Ace Young on the hill. Let's go.

In for the battle of aces

Chris Young and his .289 opponent OPS. Let's go!
|
Today is George Brett's Birthday. Kick some Yankee ass tonight for GB!
|
We caught the Rangers when they were playing their best baseball of the season. Splitting that series was perfectly acceptable. The Yankees are in a mini slump, only scoring 5 runs in their last three games. Tonight is a tough match up but we ought to take two of three in this series.
|
I'm amazed the line vs Pineda is only +113, especially when we are throwing our long guy who hasn't had much success vs them in the past.

well everyone pretty much thinks the Yankees are going to fall off and finish around .500 this year ... so ...
here is what they have: Ellsbury and Gardner have been just about the best 1 - 2 hitters in baseball this year. Then, they have Rodriguez/Teixiera/McCann/Beltran who are K or HR hitters ... I think they all hit around .230 ... but if they hit it, it is usually hit hard. They have a pretty subpar starting rotation ... but then they have a Royals-esque 8th/9th inning bullpen ... if they are leading in the 8th ... the game is over. Betances / Miller is probably an even better combo than Davis / Holland (unless Holland starts throwing 95-96 again) ... and even then, they are flat out unhittable (especially Miller). Now, with Betances, he has some command issues ... but that won't be a problem with the Royals ... because we swing at everything. Let's put it this way ... if the game is tied after 7 ... expect a lot of extra inning baseball between the Yanks / Royals. |
I actually almost look forward to the Royals hitting against Betances/Miller so I can see Pete lose his cool because the Royals are swinging and missing at balls ... or looking at strikes ... etc...
Betances 20 IP 0 ER 31 K's Miller 16.2 IP 0 ER 29 K's 36.2 IP 0.00 ERA 60 K's For reference, HDH have a combined 35 strikeouts in 40 innings. |
Who's the dude that puts the weather radar on? Lots of rain around Kansas City today
|
Yeah the Yankees bullpen is tough. They are putting up disgusting numbers. These might be 5 or 6 inning games. I'm looking forward to the matchup though.

Future Hall of Famer ARod in town
Cherish it folks |
I don't care what Yankees backend of bullpen has done in the short term, I'll take HDH over anybody.

But this isn't a short term thing for Betances and Miller. They both pwned last year, too. Last year's best relievers were Holland, Davis, Betances and Miller in the AL. |

this is usually pretty accurate when I do DFS
http://dailybaseballdata.com/cgi-bin/weather.pl looks like there is about a 20% chance of rain for the entire game + 3 hours after ... should be ok |
Yeah, the forecast that looked dicey this morning has significantly improved. I guess the storm system blew through more quickly than they expected

They did light up Zach Britton, the O's closer, though. |

Think we'll manage to get through a game without a ****ing error for once?
|
Lineups are out. Usual lineup for us today, with Orlando in right
|
Shouldn't be too much longer on Rios' return, right? Maybe a week or two? Last I heard was he was taking swings off of a tee IIRC.
|
We've just got to get some good hits on the Pineda and the whole thing will bust open. It'll be sweet!!!

Interested to see if the K is less Yankee-fan infested this weekend.

Way to work around the triple CY
|
I think it's hilarious that Young can pipe down 85 MPH fastballs and the hitters just can't pick them up
fascinating |
CY SHUTS THEM DOWN
|
all we gotta do is get Jacoby and Gardner out and we'll be ok ...

Point is, in looking at Tex's 11 HR's, I'm telling my wife that when you play a shit ton of games in yards like Baltimore and Boston it's a lot easier to have 11 HR's. If Gordon, Hos and Moose played in the AL East I would bet they would be close to if not in double digits already. I mean we haven't really played in a small park yet this year. |
