Black Mirror?
I haven't watched all of the episodes, but from what I have seen it's been great.
Watched White Christmas last night... and it's a doozy, but I highly recommend people give it a shot and since Black Mirror is an anthology series, you don't have to watch the previous season (though I think there are very minor background linkages among the episodes as things progress.) For the episode itself, you're in for a treat if you're a fan of a certain series lead from a certain period drama from AMC. I skipped around San Junipero from Season 3 after seeing Redditors rave about the episode and because of Mackenzie Davis. Great concept for a story and definitely worth viewing. I talked about USS Callister from Season 4 in the Star Trek thread and again I say that it's worth a watch. I was sold once I saw Cristin Milioti and Jimmi Simpson in the cast.. but Jesse Plemons ****ing knocked the episode out of the park. Hang the DJ... oh man. Maybe it's because of my age and the thematic matter of the episode, but **** that's a definite must recommend from my end. |
Great show overall. It can be a bit too topical at times which wont age well, and maybe a bit too deep in the social justice weeds, but I like the overwhelming creativity. This season wasnt bad, and I think Metalhead is the most underrated episode of the bunch.

its a fun ride, some eps great, others bad, but overall worth your time
|
Watched the very first episode, National Anthem, and thought it was the stupidest thing I'd seen in a long while. The entire premise was just so ridiculous and unbelievable, I didn't want to continue with the rest of the episodes. Painfully stupid and disgusting.
Synopsis, if you haven't seen it and don't care about spoilers:

I mean WTF? Maybe I’ll watch a different ep to see if this one was an outlier. |
One of my favorite shows. Every episode is a different story so I wouldn't get discouraged by the 1st show.
My favorites are: Shut up and Dance Playtest White Christmas Hang the DJ Black Museum Men Against Fire San Junipero is very thought provoking too even though I had to watch it 3 or 4 times to really appreciate it. |

A few posts later I also recommended that people NOT start with that episode. It’s the consensus among fans of the show to recommend newbies start somewhere other than S1E1. It’s a shame that they don’t just reorder the show because a lot of people really dislike the first episode. |

I thought the "Dog" episode was probably the weakest but the one set in the desert museum was probably the best. It had that Twilight Zone/Amazing Stories feel to it. I think it's probably the most consistently good series in the "Twilight Zone" genre of storytelling... |

BTW I still can’t understand a word they say in Peaky Blinders:cuss: |

I can't believe so many people hate the first episode, I thought it was hilarious
|
I liked the bees episode

If you don't like episode #1 then FU.

I've enjoyed Black Mirror. First heard about it on Reddit early last year. The first thing everyone says to someone going to watch the series for the first time - don't watch the first episode as your first one. There is no link between episodes, so you want watch whichever you want in any order. I'd advise giving it another shot watching something like White Christmas and going from there. |

Im in the minority here, I thought National Anthem was one of the better episodes and White Christmas was one of my least favorites. The Waldo one sucked.

Just watched "Men Against Fire", "Hated in the Nation" and "Be Right Back."
The former and the latter are worth watching and remind me that Black Mirror is more thematically related to the reboot of Outer Limits than it is a Twilight Zone. "Hated in the Nation" might be a bit heavy handed in narrative, but it has enough action and fast-paced enough to keep you entertained. The female lead's accent though.... yikes.. it's hard to get past that. How the **** do we have the same common ancestors yet can hardly understand what those Brit Islanders ****ing say?! |

Hopped on Netflix to check out Black Mirror due to this thread. LOL, it showed that at some point I had watched maybe 10 minutes of the 1st episode and turned it off. It must have been bad as I don't even remember starting it. Watched the 2nd episode and am now fully enjoying it.

That's what I took away from it... |
I'm already reading a lot of "It's SJW!" hate on the the last ep this season.
Bullshit. I'm the first to hate on SJW nonsense but that's bullshit. If you switch the sex and race of the protagonist and antagonist is it still a good story? Why, yes, it is. Do you gain something by keeping the sex/race the same for both? Is there a deeper meaning? Yes, there is. There's a huge difference between SJW nonsense and honest social commentary. I think this series gets that and doesn't dumb itself down... |

These marches have as much to do with women's rights as Westboro Baptists had to do with "glorifying God." |

Ok, so I tried to watch this again after being told the first episode was the culprit for people not liking it, and I got 30 minutes into watching some dude ride his bike and watch porn ads before being bored out of my ****ing mind and turning it off.
I really enjoyed Electric Dreams on Amazon for the most part, and I kinda get the impression that this is supposed to be a least a little similar, but I'm just not feeling it with this show. |

That's another rough one as an intro to the series although I personally enjoyed it. As others have said...White Christmas is the one to start with. But for you, I'd moreso suggest Metalhead, Men Against Fire and Playtest...then perhaps Hated in the Nation and Black Museum after that. |
This show is awesome. I thought White Bear and White Christmas were particularly ****ed up. When the agent cranked up the machine to 1,000 years per minute I got queasy.. The Entire History of You and San Junipero have been my favorites so far.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Omg. I'm in love. http://78.media.tumblr.com/de36d1fe6...2uhao3_500.gif |

That 80s retro was awesome. I’ve noticed I tend to love movies and shows with 80s themes, which is hilarious because I was born in ‘89. Seeing all those chips flashing in the hard drives while Heaven On Earth played.. so good. Probably the ‘happiest’ ending I’ve seen in a Black Mirror episode. |
New Black Mirror movie released today (Bandersnatch). It's interactive so you make a variety of choices yourself to take different paths. Haven't started yet but salivating. This show is beyond brilliant.
|
Watched the first episode last night, "The National Anthem", and it was a bit disturbing but still well done. I'm going to try to catch the S1E2 tonight.

Same here. But I started watching the choose your own ending show and it was kind of fun. |
Just finished Bandersnatch. That was pretty fun and pretty seamless actually.
I wonder how many endings this thing has? |
Alright you jokers on your recommendation I recently watched White Christmas. Not goofy like the pig ****er episode but not real uplifting either.
A while back I watched San Junipero (is that the name?). That was a damn good watch and let me know there are at least some episodes in this series that are for me. |
Quote:
i thought the new bandersnatch was groovy though. to me, it appears to have 3 or four endings? watching black mirror is like watching the twilight zone back in the day IMO :D |

I watched earlier episodes and the whole thing made me uneasy. Doubt I will revisit

I love how the implement the high tech in each episode and exaggerate it's abilities. This show is the shit.
"Nosedive" sucked. |

Interdasting. I assume you can watch multiple times and make multiple choices?... |

I think there is like 10 different endings? At some endings it lets you go back to an earlier decision point to start over. It’s pretty cool |

I got all 5 main endings, including a 5 star game review. |

by the way.....anyone else catch the easter eggs in bandersnatch?

|
Checked out Bandersnatch, very fun. I didn't really like how it made you choose some paths to advance in the story though. If they didn't want you to choose a certain path they shouldn't have offered it.
|
I have watched this 5-6 times now...it's hard to know quite how many because of the loops.
I think it is a great episode, definitely fits within the Black Mirror Universe... What worried me the most was the choose your own adventure aspect but they pulled it off quite brilliantly. |
