It's up to the players, and I doubt they know the franchise's history in the playoffs going back more than a handful of years, or would even care about it if they did. They just want to beat the guys across from them. And there's no reason they shouldn't.

I believe you make your own luck by being in the right place at the right time. The Chiefs won a game they needed to win when Mahomes was out and beat the bad teams that they should beat to be where they are.

The Patriots were pretenders, we all knew that from their schedule. If the Chiefs play to their potential, they are the odds on favorite to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.

Well, I'm on board, but I'm that guy smiling but quiet, somewhere in the middle of the bus. Think of this season, and the magic we have seen:

So many injuries, Reek out twice, Pat injured for 2.5 games, Jones, Clark, Fish...so many injuries. Yet the team weathered that and only lost 4 games, all of them within one score.

Beat the Patriots in their house. They had a lot of gifts from the refs, but got totally screwed on the one gift to the Chiefs (which probably would not have won them the game but would have made it very very uncomfortable). That never happens.

Run the table after Pat's injury, 6 in a row and the 3 seed, when it seemed like we were maybe 4 seed at best and would have a long road to a SB.

We are in the era of Patrick Mahomes now. We finally have THAT guy. This championship window will be open for 15 years barring career ending injury.

There are scenarios in which we could be better next season than this one.

The rest of the NFL shall despair.
