News that won't shock you: Nick Foles Hitting the Street
Per ESPN:
The Kansas City Chiefs plan to decline Nick Foles option for the 2017 season, which will make the quarterback an unrestricted free agent, a source confirmed to ESPN. NFL Network first reported the news of the Chiefs' plan. The Chiefs will free up $6.75 million in salary-cap space by parting with Foles. Foles, 28, joined the Chiefs last year as a free agent after being released by the Los Angeles Rams. He played in three games for Kansas City, starting one. He threw for 410 yards and three touchdowns. He played three seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles and one for the Rams before joining the Chiefs. The Eagles' third-round pick in 2012, Foles started five games that season and in 2013 had one of the more remarkable quarterback seasons in NFL history. Foles threw 27 touchdown passes with just two interceptions in leading the Eagles to the playoffs. The quality of Foles' play declined drastically in 2014 and after that season Foles was traded to the Rams as part of the deal that also involved quarterback Sam Bradford. Foles played poorly for the Rams before being benched late in the season. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...k-foles-option |

Glennon is signing for $15M. Foles should be worth at least $8M.

I guess that means we are drafting a QB for they think Bray can handle the #2
|
This does surprise me, actually, for all of the reasons discussed. Either Bray is learning faster than we thought or they're going to draft a quarterback or both. Unless maybe they see some backup on the market who's a better deal, and I'm not sure who that would be.

Would like to sign Foles, then sign Romo. Cut Smith.
Win Super Bowl if Romo doesn't die. If Romo dies, start Foles and have same result as this year. Just get pwned at home in the playoffs losing to FGs. But lets keep riding with Smith! |

He was released which cleared $6.75M in cap. |
What is a voided contract?

I'm still trying to figure out how Foles missed a wide open Tyreek Hill by 4 yards on a 5 yard slant that was a sure touchdown. I've been watching football for a long time, and that was the single worst forward pass that I've ever seen. I was kind of on board with him being our backup until I saw that pass.
|
1 year deal + option
1 year deal expired. Chiefs allowed him to become a UFA as the window to pick up the option expired either Thursday or yesterday..... Still think Chiefs can use him in the formula. |
Quote:
http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/d...plainer-090716 It's a manipulation of the salary cap to prorate the bonus over an extended period beyond the true life of the contract. So it probably says something like the contract is voided if he's on the roster by some random date or something stupid like that. |

Alex Smith out of college had about *in terms of madden* a 86-88 Throwing power. After his injury.. down to about 82. Prob once he rotates his body.. some of those muscle fibers/nerves fail him or don't work how they used too.
|
We'll always have the second half of the Colts game to remind us what a deep TD pass to a Chiefs WR looks like.
So long Nick |

And no, my disdain for Smith is pretty real. There have been 2 moments where I have actually liked Smith: 1.) When I went to Arrowhead for the first time ever in 2010 and the Chiefs killed the 49ers...the Moeaki crazy catch in the endzone day. I was so happy that I witnessed such pants-crappage which helped the Cassel-led Chiefs destroy the Smith-led 49ers... I liked Smith that day. I couldn't believe I witnessed a QB, with my own eyes, who appeared to be worse than Cassel...didn't think it was possible. 2.) I liked him when the 49ers beat the Saints in the Divisional round of the playoffs. I thought it was touching...such a limited prag of a QB actually defying logic and securing the win on that final drive. I thought it was a touching underdog story, but was glad as hell that the Chiefs weren't strapped to him. Glad he wasn't OUR QB. Ugh...Ok...ok...to be fair. 3.) I admit, I was pretty happy with him after the 2016 Chargers comeback game. Was nice to see some fire from him. Besides those moments...It has frustrated the living hell out of me that he is our QB. |

However, it didn't, for one second make me feel happy with the fact that Smith is our QB. Our 49 yards total offense in the first half was still fresh on my mind. |

So essentially, you are the troll.. fishing for attention by pushing buttons. Need a hug? |
Quote:
I make these comments because it pisses me off to no end that the Chiefs are wasting their/our time with Smith given the unbelievably talented guys on our roster. Not lonely...at all. Bored? Yeah. I'm bored quite a bit, but things are ok. I have things to keep me occupied in my life. I would say the best way to describe me at this phase, whether it be my feelings regarding the Smith-Chiefs or regarding certain aspects of my life in general would be; annoyed, bitter, frustrated, angry and hopeless blended with some apathy. |
... but we know this about you already, Rico. It's redundant. I guess it somehow eases your pain to utter the same ole shit on a forum? and take shots at other people that don't share in your precise level of QB disgust?
Well rock on, fella. Whatever you have to do.. just know that the troll in the glass house is.. in fact, you. |
Quote:
You and a couple other dipshits that believe in Smith express your belief on this forum. The rest of us that recognize that Smith is a sorry sack of shit express that here as well. There is no trolling. There is only debate between two sides that will never agree. |
I'm not the one here who brought up trolling, nor do I really GAF about trolling. I know it will never really end on CP, and accept it for what it is.
I'm simply calling it as I see it, and pointing out the irony of rico calling -king- a troll in this thread. |

But that won't stop people like you trying to tell us how fortunate we are to have the great Alex Smith who can't even break into the top 20 in passing offense. But but but... Its not Alex, it's the scheme! If that's the case and the Chiefs are so unreliant on the QB then ****ing cut him and let some backup WR run the wildcat full time and bring Poe back with the money you saved to throw TDs. This is a passing league and you are going to need something beyond a peewee mindset under center and Alex's helmet is still to big for his scared little brain. |
So you're saying the disdain for
Smith is justified but supporting him and the current regime for giving us one of the most successful NFL teams the past 4 seasons is unjustified thus is trolling. Your logic sounds stupid as ****. It's like being a Trump supporter in the real world, openly do it and you'll be publicly shamed |
"One of the most successful teams." 1 playoff win in 4 years. 1 playoff win in 24 years... Here's your participation ribbon.
**** off and die. |

ILC posted that he was holding tight to a couple passes Foles made in the Colts game to remind him what the very concept of a long pass in a Chiefs uniform looks like. -K- asserted that Smith has made better and longer throws than those particular throws ILC is cherishing. You misinterpreted that observation to be an assertion of something along the lines of every deep pass Smith has ever attempted has been superior to any Foles pass. Same dynamic as always. Someone says something hyperbolic about Smith. Someone else points out hyperbole. Smith-haters accuse those who oppose hyperbole of pure blind unsurpassed agape love of any and everything Alex. |
