Thank you to Chiefsplanet

Hey, folks.

This is a sentimental post, apologies in advance.

I am on cloud nine, both because I simply can not believe what we just witnessed and the also the various substances I consumed earlier today.

Some of you won’t care about this info (this thread could very well get buried - some old timers might dig it - we’ll see), some already figured this out (nothing gets by you, DaFace), but here it is.

“Just standin’ around, suckin’ on a big ol’ chili dog” was all my best friend and I. We found Chiefsplanet as sixth graders from gblowfish’s website. Reading through his “coaches who sucked” page was a cathartic event after a disappointing 2004 finish. A year later we decided to make accounts, and unsurprisingly, our 13 year old grammar, style, and lack of conversational ability did not go over well with the old guard here. My friends and I trashed Chiefsplanet after getting razzed by some of the regulars and old timers here. We were 13 & 14 years old and decided to troll on our way out and never come back.

Yet...

We never left. The community here had a way of keeping us around. Since being a teenager and surviving high school (unsurprisingly, school and certain parts of the childhood were a rough time for me) I started a non-profit and received unbelievable support from this community (shoutout to ChiTown!). It was thanks to a lot of the folks in the community on here that we were able to help fund the construction of a school in an indigenous community in Nepal (seriously) In 2016, I met an extraordinary person on here (C3HIEF3S) who was moving to Lawrence. He soon became one of my best friends in world and was eventually a groomsman at my wedding, and this week- I realized that I have now spent half of my life on Chiefsplanet and have grown up in a real way here.

Thank you to the mod and admin staff for creating such a fantastic culture here - and of course, to the entire community. We survived heartbreaks, the Pioli era, and saw disappointments that were too much for so many fairweather fans. After all of that, today we ascended to the mountaintop - and the feeling was better than anything I could have imagined.

I’m starting a $5 monthly donation. Chiefsplanet created a place of unity for us and I can’t wait to celebrate many more championships here. Thank you for making this place feels like home, folks. I’m now 27 years old and out in Colorado. Tomorrow my wife and I will be moving into our dream home, and I honestly can’t believe it.

How bout’ those Chiefs?

C3HIEF3S 02-02-2020 10:53 PM

Thank you Chiefsplanet.

In June 2016 I moved to Lawrence and transferred to KU, where I didn’t know a single person, yet a man named Chiefspants sent me a private message here and offered to show me around campus and the city. We talked Royals for hours, we talked Chiefs heartbreaks, and we talked life.

He left Lawrence later that summer, but not before helping make Lawrence feel like home. This website gave me a best friend that I was able to attend the AFC Championship game with to celebrate what brought us together in the first place. I love this site, I love KC, and I am so appreciative that CP gave me a brother for life.

It was honor, dude. I knew if anyone would be up to go to the AFCCG from out of state on a whim - it’d be you. Still can’t believe that happened.

Thanks again for creating this community, Chiefsplanet.

I mean that.

Happy to be a part of it.

Me too. Was a California native who became a soft-core fan in 1994, but in 2005 I joined this board, went my first Arrowhead game a year later, several bashes/tailgates. Eventually moved there but just for a couple years. Would never have done all that if not for this site.

Also, Crystal Plunger.

I might have talked the most shit on AC but I can't think of any man outside of Hough Heffner that gave me more joy over the years.

PROST TO YOU AC! :toast:

Prost to the man who gave all of us this for 2 decades...

Until you've ravaged a cheap motel with Bob Dole you're still soft-core.

I dunno, sounds like C3IEF3s bone might be in him. J/K. Good stuff chiefspants. This place does have a certain sense of family and community that you just don't see other places. I think it's a KC thing really. This town is full of those kinds of people. Congrats on the new digs in Colorado

InChiefsHeaven 02-11-2020 10:51 AM

I joined as InChiefsHell, almost as a joke but over the years it became a badge of honor. I came to this site because well, in my life I actually don't know many Chiefs fans, and certainly not hard core fans like we have here. My wife gives me shit about how much time I spend here talking, arguing, laughing, whatever. I get most of my news about sports, politics, the world in general from CP. You guys are the best.

I will have sex with any of you...but just the tip...and just for a minute...

Thank you a thousand times over. My wife and I got really lucky with the market and were able to flip a little house we bought a couple of years back to get the home we have today. It was wild the Super Bowl happened to be the day before we closed.

We would not have found Chiefsplanet without your radblow site! Your “coaches who sucked” page was cathartic after our disappointing finish in 2004. As a disappointed sixth grader Chiefs fan, your website and Chiefsplanet had the exact kind of cynicism I was looking for, as a lot of my friends in that era were the type who thought Damon Huard was the franchise QB the Chiefs had always needed.

We were also weekly readers of Doggity’s reports in 2005!

I hope Phobia was elated last week as well as all of the old-timers. It was cool to see a lot of the long-time lurkers emerge in week leading up to the Super Bowl, but it'd be awesome if we were able to get an old-time celebration thread/discord together. We all shared some lean times as fans of this team -- and the last two years made them all worth it.

Kman34 02-12-2020 10:15 AM

I was on the old Kc star board and remember some asshat always posting that the Chiefs where going to move to California..ROFL..

Found this place around 2011 and lurked for a couple years and then joined the CP circus... I don’t go 4 hrs in my day without checking CP and consider it second family... Some of the family are more nutty than others though, but that’s true in all families..

I feel like CP has been the only place I could come after the Chiefs re-defined ways to lose and break our hearts...and people would understand.

And I feel like CP is the only place I can come after the Chiefs re-defined what redemption looks like and gave us moments we'll never forget...and people would understand.

It was great to meet a few of y'all in Miami and I look forward to celebrating years of Mahomes glory here.

KurtCobain 02-12-2020 10:43 AM

First down Sammy that's what it was.

My original account was Wendyschili(?) I think?

The account we trolled the forum with was something related to “rade”. Our favorite drink was Gatorade am (not joking).

How we trolled is that we both signed onto the account and at that time, there was no limit to how much you could post (now there is a 20 second limit). This allowed us to basically overwhelm the forum instantly since both of us were posting in different threads at the same time. The rade account and Wendyschili accounts were banned soon after (we did have a few doppelgängers do the same thing months later if memory serves) and I made this account later in the summer once I found myself continuing to come back here.

A few years later I got convinced by my buddies to give it another try (this time we had 5-6 high school friends all raring to go). This time we were immediately knee-capped by the reporting system and DaFace linked my IP to a few of the accounts (We were posting from our high school computer lab, believe it or not). DaFace Permabanned my Chiefspants account (I had posted from the school before, and Buck was onto me too). DaFace let me back in after I apologized over e-mail and promised to knock it off forever (DaFace basically read me my last rites). Thanks for that, DaFace. A year later I would make my first post asking people to consider donating to a school in Nepal - and after DaFace saw our non-profit partner was legit, he gave me a blank slate. With how people like Chitown have transformed what is now my non-profit, I couldn’t be more thankful for the admin staff here for giving me another chance in this community.

KurtCobain 02-12-2020 01:39 PM

Dope.
