. Credit to Clark Hunt for not leaving Philadelphia without Reid on board.

Reid earned every criticism he got. He got it done this time. Hes a worlds champ and lock for the Hall of Fame. He will go down as one of the best Chiefs coaches of all time and im glad hes here. But if you believe this somehow absolves him of all prior pant shitting and we owe an apology for criticising past gaffes, Im sorry but no. Hell as recent as the inexplicable surrender screen on 3rd n 14, and the unfathomably stupid first half timeout, it was lookin like same ol Andy. He called an Alex Smith first half, then he pulled his head out and delivered. Im stoked and grateful, but it doesnt erase his prior 14-14 postseason record, which before this years playoffs was a losing 12-14. We are happy he won, but lets not get carried away on the shit. The guy had a spoof made on him ffs called We are never gonna win with Andy. He earned, and deserved those criticisms about nevergetting it done. Its what makes this so special. |
Reid hating crew did, does and will always suck.

Thats on par with drunken exclamations of "I LUUH YEW MAHN! I AWAYS LUHH YEW MAN!" He delivered. No chiefs fan can ever repay him for what he just did. But it doesnt change what happened prior. That Blake Bell screen on 3rd n 2 isnt any less offensive now than it was then. Stickng with clueless Grampa Bob because he cared about the MAN instead of the RESULTS isnt all of a sudden an unquestionable decision. The term "full reidtard" didnt just come out of the ****ing blue. We had the talent to get one sooner. It didnt happen. Some of that falls at Andys feet. |

He has 222 victories and a Super Bowl win. That's, like, one of the best coaches of all time. The great part? There's more to come... |

Ok. |
Never understood the Reid haters. Has he been perfect? No, but no one ever is.
Seriously, who would you rather have coach your NFL team? Not rhetorical. Perhaps you could say Bellicheat, but if that were the case, I'd root for another team, so... |

I thought I was pretty clear, but if Wallcrawler's response is any indication, then maybe I wasn't.
This is what I said. This is all that I said. Quote:
Those comments were clearly wrong... As far as criticism goes, i didn't mention anything at all. Criticism and analysis is great, it's why we're here. My only intention is to apologize for some of my hyperbole. I just didn't get specific, because my intention was for this to be more about him than me. |

The 7 years before Reid:
9-7 ... 4-12 ... 2-14 ... 4-12 ... 10-6 ... 7-9 ... 2-14. Playoffs: 2 losses. That's it. The 7 years since Reid took over a 2-14 team in a draft with no franchise QB prospect: 11-5 ... 9-7 ... 11-5 ... 12-4 ... 10-6 ... 12-4 ... 12-4. Playoffs: 5 wins. 2 AFCCG app. 1 Super Bowl ring. Andy Reid is the single greatest thing to happen to this franchise, other than Patrick Mahomes. |

I'm a lifelong Eagles fan, but always lurked here on this forum the first year Reid showed up in KC. Personally, I've always felt like Philly cut him (Reid) on two bad years which I didn't see being entirely his fault and thought KC got a great coach. The only coach I believe is better in the league is Bilichick. However, all one has to do is look to Tom Landry on how important winning is and forgetting about where the coach has taken the team and getting the boot. If anything, Reids former players should tell you more about what kind of Coach Reid is... Apologies, first time posts not able to submit links (makes sense considering the forum doesn't wait 2 months until giving me permission to post here LOL). Look up what Reids former plays had to say about his winning the superbowl. That said, if my Eagles couldn't be in the SB, the only other team I really root for now is the Chiefs, and that's because of what Reid brought to Philly. If you haven't heard, philly fans can be real buttholes LOL (in my defense, couldn't pay me to live in any city, let alone philly, as shooting and peeing off my back porch is a pretty important way of life for me LOL). |

Is Reid the perfect coach? Heck no. He can screw up like anyone of them. However, I do find it a rare combination in a coach where players genuinely like to play for the coach and the coach wins, particulary in professional sports where it's strictly business and people become millionaires by playing a game. Anyone can root for a winning team. Funny thing about winning, I have long ago left my "home" state of Pennsylvania, and I now get a kick out of all the Eagles hats and shirts I now see south of the Mason Dixon line AFTER they won the superbowl. I can still remember going to Veterans staduim rooting for Bill Bergy in the 70's and never imagining the Birds every winning a superbowl. |
