Cleveland and Detroit are both in early games today as well so if all goes as planned we will be 5.5 back of Detroit and 0.5 up on Cleveland once our game is over.

I'd think he can, he is decent at short and projects well defensively at second.

GMDM pretty much said he wasn't brining him up during a playoff race. That was either yesterday or the day before when he had an interview with 610 sports.

He was asked if the 2B of the future was currently on the team and he said he could be and that he knew fans wanted Colon or Gio back up but that he didn't want to do that during this playoff race.

I heard that and disagree completely. We have replacement level guys in the minors and below replacement level guys starting. The object is to play guys who can help us win now, not guys who could have helped us win 3 years ago.

The young guys might play poorly like the current ones, or they might play out of their heads.

If we had a 5 game lead I could see the reason for taking the safe route. We need to make up games, I think we should go with the higher ceiling option.

Maybe they aren't saying much because they're trying to acquire a 3B via trade, although there aren't many options out there.

DL Moose and -- I agree with Sure-Oz -- sign Mark Reynolds. He sucks, but he might get lucky and hit a HR or two.

You're probably going to see EJ instead of Carrol against RHP. Carrol's BA against RHP is real bad. EJ is a swith hitter (which doesn't make much difference since he can't hit anything). Not many options for the infield on the 25 man roster. As has been mentioned already, I'd consider bringing up someone from Omaha.

Losing Tejada sucks, but this is a very winnable game, and we could make up some more ground today (fortunately we didn't lose any except to Cleveland, who is losing.)

The Royals are -225 today, that is a huge spread for the lineup we are trotting out there.

I think they figure the odds of us scoring two runs are much better today and the odds of us winning with only two runs are probably about 80-90%.

Most SP are most vulnerable in the first inning than any other time (at least until fatigue becomes an issue). But Santana didn't pitch that badly that inning.
