Goodbye Glenn Dorsey
Pro Football Weekly @ProFootballWkly
RT @AdamSchefter: And 49ers have reached agreement with former Chiefs DT Glenn Dorsey. |
He'll probably turn into the next Justin Smith now.
|
This town wasn't big enough for two Dorseys.
|
Watch all the heads explode in this thread.
We've known for an entire year he was going to walk. Most people here were at peace with that if we could retain Bowe and Albert. But now that he's actually out the door... zomg chiefs fail!1! |
watch him explode with Willis and the Smiths surrounding him
|
Run right at him. That's where the hole is.

Bring him in for a look?...awwww too late.
|
We should have traded him straight up for A Smiff and saved those picks.
|
fail
|
Dorsey, Jackson, Baldwin....wow we really struck gold with our 1st round selections under Pioli. Jesus ****ing a polar bear....
|
Heh. He walks & they sign him with no trade.
See how that works guys??? |
Meh, just another in a long line of DL busts KC has taken over the years. Would liked to have seen what he would do in a new scheme but alas.

I wonder how much he signed for.
Probably not much of a chance for a compensatory considering we signed DeVito. |
KC got his better knee years.

What's truly interesting about this will be to see how he does as a NT.
Pioli and his coaches were way too damn stubborn to shift him to NT in our scheme. It would thrill me to no end to watch him kick ass and take names as a NT out there. At that point we get to add yet another fail to Scott's ever-growing list. |

Regardless of who drafted him - ****! :# |

Cant say that i'm all that tore up about it, but he was a drama free guy who always seemed to give good effort, so i wish him well.
Moving on... |

He is going to be really good in that defense. It was unfair to him to have him run the 2 gap system when he isn't geared for it.

I wish we could have watched him play his natural position for more than his rookie season.
|
Welllll........Bye

49ers will win the Superbowl next year
|
Help me out here; has KC ever drafted a DL (DT or DE) worth a crap since Neil Smith?

I hate that Dorsey never really panned out. He was a big, strong, athletic guy. What a waste.
|
That's a shame, but not unexpected.

Gee, I wonder if the Falcons regret "Reaching" for a QB at No. 3 rather than taking the consensus "Best Player Available" in Glenn Dorsey...

3rd round comp pick? Not a bad return for the 5th pick overall. :banghead:
|
I remember his draft day....CP thought he was the savior to the Franchise.
Another Chief that never won a Post-Season game. :thumb: |

Damn I miss those. |

I bet he rapes as a 49er. The Chiefs continue their mission on making the 49ers the best team in football.
|
what chaps my ass is, not that he's gone but the only hole or opening on that 49ers defense is at the NT position. He's not starting over McDonald or Smith at the DEs, and their one NT just signed with Philly and the other is still on the market. So they signed Dorsey to play NT? And sold him on playing NT? Which means he's been open to playing NT in a 34?
And if he even shows a hint of talent at it, that means we wasted four years having the NT on our roster the whole time. |

Too early to write Poe off (and he did show flashes last year) but otherwise its been bust after bust. |
I think Dorsey is going into a great situation, and he'll probably blossom in SF with much better coaching that he's gotten in KC.

the DeVito signing ruins everything lol

Like I said, I really really hope he rapes faces as a NT in San Francisco just to prove how utterly ****ing hopeless Scott Pioli is. The man did literally nothing well. |
their front 7 might be
McDonald - Dorsey - Smith Brooks - Willis - Bowman - Smith sickening |

The 49ers should win multiple SBs over the next 5 years. They're insanely loaded. |

good. with shrimp scampi.

Where the **** is this NT shit coming from?
Everywhere I've seen it has Dorsey basically backing up either DE spot in SF. Ian Williams would be next up for the NT job in SF. |
Dorsey is basically a near-elite (on a good day definitely elite) run stopper.
And he's going to be a rotational guy for them. JFC |

Soapoaga was good at holding the point as a NT, but didn't make plays. I know Dorsey was an end for some reason at KC, but how was his bull rushing ability and how did he hold up against double teams? |
Another jersey in the crapper. Always liked Dorsey for some reason, even though he never lived up to potential. Seemed like a genuine good teammate & hard worker.
|
they are going to platoon Dorsey with Ian like they did with Soapoaga and RJF because it brings versatility to their 1 gap.
he's not going to be strictly a 2nd string DE on the off chance Smith or McDonald get hurt he will get snaps at DE, NT and I think they want to try him at a 1 gap penetrator, something the Chiefs never did because the regime was terrible. |
Held up good on double teams, no pass rush at all
|
Dorsey doesn't give you a pass rush. At all.
He's good at holding the point. |
Quote:
Hopefully he can develop into a play-maker. We have one of the best Defensive line coaches in the league, Jim Tomsula and sometimes change is good for a player. It will help to be surrounded by Justin Smith, Patrick Willis, Navarro Bowman and Aldon Smith, who are all 1st team All-Pro. |
So....Sedrick Ellis or Glenn Dorsey?
/signed, CP 2008 draft hype... |
