DJ's left nut 11-28-2017 02:37 PM

Good - to hell with Eli. He's an overrated, scowling twerp who's nothing but a media creation.

Now why they didn't trade him to the Jags a few weeks ago is beyond me.

Mile High Mania 11-28-2017 02:38 PM

See, NY can bench Eli "I have 2 SB rings and beat Tom Brady to get them" Manning... but Reid won't bench Alex. Denver will trade them 2 QBs and a R7 for Eli...

eDave 11-28-2017 02:38 PM

That's a really good point. I'd guess that the owners don't want to give up all that Eli merch sales.

If I was a weapon for the giants I would never want to play with him as my qb again.

I know I'm not known for my football knowledge, so overlook if you want. I'm all for trying something new, especially during a slump, but I can understand Reid's reasoning for keeping your veteran starter in whenever you are on top of your division (even if by only one game). The Giants really have nothing to lose by doing the switch at this point.

They lost their WRs very early this season for starters. I'm sure there's a laundry list of other things.

Dude sucks bawls. He's as bad as Alex Smith but in a completely different way.

I hope the Broncos continue down this path; keep on chasing retreads and hoping your defense can carry them. It worked really well for the chiefs the last 3 decades...

If they want to re-sign him they do. One would presume that decision is made at this point, but you still shitcan the possibility.

Also, they have draft position to lose. Chiefs wrecked that pretty well though.

Works out well... they pick someone like Lamar Jackson in the draft, then trade for Eli. Perfect combo. Move the other guys for whatever you can get, same with a 1/2 dozen other players.

wazu 11-28-2017 02:52 PM

Oh sure, leave Eli in to beat KC, then blow everything before playing the Raiders.

When they were up 2 games it was EXACTLY the time to consider pulling the trigger. They had a cushion to use and against 2 very beatable teams. He takes some lumps but probably keeps our heads above water and gets himself more battle tested for the key stretch against Oakland and SD.

Now if they lose at NYJ, he'll say the Raiders and Chargers games are divisional games that are too risky to put on the shoulders of a rookie quarterback with no experience.

It's no different than exercising - there's always an excuse not to do it if you're looking for one and Andy Reid is clearly looking for one. What you say is a reason not to bench Alex I would have called a perfect cause for doing precisely that.

So, yeah ... they did it with Peyton. Are you going back to the Plummer days, Orton or somehow counting Brock in that mix? Most everyone else (Griese, Cutler, Tebow, the guys there now) were draft picks.

Yep but the question is why. He wanted and drafted Mahomes so why doesn’t he want to play him this season?

Orton, Manning, and yes, Brock (though I will acknowledge that he was an emergency measure).

If they turn to Eli next, that would pretty firmly establish a trend, no? And I kinda feel like Elway's gonna be gunshy about pursuing another young QB after Lynch appears to have blown up on him.

yea Eli took their crap roster and won 2 games in a row against the Chiefs and Cowboys. Hes killing the FOs draft stock especially if hes not going to be there next year. Geno garuntees them more losses. Elis two wins probably knocks them out of a top 3 pick lol

That sort of thing keeps happening this year.

Carr comes back from a broken vertebrae in time for the Chiefs game, Zeke finally gets suspended after the Chiefs game (and will be out for the Raiders), 5-Pick Peterman gets benched before the Chiefs game (after gifting the Chargers a win), now this.

ALLAH hates us.

Bewbies 11-28-2017 03:09 PM

So Eli and Alex will be on the market next year? That should drive the price down in Jacksonville for whoever they pick...

I don't understand why they wouldn't just start Webb to see what they have, unless they think Geno could possibly be the guy. Which seems unlikely.

Well, the dragged in Orton with the Cutler trade (thanks Josh). Brock? Well, he was a draft pick and left for like 18 months. Weird deal. Trend? Nah.

Nope, never suggested that... just not a lot of retreads rolling through there as consistently as some might suggest.

And they shouldn't go after Eli - keep Trevor and take a top 10 guy, roll with that.

Giants are playing this smart, IMO. They know Eli gives them at least a CHANCE of winning every Sunday.

With Geno they literally have no shot. Tanking for draft position like a boss.

Another in a long line of disciplinarian coaches who isn't respected by his players.

The quarterback, Geno Smith, has a broken jaw and is expected to miss the next six to 10 weeks after Coach Todd Bowles said he was “cold-cocked, sucker-punched, whatever you want to call it” by Ikemefuna Enemkpali, who was quickly released.

I don't think so because it's pretty apparent that no matter what happens the rest of the season, McAdoo and Reese (and probably everyone else) is out in New York.

None of those guys will have anything to do with the 2018 draft.

And if word got out that Mara & Tisch are purposely tanking, I don't think that would go over too well with their fan base or the NFL office.

BryanBusby 11-28-2017 05:31 PM

Giants fans are mostly entitled ****s and should get their feathers ruffled a little.

It's an odd deal that the Maras are allowing this.

TimBone 11-28-2017 05:47 PM

Looking at their IR list, and at the names of the assholes they trotted out at receiver against the Chiefs, it's even more amazing that the Chiefs lost to them.

This benching is all about keeping the Raiders afloat...there is no reason to sit Manning against that terrible pass defense. What do you think the Giants hope to accomplish...Geno adding a spark? Oakland will be without both WRs....this just even-outs the AFCW tiebreakers.

This is a bizarre move...
