Demarcus Robinson, a superstar in the making?
The penny seems to have dropped with this kid. He was absolute class against the Titans and once again he carried that form on last night. Folks have been raving about him In camp and it just all looks to be coming together for him now.
He's recently spoken about the hard work he put in with Pat In the offseason and how he's finally started to grasp the playbook, So I expect to see him get better and better with each snap. That stop-start move he pulled off for the touchdown yesterday was pure quality. He's just so elusive and his ability to get separation in tight spaces is second to none imo. I think he's gonna be our number three WR and I believe he will make a massive step forward this season. Because in terms of raw talent he really does have it all I think and he actually compliments Tyreek, Sammy and Kelce so well because his style is different to all of them. |
He is the kind of explosive player who can potentially be a star, yes... still a long way to go though, obviously
I do believe he will take the #3 from Conley, he is just a better all around athlete |
Conley can do one thing. Catch a 7 yard slant for a first down.
The Chiefs should restrict him to doing that one thing because Robinson is a quality #3. I love this guy. He's gonna catch bombs from Mahomes just like he did last year in the preseason. |
He only timed 4.59. He plays much faster. Faster than Conley, who ran a better 40.
I think he's going to turn out to be one of those guys who is just good at football and the measurables don't matter. |
Our WR corp is definitely deeper than any time in recent history. Our entire offense really is stacked when you add in Kelce, Hunt, and Ware.
Now we just need the o-line to take better shape. They have me pretty worried at the moment. |

Big fan of Robinson here. I was always in the Robinson over Conley camp this off season.
The thing is, unless we have an injury, his targets will be limited by having to play second fiddle to Hunt, Kelce, Hill and Watkins. |

For some reason that made me think of Rod Smith. Draft position and combine numbers don't mean everything. Rod Smith could play. So can Robinson. There shouldn't be any reason to have Conley starting over this guy in my opinion. |
Conley had infinitely better Combine numbers. But Robinson sure looks to be the better player on the field at this point. I really like him.

The way he plucks the ball out of the air on most of his catches is really nice.

Strong agree. He doesn't give up on plays and neither does Pat and that's gonna be worth something.

Thanks for the gifs Hammock. He was beating CB's all day against Denver and even though he dropped a few I felt like it was the first time that he really showed that he "belonged" on the NFL stage.
If you have gifs of his four catches In the playoff game please feel free to post them. |

I believe that this is Conley's contract season. With Hill and Watkins ahead of him and Robinson coming on strong, I can't see him getting a second contract in KC. Unless he has a good year and Watkins doesn't live up to his contract, causing them to keep him and release Watkins after year 2. Let's face it. Watkins won't carry the cap number that he has for year 3. He'll be extended or released after year 2.

Even if he was, there's no reason this thread can't contain both Demarcus Robinson discussion and classic CP fare. A mod even opened this can of worms. Because THIS IS CHIEFSPLANET. |

On a side note, he may have been wrong about Robinson, but he was the only guy on CP who actually got it right on Kev Russell not making the team. Nobody, me included thought that a 3rd round pick would not make the team. I looked it up. He hasn't posted since April 8 in the Sooo, Dane McCloud thread in the Romper Room. Such a shame. He was hard to get along with at times(especially if you're a troll like Clay), But he contributed a lot more knowledgeable football discussion than half of the "butt ****ing morons" on this board. |

Top end isnt the greatest, but he gets to his top gear suddenly... its evident in the double move, he accelerates out of that stutter step asap I'm thinking Antonio Freeman... not exactly eye popping at any one thing, but does everything well A football player |

If Robinson is a star in the making the Sammy Watkins signing makes even less sense.

What a problem that would be! |
As a fantasy footballer from way back...3rd year WR breakout season’s are legendary.

This FO is like the inverse of Carl's.
Bad at finding offensive linemen, great at finding WRs. |

It’s easy to sit there and say we should’ve spent the money elsewhere. How about some names that would’ve been great fits at affordable costs? It’s easier said than done. It’s not like we ignored our needs. People talk about Watkins like we didn’t also attack a need a ILB with the best FA available. They met with Mo Wilkerson who they obviously felt wasn’t worth the risk, and they weren’t able to get the other Fuller after trying. They clearly weren’t ignoring those positions. You can’t fix everything in one offseason. |
Quote:
I’m still wondering why he passed on all the corners in a strong corner draft, but have patience and let things play out. |
Quote:
Wilkerson's had the same offer from us as GB and he picked GB. I'm not sure if I wanted him after we just dumped our problem child on defense. Would have loved Fuller though. I've been critical of what Veach has done so far next year IMO could be make or break it's entirely way too early to make that statement but hes certainly set us up nicely for next off season |

Such an overreaction in regards to the Oline. The same or pretty much the same OL who allowed some QB named Smith to have a career year and at some point to be in the discussion for MVP. The same OL which had a rookie RB be the leading rusher. |
Carl's lines were legendary though.
Andy's lines have been mostly average at best, until last season, when they ticked slightly over. Now it looks like Fisher has regressed, Erving is a dumpster fire and even Schwartz didn't look good last night. If this FO found OL like it has found wide receivers we would have a top 5 line. |

To answer your question about who should we have got? I'd have to go back and look. I didnt pay much attention to free agency this year. I specifically said though defensive line was the #1 hole the Chiefs must fill. Blame Alex for that playoff game idgaf I was there. As soon as Chris Jones was injured that defense was useless. Hamilton and Jenkins are not good enough options. Bailey is too unreliable. |
I don't know if I'd go as far as 'superstar' but there's a very good chance he's going to break out this year. Him and Pat seem to have chemistry and he seems to be coming into his own.

I said this offense will be conservative for the first month while the youngin adjusts you're going to blame Reid and the line LMAO |
I told you guys a long time ago he'd be good. I watched him play college ball quite a bit.

San Diego is going to throw alot of stuff at Pat. Hes not going to be able to sit back there for 10 seconds and throw 50 yard bombs. Hes going to have to make quick short throws the same shit you all bitch about. I thought he was great at that last night. There was a 3rd down play he checked down to Hunt. Didnt get the first down but it was the correct play. That's the kind of shit people roasted Alex and Reid for in years past.

He's a hand catcher with a good amount of quickness/shiftiness. There are very few hand catchers in the league. Even among greats, people like Terrell Owens were body catchers who leaned on physicallility and athletic ability. Randy moss was a hand catcher, as was Tony G, both paired with incredible physical attributes.
Moral of the story is that being a hand catcher can make up for a lack of athleticism, especially in traffic, and as a career progresses. Robinson seems to be a bit above average in the athletic ability department, and this combination bodes well if he can wrap his head around the game. |

I think at this point line up 4wr every play to help neutralize the amount of players they can put on the line. That should help them not be such shit

Says everything you need to know about the two QBs |
Robinson looked great last year in preseason. When Conley went down he had his chance and he was... well, he was what he was.
He's got skills, but he's got to put it together. At this point I don't care what he does in preseason. Get it done when the lights are on. |
I though he would be a first round pick at the beginning of his senior season. My mind was almost completely blown when he ran basically a 4.6 because he looks incredibly fast on the field. He’s got some great quickness.

500 yards receiving tops. Unless someone gets hurts. Just too many options on the team for him to get a huge amount of targets.
|
Before we added Sammy I was expecting him to come out and compete and win the #2 spot. He looks like a guy that could really contribute and have a hell of a year, or a very solid one at least. It's pretty obvious Pat will get the ball to whoever is open, and he seems to work his way open a ton.
|
I wonder if Veach will try to trade a WR for a CB or an OL before the year starts.
We have a ton of WR talent that will end up getting cut and lots of teams need WR talent. Maybe some of those teams in need have good prospects we can use at CB or OL. I’d trade Conley or Robinson for a good LG right now. |
