Knile Davis

Chiefs resign Knile Davis. Will he be active?

welcome back, long time no see bro! :D

jjchieffan 11-05-2016 03:07 PM

Yeah. I saw that. The article also said that David King was promoted to the active roster. Jordan Devey was cut for King, Ehinger was put on IR. I thought Ehinger went on IR on Tuesday?

BlackHelicopters 11-05-2016 03:09 PM

So is Davis on the PS?

JoeyChuckles 11-05-2016 03:09 PM

Is this the most moves the Chiefs have ever made during a week? I can't keep up with everything.

King_Chief_Fan 11-05-2016 03:10 PM

Smart move given the current situation....plus we got a pick for him
Yes?

Nope. Didn't meet the conditions of the trade.

Not once they released him.

The teams have never actually said what we got for him, but most seem to think that it would have been conditional and that his being cut so soon would mean we got nothing for him.

if knile produces, then the chiefs have to surrender a pick of their own :D

Meh

Kniles will be fine.

Pretty much.

How many times was Davis cut this last week alone? Chiefs trade him, Packers cut him, Jets sign him, then immediately cut him. Did a leg fall off or something?

However, it is rather fortuitous that he was kind of just sitting there. Chiefs needed a running back in the worst way and voila! Knile Davis, who was just like on the team playing for the Chiefs for the past three seasons, is just sitting there and available. You don't ever get that lucky with a player when you desparately need one.

Dorsey is one lucky sonofabitch.

I hope Davis runs mad. And holds onto the ball like his future depends upon it. Because it most likely does.

Nickhead 11-05-2016 03:27 PM

i wonder if he will have any issues relearning the playbook? :D

Easy 6 11-05-2016 03:45 PM

His head must literally be spinning, crazy couple weeks for the poor guy... welcome back, Knile!

Otter 11-05-2016 03:50 PM

It just might be a wake up call for the guy. It concerns me that GB cut him so quickly but sometimes when your 25 years old you need a scare to know what you're losing. Maybe this was his.

Hang onto the rock sunshine!

TimeForWasp 11-05-2016 03:52 PM

Probably cheaper too.

jjchieffan 11-05-2016 03:59 PM

I wonder about the salary cap implications. I don't know what he was making before, but I know that veterans are guaranteed their full salary for the year if on the opening day roster. I would assume that the Chiefs liability for that ended with the trade and the Packer's ended when the Jets claimed him. I would think that since they claimed him off waivers, that the Jets are paying his old salary for the rest of the year and anything we signed him for is above and beyond. I would imagine that they probably got him for league minimum, so it should be a net gain for the Chiefs if my assumptions are correct.

Good grief, really?

Davis isn't a 4 year vested veteran, so no, his contract was not guaranteed because he was on the Week 1 roster. When he was traded, his salary was off the books. Green Bay paid for a few weeks, then cut him. The Jets had him on the roster for less than a day, so they owed him nothing.

The Chiefs likely signed him to a $600k per year deal, which is normal for a 4th year player but they'll only owe him a Pro Rata share. So if he's on the roster on Sunday, the Chiefs would owe him $37,500.00 dollars with the maximum being $337,500 for the remainder of the season.

That won't even crack the Top 51.

jjchieffan 11-05-2016 04:19 PM

Oh. that rule only applies to 4 year vested veterans? I wasn't aware of that. I guess I should have looked it up. Thanks for clearing that up.

This. What a wake up call this guy got. Just think about having to relocate your home 3 times in 3 weeks. I'm glad he's back and I don't really know why. But if Hill were to get hurt he'd sure be nice to have around.

jjchieffan 11-05-2016 04:25 PM

I doubt that he relocated his home to the Jets. He wasn't there long enough. His tenure for the Jets was about as short as Bill Belicheck's tenure as head coach for the Jet's

I'd imagine he just rented a furnished apartment in GB.

BossChief 11-05-2016 05:01 PM

I bet he fumbled a couple times each day in practice and GB and NY were like NAH...

I hope he doesn't play any significant time for us. I'm not sure he's had more than a game or two where he was counted on and didn't fumble.

Add to that he has tunnel vision, isnt decisive and isn't a physical runner and one has to wonder how desperate KC had to be to bring him back.

They are desperate because we really only have one back. Sanka coffee doesn't know the playbook yet. Has Reeves been called up from the PS ? Or is he hurt as well?

I thought he looked decent in pre-season at least to fill in for 10-15 carries against the Jags.

Rasputin 11-05-2016 05:23 PM

Knile Davis needs to quit thinking he is a Dante Hall caliber return man. He needs stop trying juke and run wrong way trying avoid tackles. Just run strait forward and run over people and hang onto the damned ball.

rtmike 11-05-2016 06:05 PM

Hopefully it's only until Ware comes out of concussion protocol and Reeves injury gets better.

WR Brandon Marshall played safety in college, not RB, so that rumor's put to bed, lol.

MMXcalibur 11-05-2016 06:38 PM

Excited to see what this guy can do.
Can't believe the Packers and Jets let him go!

We've seen what he can do the good the bad and the ugly. Hope he reverts back to the good because his bad is ugly.

THE PRODIGAL SON RETURNS!!!!!

Easy 6 11-05-2016 09:47 PM

Considering the situation we find ourselves in, I'm really glad he was available

I'd like to hope this little nightmare he just went through sparks something in him and we get a better runner than the one who got traded... if not, he is still a solid receiver out of the backfield and can still be an exciting returner

lewdog 11-05-2016 10:02 PM

I always thought Knile had the talent to be a big play type of back. Nothing super special but decent enough to get 8-10 touches a game and do some good things and make some big plays. Sadly, he just doesn't have it and the fumbling is a never ending issue.

I'll never forget his opening return TD against the Texans though. That was pretty special.

In58men 11-05-2016 10:06 PM

He will be used on the goal line. We'll make his stock rise and trade him again lol.

if knile was given the snaps dee ford has gotten, i would bet he would get progressively better. fumbles aside. it is unfortunate that a fumble is way worse than a missed sack, or giving up outside containment.

curious though, i wonder which franchise has the most td returns off punts and kickoffs? :D

if it were not for the fumbles, like i stated, you cannot say he would not have gotten better. if the chiefs didn't have ware and west, and only knile, you could bet he would get great yards. just would he have held onto the ball is the question.

so, based on the current data, you are correct. had he gotten more snaps, you could never know.

Incorrect. He can't read the right hole to save his life and never developed the quickness needed to burst off big plays.

Right.

He has no vision or patience.

You might be able to teach patience, but you can't teach vision.

I don't think he's a very good goal line back. He's got size, but he isn't a power runner and he doesn't have the Marcus Allen knack for finding a crease as far as I can tell.
