Better to be lucky than good....

The Chiefs were lucky to beat the Jags. That's just plain and simple. A dropped INT on a Foles duck, dropped INT by the Chiefs in the end zone to prevent a Jax score, an iffy call that could have been ruled a TD but was ruled a fumble by Jax, wide WIDE open receivers missed by Bortles....

For the most part Jax outplayed KC on both sides of the ball. They ran all over our defense and had guys open deep all game long. The Chiefs made some key stops when they absolutely had too but they were lucky to walk away with a win this game.

Nick Foles is not better than Smith. So let's just end that talk now. He looked like a statue in the pocket, missed wide open guys for scores and didn't see open receivers. I know, no Ware, Maclin and eventually Kelce hurts. But you can tell his accuracy is not even close to what Smith's is. He did make a nice pass to Wilson for our 1 TD of the day.

All day long the Chiefs, particularly the defense played with their head in the clouds. Multiple penalties, terrible tackling and rather unimpressive coverage on special teams.

A win is a win is a win. I would rather be lucky than good but the fact is, we were not good today. We were lucky.

We have shown no sign on offense to turn this around so I highly doubt it

Let's list all the breaks that went the other way.

With that said we were lucky

i don't care much about that. There can be multiple reasons for that. If you're outgained like that but are still winning it usually means you are getting good starting field position, playing good defense and giving up garbage time yards.

I would like to see us not cut it so close in games we should be running away with. Against Bress I get it. Against Bortles I don't.

You do realize we had backups at QB, RB, TE for awhile and no WR1....We led the entire game and the jags had like 4-5 turnovers. That's not being outplayed on both sides of the ball.

Broncos won the super bowl after winning multiple games like this and they never had to deal with injuries in one game like this.

Pretty sure a lot people on here need to stfu and enjoy the win. We were fortunate to get a bad team at home when we had so many injuries and come out with a win.

Sorry. We were lucky. These games happen. But you can't pretend we were good today because we really weren't. That doesn't mean we aren't a good team. Today though, we weren't very good. And if you listen to the players after the game, especially on defense, you will hear the same.

Everyone is actin like we should have won 63-0 with a second string Chiefs team in. Jags have talent on both sides of the ball. We won as we should have in a way that was expected for as banged up as we were.

**** off, Pete. That's complete bullshit.

The Chiefs won, fair and square, despite starting their 3rd & 4th string RB, their 2nd string LG, losing Maclin early, losing Kelce and starting a 2nd string QB.

That's not luck, dipshit.

Sure but again most teams lose this game with a back up QB, RB, no WR1, and no Kelce for a good chunk of the game. What did you expect?

Our defense isn't that banged up. We got worked over on the ground and lucky Bortles missed guys that were so open down field they might as well have been on vacation.

Today was a fine example of why turnovers are absolute killers. People can ***** all they want about Smith's conservative play but the philosophy he brought here from Harbaugh is single handedly the most important reason this Chiefs team went from 2 wins to playoff contenders each year.

I agree. I think Charles is done. Though we will see what we got in him next year. If he is healthy he still has a spot on this team.

PunkinDrublic 11-06-2016 06:44 PM

Good teams force turnovers. If anything Jacksonville is lucky this team is injury riddled or the game would've been over a lot sooner.

We easily would have been in the playoffs in that 2014 season had our defense not botch at least 10+ interceptions that could have been ours. That Oakland game where we lost was so damn frustrating. The ref did screw us awarding them a full set of downs on a very suspect PI call...but there were so many chances for us to put them away.

Good teams force turnovers and on offense they are ball hogs. People get all worked up about when we have to punt the ball and de-value the field position game we play. It's why we pay so much for our punter and why on 3rd down and long Smith isn't going to throw up a stupid pass and doesn't care to take a sack on our own 40 yard line.

As Harbaugh preached...every single drive should end with 1 of 3 types of kicks: punt, field goal, or a PAT.

Broncoesque win

Chief Northman 11-06-2016 06:59 PM

I am happy the defense is opportunistic, but chances are that trend cannot last given the amount of yards the defense is surrendering.

One thing not talked about much is the absence of Mike DeVito along the D line. He was arguably the best run defender we had. I like how this young secondary plays, and the more second and third and longs you can give them the more opportunistic they become. Ivory gashed the Chiefs D, and often on 1st down. That needs cleaning up for certain.

I don't know how many times they missed a tackle on Ivory but that's definitely something that is going to have to be worked on.

The Chiefs got the W today and yes that's great. But there is definitely a lot of things that will be addressed this week in practice.

Every good team needs a lucky win or 2 during the year when everything goes to crap for whatever reason. A "lucky" win can be the difference between in/out of the playoffs or home field and a bye versus the long road through the playoffs. The Chiefs had a bad one at Houston but make up for it today. Another week to improve and keep working. Could've been a lot worse.

MahiMike 11-06-2016 07:28 PM

Let's just call it what it is. The Chiefs saw a horrible opponent and thought they would roll over. What they got was an inspired team ready to kick some butt.

Had this been the Raiders/Broncos, you would have seen more from our guys.

No.

The Chiefs have had some good games and some bad games, but it's rare when they win a game this ugly.

They generally play well enough in wins that they looked like the team that should have won.

They sucked big balls in this game.

If they weren't playing a hapless team, they would have lost, and should have lost this game.
