O line VS Titans D line

How does everyone feel about the line going into this one? I think we’re good on the edges but have some concern about the interior blocking Casey. What do you think?

pugsnotdrugs19 01-18-2020 11:29 AM

Just do what we do best (pass the ball a lot) and I’m not concerned at all. Their pass rush isn’t much, if any better than Houston.

Moving pocket is something weve done a lot of. Mahomes is gonna Mahomes.

Andy just needs to not do incredibly stupid shit like call running plays straight at him.

The Franchise 01-18-2020 11:30 AM

Just don’t start Wylie or Erving and we’re fine.

FringeNC 01-18-2020 11:34 AM

Whenever we struggle a bit on offense, it's almost always because the line is getting abused. I don't think the Titans are good at rushing the passer, but I almost guarantee the whole Tennessee D game plan is focused on getting pressure somehow on Mahomes. It's really the only way to slow the Chiefs O down.

Cosmos 01-18-2020 11:58 AM

I think the focus is in our Dline vs Tenn Oline...

Easy 6 01-18-2020 12:00 PM

They’ll be fine in pass pro, but won’t open many running lanes

Hoover 01-18-2020 12:17 PM

What was the online when we played them last? Pretty sure we were missing at least LDT and Maybe Fisher. And we were just fine.

St. Patty's Fire 01-18-2020 12:54 PM

I think our o line has a chance to dominate in pass blocking situations. I don’t see much run blocking success but I don’t think that’s very important.

If Mahomes has time to sit in the pocket and go through his reads he’s going to slice and dice this Titans secondary.

It’s probably one of the bigger matchup advantages for the Chiefs on paper IMO. Let’s see what the Titans do on defense. I could see them getting exotic with their alignments, bringing pressure from all different parts of the defense. Gonna need Pat and the o line to be on the same page, and I’m sure they will be.

I just want our o-line to be very very NASTY is all I'm asking. I don't worry about our d-line being nasty with all the Derrick Henry talk this week.

LiveSteam 01-18-2020 01:07 PM

Ill take KCs offensive line VS Tennessee D- line all day, every day and twice tomorrow

Halfcan 01-18-2020 01:13 PM

I don't think they will be able to cover Kelce, even with a double team- or any of our RB's coming out of the backfield.

They couldn't 3 yrs ago before he got concussed on that targeting dirty hit. Granted it's a different team to some extent BUT there is a reason they are 20th in the 2ndary. What is their ranking defending against TEs ??

Hammock Parties 01-18-2020 01:20 PM

It doesn't matter.

Mahomes will just spread his leathery wings and fly.

Chiefshrink 01-18-2020 01:22 PM

This is really Vrabel vs Reid in the bitter cold at Arrowhead. Who do you trust more?

Chief Northman 01-18-2020 01:32 PM

Week 10 OL:

Erving-Rankin-Reiter-Wylie-Schwartz
- Rankin got injured so Wis came in and finished at LG. The offense passed for 433 and rushed for 97. Gave up a sack and had one turnover (Williams fumble for a TD). Mahomes had a near INT on the first play of the game with a couple other close calls. Rashaan Evans was arguably the best defensive player for the Titans. Overall, They are healthier going into this match up with Byard being back along with Jurell Casey.

Sunday OL:
Fisher-Wis-Reiter-LDT-Schwartz
- I expect a tougher defense from the Titans as they are healthy, and their secondary will be better, but the Chiefs OL has put together some decent outings as of late, especially in pass protection.

I am most concerned about a defense without Thornhill/and likely Jones.

Points will be scored tomorrow....

mililo4cpa 01-18-2020 01:41 PM

Tennessee doesn't blitz very often...

Wk 10: No Casey for them, but no Fish / Doc for us....Let's just say that's a net neutral trade off.

I don't think Casey at this point is so transcendental that a non-existent pass rush turns into something different. Even if they do get more, Pat knows how to buy time with his legs. Go back and watch the Texans game....there was no panic at all in Pat every time he had to step up....

ToxSocks 01-18-2020 01:44 PM

The Titans sack numbers arent far behind KC's. But their top rushers are LB's, which tells ya they have to blitz to generate pressure. Their front 4 isnt good enough to generate pressure on their own.

It’s very similar to how the Patriots play defense, which is no surprise. We’ve been preparing for this type of defense all offseason. We just thought it would be the Patriots instead of a Patriots tree coach.

We’ll be ready

Their strength is against the run. We don't run. Any pass rush they get from the front four is from their ends. Fisher and Schwartz consistently eliminate any pass rush from the outside in games like this. I don't see a problem.

As much as I don't like him giving bulletin board material, Tyreek Hill had it right. This will come down to their back seven against our receivers, and that just isn't a contest. There is no way they can cover Hill, Watkins, Hardman, Kelce and Williams out of the backfield. They don't have the horses in the secondary to cover half of those guys, much less all of them. So go ahead and play man and blitz. Please. Because your front four probably isn't getting pressure on it's own.. Or sit back in zone. Whatever. It isn't going to work, either way.

Our OL will play much better on passing downs this Sunday. They may even be dominant.

And it won't surprise me if they manage to run block well in spots. But for the most part I don't expect them to provide consistent running lanes for our RBs. But then, I don't expect us to run a lot anyway in this game. At least until the fourth quarter.

All of that plays to our OL's strengths as well. TEN doesn't have a good pass rush, whether it's with their down linemen or even if they bring extra rushers. They don't generate very much pressure, and they aren't going to have extra defenders to send anyway if they double Kelce and Hill. If I were Andy I'd run 5 receivers on every down. Force TEN to try and create a pass rush with their down DL. Then every down it would be our five OL against their four DL. And I think I saw that we had exceptional success in our first meeting from the 12 set? Start from the high ground . . . see if they learned to defend that.

If we pass block well, the Titans don't have much of a chance.

If you look at how they've gelled in the last 2-3 games, they are pass blocking much better than they were 5-6 weeks ago. Which shouldn't be a surprise; week 10 was their first game with all the original starters back on the field, and we lost a couple to injury in that game. It takes game reps for an OL to get their chemistry. I think I even postulated back then it might be week 14-16 before they looked like themselves.

Anyway, if you look at how they are playing for the last 3 games, they look a lot better about their pre-snap and their in-play communication.

Again, not sure they will be dominant, because the Titans have a really good DL, but I think they will definitely play better than they did in week 10, and might be a lot better than what some people think right now.

FloridaMan88 01-18-2020 03:04 PM

Hopefully the Chiefs stay with Wis even if Wylie is healthy enough to play.

There's no doubt that last week was the best they've play all year, but crazy things happen. After the first Patriots game last year, nobody expected their D line to dominate the first half like they did. Hopefully, Andy Heck doesn't get caught off guard again.

Chris Meck 01-18-2020 07:29 PM

yeah, please PLEASE blitz Mahomes. PLEASE.
