Chiefs on verge of a deal with Andy Reid (merged)
I just saw it on his Facebook status...

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Plot thickens: Before arriving in Arizona tonight, Andy Reid will interview today in Philadelphia with the KC Chiefs, via @mortreport. |

About time Clark interviews a legit candidate.
|
woah...nice
Clark should show up with a variety taco 12 pack from taco bell |
I wouldn't mind him too much although I still prefer that we go with a young college coach or a coordinator who have never been HCs before.
|
Please, Clark, make him an offer so good that he accepts it on the spot.
Then fire Pioi tomorrow. |
so Hunt is going to Philly.....A kiss stealing, wheeling dealing, jet flying, limosine riding, son of a gun

Reid is no dummy. Stop and take a look at 'serious offers' before he goes to visit with the job he really wants. Drive up his price and maybe his conditions.
Hoping for the best as I like Reid but I think of him as a fairer skinned Romeo. Not sure we need that in KC right now. Something between players coach and Todd Haley would be most welcomed. A coach with NFL experience is also a must. |
At least he never won that super bowl.

I thought Clark was in Atlanta today???

I don't want a newbie coach that has no NFL head coach experience this time around... I want a proven winner that has been through the crap before but still hasn't won that title yet. We can't afford to have someone learning on the job this time around. I'm all for Andy Reid!
Saying Reid and Crennel in the same breath may be the most stupidest thing that will be said on this board today!!!! |

Not a fan of Reid, but whatever.
This might be legit, but with Clark it is surprisin that it got leaked. My guess is that Bob Lamonte might be leaking the news to get Arizona serious and start a bidding war... |
Already talked to Koetter apparently and now he is thankfully off the board!
Alex Marvez @alexmarvez #Falcons OC Dirk Koetter has signed contract extension 2 stay. Met with KC yday about HC gig. @FOXSports.com story: http://on-msn.com/WkDUTT |

Still one of the dumbest things I've read lately. |

Reid is fat and jolly so he must be just like Romeo!
Ignore the 130 ****ing wins! |

Good job Clark. |
I like it.

Peoli was in Atlanta with Hunt yesterday. Boooooooooooooo

All I can think of when I think of Reid is his doofy face every time he mismanages the clock at the end of a game.
I get that he's been around the block, and he had 11 winning seasons in 14, and made the NFC championship game every year, but something about him rubs me the wrong way. I guess I'd still take him, especially if it means Pioli is fired as a result. |
Andy Reid - 39th all time in winning percentage, 23rd all time in total wins!
Romeo Crennel - 142nd in total wins, 148th in wins (out of 159 coaches). IDENTICAL!!!! |

According to Mortenson, Pioli WAS in Atlanta yesterday participating in the interview with Koetter. Does not have any confirmation that Pioli is part of the Reid interview, though.
He is suggesting that Pioli was part of the Koetter interview because he would have been a 1st-time head coach and that relationship would have required more input from Pioli. If it's Andy Reid, Pioli will likely be gone. |
Pioli was with Clark yesterday interviewing Koetter??? WTF flying F**K????

Hell that would have meant we were still in the ballgame at the end.
|
Who gives a **** about his demeanor...he wins. And he does it with offense.
He's Mike Shanahan with a mustache and 200 lbs added... |

It may have very well been a "we scheduled this and we're going to honor it, even though you have no shot at the job, Dirk" kind of thing. That notion is bolstered by the fact that Koetter interviewed and then IMMEDIATELY signed a contract extension to remain a coordinator. If he though he had ANY shot at KC or any other HC job, he wouldn't have done that. |
Quote:
Actually, he's on the list of coaches I'd like to see here given the list of those available and interested. I'm just not sure he's the right fit. But then the coaches I think would be a better fit won't or don't want to come to KC. |

At least Reid isn't a pussy, and ALL of the players that played at Philly tanked horrifically on their new team.
He actually coaches players up! |

What happened to the Ferentz thing? Wasnt he supposed to interview with KC today?
|
I was never excited about the Cowher or Gruden options (if they ever were options) but if we don't go with a someone who is up and coming I like the Reid option. They consistently won yet never won the super bowl which is good for the whole "coach has never won it in two places" thing.
|
Reid would be wise to take a sabbatical similar to what Jeff Fisher did, it seems to have worked for him.

Quote:
I bet Pioli set it up before Clark castrated him, so Clark honored it out of professional courtesy. |
Quote:

Oh ya, he has succeeded in tough division.

If we get him, his most important hire will be D coordinator. After Jimmy Johnson died, Reid’s teams tanked.
|
Jason Cole @JasonColeYahoo
Educated guess here based on talks with many: If Reid gets KC job, Pioli power diminishes or fired. Also, think Reid is using AZ as leverage |
Clark Hunt needs to sell this team that has the #1 pick of the draft to build up. Sell #1 pick a QB & start fresh.
|
Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora
To those with the immediate question of what would Andy Reid in KC mean for Scott Pioli - it would mean a new GM |
Quote:

Wow. I haven't allowed myself to actually think Andy Reid would be the next coach of the Chiefs. We went to him. Holy shit. If we can get him, I'm all in. Proven ****ing winner. Great with QB's, and Pioli is out the ****ing door. Triple win!

So on to the next on the list - I wonder if Reid has legitimate interest, or if he's just driving the price up on Arizona? |

He flatly said KC is a better job than Arizona, especially because of the fans and atmosphere. On a side note, Mortenson just made some commentary about this news cycle and how crazy it is. He went out of his way to mention that he (and others in his position) have to be careful about the motives of their sources because they get USED all the time to advance an agenda rather than the actual news. |
For sake of conversation, who is the GM if Andy Reid is hired?
All reports indicate Tom Heckert won't be following AR this time around. Thoughts? |
If htismaqe is right, wouldn't we have had authorization to see him, & if we did, wouldn't we know about it? Maybe we did, but I don't know that for sure.

We could do a lot worse than Andy Reid. Guy's good at building a team but blows at in-game decisions.
