Mellinger: One play symbolizes the Chiefs’ lost season

Mellinger has teeth.

He actually thinks Cassel is better?
I mean, they both suck. They're not discernible. |

In the long run, if Quinn got up to speed, he might be a slight improvement. Hard to judge a guy when the running game is ass. |
At the very least, the Chiefs did embarrass themselves in new ways on Sunday. They’ve been telling anyone who’d listen that turnovers are their biggest problem — it’s all turnovers; just take care of the ball — but here they played even on turnovers against one of the NFL’s (other) worst teams and lost by four touchdowns. A defense that had shown promising signs gave up more than nine yards per play against what had been the league’s 30th-ranked offense.

I hate this team.

The Bears defense could blow out our offense. Betcha. |
Ah, I have been wondering when people would start discussing the coaching. No big surprise, really. Crennel was an uninspired, and uninspiring, hire from the get go. It is exactly what one should expect when you hire a head coach who is trying to decide between "millionaire estates" and "countryside acres."
|
Only 1 play? Was it the punt?
|
I just cant stomach this shit anymore. Im going to bed and PRAYING I wake up to news that Pioli's relieved of his duties effective immediately.

He was never a good motivator. Very good coach. But never a good head coach. I like Romeo in that he apparently works very hard, cares a lot about football, and players seem to love him. But he's not cut out for head coaching. And shame on a GM who wasn't smart enough to see that. |
Romeo Crennel
Defensive coordinator for KU next season |
We will never win as long as there are fans like us miserable ****ers.
|
I think Quinn is better than Cassel. His first start since 2009 and he looked as good as Cassel has the last 4 years. The INTs werent really his fault were they? I mean, don't get me wrong. He sucks. But at this point I hope they go with Cassel. Yes I said I think Quinn is better but hope they stick with Cassel. You can figure that out on your own.

Who is Buddy Bell?

Clark will sheepishly admit his mistake in front of the media. Pioli will slink out of town with a sack of Hunt money, cackling and rolling a blunt, with a tied up Chiefs cheerleader in his trunk. If we're lucky we'll get a shame pic ala Josh McDaniels. http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/.../mcdaniels.jpg |
It's a shame that we're going to lose Crennel completely because he's one helluva d-coordinator. Probably the shittiest head coach in KC history but man, he can coach a defense though.
This whole experiment will take years to recover from, I'm afraid. They have talent now but by the time everyone learns another new system, the new QB gets settled and they get into a groove, half the quality players we have now will either retire or move on. Life as a KC sports fan, ain't it great? |
I don't think Pioli gets fired during the year. Crennel maybe.

He sucks now. He sucked last year. He sucked in '10 |
Quote:
He can field an attacking defense that can nullify a good quarterback. He's done it ... many times. We've seen it. Maybe he's just stubborn? FAX |
Quote:
And he's absolutely right. But in today's NFL, you can't win if you sit back and wait. |
Quote:
|
That's the thing ... it's not that he can't do it. He just won't.
He has the horses (assuming the defensive backfield is relatively intact) to have a very disruptive defense. He stays with his 'bend don't break' philosophy, though ... in spite of the fact that we just get eaten alive in small pieces while wearing down. An attacking defense, at least, might force a mistake and actually make a play once in a while that can change a game in our favor. I get that his philosophy is dated, but he's done better in the past. I've seen it with my own, two eyes. It's very strange. Maybe the HC duties? FAX |
Quote:
And last year, this D sucked through most of the first half of the season, then he started becoming more aggressive and good things happened. Then the moron reverted to a soft bend but don't break scheme this, and we are consistently getting our asses handed to us. |
Kansas City fans thought Buddy Bell was a good coach and Kansas City fans thought Crennel was a good coach too.

Two head coaches fired in less than a year? Proof that the GM sucks ass. |

It's not a shame to lose any coach that age. |

Has Eric Winston resigned yet? He sucks and should leave town!

I could never imagine that it would be any worse than Herm's years, but oh my cow, it sure has, and it's embarrassing!
And no, I do not want Herm back. Let's not get that twisted. |
Quote:
But from a personnel side, Herm made a lot of very smart moves. Herm made the ballsy moves that set Pioli up to be a success in Kansas City. He brought in youth, ousted the veterans, and made the cap manageable. And no, none of those decisions were easy ones nor were they endorsed by our GM at the time. The guy was a bad game day coach, but he got this team moving in the right direction. |
