AFCCG Appearances by AFC West teams (1970-2017)
Raiders: 11
Broncos: 10 Chargers: 4 Chiefs: 1 Take from this what you will If anybody says we need to keep Alex Smith because he provides "stability" and Mahomes is "risky" or heaven forbid, that Chiefs fans are "ungrateful," show them these stats **** "playing it safe." And are Chief fans "spoiled?" "Ungrateful?" ROFL If we miss the playoffs during a developmental year, so be it. It'll be the same as it ever was, except this time we'll have a legit quarterback prospect. That being said we'll still have a good chance of making the postseason. Mahomes will have some weapons to throw to and the best offensive line he's ever seen in his life. |
I can't remember the last time SD was in the AFCCG... will have to look it up.

Wow ... 2007, totally forgot that one. I would have lost a lot of money on that guess.

Thank you sir, may I have another??
|
So, that means that since 1970, the Chiefs are the worst team in the division...
|
So...
OAK is 5-6 in AFCCGs with 3 SB wins (3-2 overall) DEN is 8-2 in AFCCGs with 3 SB wins (3-5 overall) |

Can't lose if you don't make it. Cleveland will continue to rise as Detroit and Cincy continue their playoff futility |

Another way to look at it though is SB winning percentage: 1) raid 3-2 = 60% 2) Chiefs 1-1 = 50% 3) broncs 3-5 = 37.5% 4) bolts 0-1 = 0.0% |

I realize that doesn't prove anything but that SB as well as a few games leading up to it i.e. Panthers/Falcons week 15 were shady as hell. |
This stat really shrinks down once you take into account more recent times. If the Pats or Steelers win the AFC again, it'll make 29 of the last 33 years that the Patriots, Broncos, Colts, Steelers, Ravens or Bills won the conference. I'm sure they've dominated the championship game appearances too. Of course it's sad we're even talking about appearances. I doubt anyone cares about that stat as much as the team that actually goes to the Super Bowl.

2015 was won fair and square, but Denver was lucky every other AFC contender was injury riddled. Crazy to think what a healthy Brown and Bell would have done in the divisional round... |

Rivers played with a blown out knee while LaLabia was on the sideline with a sprained vag.

No wonder this is the most sad and bitter website in existence.

Sounds about right. |
Am I the only one that's wants a new HC because our present coach will never get us there???
|
Interesting they do not include the entire S.B. era. It's bad enough with those stats included and terrible with out them.
|
Dam that makes me sad

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. It seems to me that it is an ownership issue. Hate ole Al all we want ... and a bunch of us did ... but, his drive to win enabled the Raiders to play in the "big" games. Our ownership seems to be content just with the appearance of success! |

Since 1990, the Steelers have had double digit wins 17 times... in 27 years. Model of consistency with the way that franchise is managed. Broncos, Patriots, Colts ... Elway, Brady, Manning - arguably 3 of the best to ever play the game. Bills had a string in the 90s, but have been irrelevant for decades and the Ravens, they've been solid the last two decades, but more because of defense - not elite QB play. They're the anomaly of the bunch. What happens when those elite QBs go away? Well, look at Denver, Indy and Baltimore now. |

Post merger we may as well be the Lions |
Seahawks 2 ;)
Edit. actually only 1 in the afc west. How about this Russel wilson playoff wins 8 KC Chiefs playoff wins 9 FTR, I was rooting hard for you guys! you were my only team left. |
Man the Bucs, Seahawks, and Panthers are all expansion teams. I think the Seahawks and the bucks came into the league in like 75. The Panthers around what 1995?
The Jags and the Texans haven't made it the one yet.... Or the new Browns. But the old Browns have won two Super Bowls. Heck even the Saints have won a Superbowl. They didn't win a playoff game in the league until like 2002 or something. |
