Has Chiefs mania bitten your town?

For you out of area members have you seen an uptick in Chiefs fans.

I wear a Chief cap and have a magnetic Chiefs emblem on my RAM , so just today I go into Sherwin Williams to pick up paint and the young lad starts talking Chiefs immediately . he went to school at Texas Tech and said his best friend was Mahomes room mate.

I then go to the hardware store and the cashier says ,are the Chiefs going to the SB . I replied , without a doubt.

I then pulled around back to pick up lumber and the loading guy starts asking me how i felt about the 1st qtr. last week. I tell him I killed all my pets and then felt bad after the 2nd qtr about what I'd done.

I'm seeing Chiefs flags popping up over the last year around my neighborhood.

On the Amarillo news tonight they had a segment about the number of tattoos with Chiefs and /or Mahomes going crazy at the tattoo parlors.

Are we the new America's team????

splatbass 01-17-2020 05:44 PM

My town is Honolulu, so no. But when I wear Chiefs gear (like my polo shirt today at work) many people comment, and always positive. The Chiefs are a likable team to anyone not in the AFC West it seems.

Or maybe they are just glad that the Pats aren't in it this year. :)

displacedinMN 01-17-2020 05:44 PM

The Mahomes Effect. Even people here want them to win.

Misplaced_Chiefs_Fan 01-17-2020 05:48 PM

I have run into a slough of Ravens fans this week who're rooting for the Chiefs this Sunday.

The enemy of my enemy and all that . . .

The Iron Chief 01-17-2020 06:03 PM

Here in upstate NY I will say 9 out of 10 people are on the Chiefs wagon..for the Superbowl run.
After that they'll scatter back to JETs,Bills,Giants.

I'm now 54 and I gotta say these past two years have been odd for me.

After all these years people will throw positive comments my way when I'm wearing my Chiefs gear etc..Usually I love watching Mahomes!!

This same thing happened last year as we entered the playoff push.
I'll hear a Go Chiefs!!!.. maybe a Mahomes rocks!!!...and last year I heard a shit ton of Beat BRADY PLEASE!!!

Maybe once a week in a mall or store I'll spot someone else with Chief gear on and we will stop and chat.

So Chiefs mania for the Superbowl push.. for sure!
Everyone loves watching our team play..its truth.
But their not changing teams.

Boise_Chief 01-17-2020 06:08 PM

In Boise I saw 3 people with gear on and truck in an hour span. Unprecedented around here in the past

LMAO

Shiver Me Timbers 01-17-2020 06:16 PM

Golden CO
Nothing crazy (other than me)
We have a couple dozen real fans here
My Colorado plates say MAHOMES so most of the time I get donko fans flipping me off as I speed by them.
Don't really know if it's mahomes or the rate of speed which I travel.....

Pablo 01-17-2020 06:18 PM

Yeah, it's a thing where I'm at.

That's pretty surprising. Chiefs are a much bigger threat to Baltimore over the next decade. If I was a Ravens fan, I would not want to see the Chiefs' young QB piling up a bunch of positive playoff experiences while the Ravens' young QB has had nothing but poor experiences in the playoffs so far.

Naptown Chief 01-17-2020 06:40 PM

I get routinely stopped while wearing a hat, beanie, hoodie, etc. Praise for Mahomes and the "You guys look good" talk. I did catch light hearted heat at the dispensary the other day. Last weekend they gave a 10% discount to anyone wearing Ravens gear. I wore Chiefs attire. I've only seen a couple of cars with stickers/magnets.

Yup. I was also told that, if Baltimore were to lose, they'd root for us

Spott 01-17-2020 06:43 PM

Not really. Been working in Cleveland for a while and haven’t seen another Chiefs fan up here. A kid working at the gym called me a “frontrunner” the other day when I was wearing my Chiefs workout shirt. I guess compared to the Browns, everyone’s a frontrunner.

Well, seeing how the Titans beat the Ravens .....Revenge!

FloridaMan88 01-17-2020 06:54 PM

A lot of people here in South Florida are rooting for a Chiefs-Packers Super Bowl because they think that will be the best from a business standpoint with two fanbases that will travel in large #'s.

DJay23 01-17-2020 07:02 PM

As a middle school teacher in Pennsylvania, I've spent the last 18 years listening to little boys tell me how much my team sucks and how they're going to lose...just because they are my team. No different this year.

The media hype for Rodgers & Mahomes would be insane.

I would love if I could respond to that statement with "So does your mom"

But sometimes I might say. "So does your grade"
Now I can say. "and it is not coming back from 24 points down in the second quarter"

Halfcan 01-17-2020 08:33 PM

We are going to paint the country Red!

RINGLEADER 01-17-2020 08:41 PM

Wearing my Mahomes jersey through LAX. Lots of positive comments.

KC_Lee 01-17-2020 08:42 PM

I live in Nashville, so no. Quite the opposite.

I just laugh at them because it is all so dumb. There are no shades of gray with them. You either win the Super Bowl or you suck.

I have Royals pennants hanging in my room. I actually had a kid last year ask if the Royals were still good. I told them no, not for the last few years. And these boys were like, "then why do you still like them?"

All I could say was, "You wouldn't understand."
:shake:

PHOG 01-17-2020 08:47 PM

Here, peeps are wanting a Chiefs-Packers SB. I personally don't see teh Cheesheads getting there, but whatever.

We party at a Place called Roosters in Tulsa, and I noticed that the Phoenix get together was at a place called Roosters last I knew...kinda cool.

The revenge tour continues, SB bound.

loochy 01-17-2020 08:53 PM

Yes, my suburban Fort Worth town enjoys the Chiefs.

ekf028 01-17-2020 08:57 PM

They’ve actually mentioned them a few times on the local news in Tulsa. A refreshing change from coverage of whatever teams that former OU stars play for.
I’ve always ran into plenty of Chiefs fans in NE Oklahoma.

Carlota69 01-18-2020 01:46 AM

Vegas is d3intely humming. I’m seeing a lot of Chiefs gear or stickers on cars. I can guarantee you I’m the loudest fan in the city. All week, while promoting a football party on the radio, I interjected “Go Chiefs”in between sentences..

Join us Sunday at Westgate for foot ball central...go chiefs...were gonna have drink specials food specials and lots of prizes...go chiefs..they’ll be betting stations right outside the door, smoke free theater and free parking...go chiefs...doors at 11; game kicks off at noon...GO CHIEFS

That’s basically what I did every time lol

UK_Chief 01-18-2020 01:46 AM

In the U.K. so no. Saying that there is a bit of an underground NFL following here and lots of people will watch the Super Bowl. I can see the chiefs gaining a lot of global support with the way they play. Especially if we get to a Super Bowl.

Titty Meat 01-18-2020 02:27 AM

Whole town lit up in red

scho63 01-18-2020 05:21 AM

Yup, at Amazon in Tempe I've seen three people in the last month all decked out in Chief's gear, two guys and a woman from Kansas.
I see it all around now excluding sports bars here in Scottsdale/Phoenix.

InChiefsHeaven 01-18-2020 06:25 AM

Omaha is weird, we have fans for Chiefs, Donks, Bears, Packers, Vikings and a few others scattered around. I wouldn't say the Chiefs are a dominant team for fans up here, but in the last 2 seasons I see a LOT more Chiefs gear in the stores, and a lot more of it being worn, so either the Chiefs fans are coming out of the woodwork or there is a bandwagon going on. Probably a little of both.

PhillyChiefFan 01-18-2020 06:39 AM

I live in south central PA. Here it’s a good mix of Eagles, Redskins , Ravens and Steelers fans. Every fan of one of those bases I’ve run into are rooting for the Chiefs. Especially Eagles fans. They still hold a lot of respect for Andy and want him to get a ring.

It’s strange to be one of the few fans left to be rooting for THEIR team this time of year and not just choosing another team or choosing the lesser of 2 evils.

ChiefsHawk 01-18-2020 06:51 AM

North Central Iowa so in the mid for vikings, packers and Chiefs. Been seeing a ton more chiefs stuff lately

Embrace the bandwagon. There are over 200,000 Texas Tech alums like myself who are pulling hard for Patrick and his teammates to run the table. :thumb:

I have told a lot of people there is room on the bandwagon. Join us PLEASE!!!!!

and the fact it is the 100yr anniversary of the NFL. Soooooo fitting !!:thumb:

Most donkey fans have been coming up to me and say they are rooting for us because they really like Pat.

I say back to them, "Yes he is very fun to watch, however, we have now owned you for the last 4 and 1/2 yrs with Pat at the helm for 2 and 1/2 of those(5 games). "Now you donkey fans are beginning to experience all the emotional and mental anguish we Chief fans went through all those Elway years". "Enjoy" !!:D
